Disneyland To Open Sept. 16th?

In an interview Josh D’Amaro recently had with The Dow Report, he said“…we don’t have any California guidelines for opening. And as soon as a date and those guidelines are set, I can tell you we’re ready.”

Also, If you look at the California COVID government page of guidelines, amusement/ theme parks are not listed with any new guidelines (or at all), though a few different sectors—predominantly childcare and schools—received guideline updates yesterday to be discussed today or tomorrow by Newsom.

So just reiterating what we all already know, and that is that we are still waiting. It will be curious to see this Thursday if Disneyland does their weekly “push” of reservations. Because this next push will theoretically (based on pattern) cancel reservations between Sept 12 through 18. And that magic Sept 16 date that has been the earliest date for booking falls in that range. I wonder if they are looking at opening hotels without the parks? I can’t imagine there would be as much demand, especially at those prices and without a theme park. I know WDW opened their DVCs like a month early prior to opening, but at least in WDW there is a plethora of things to do outside of the parks on property AND they had a hard opening date.
BTW, for those that don't know the Dow Report is not the stock market. Its the podcast from Roger Dow the CEO of the Travel Association, the Washington lobby group for the Travel Association. So this is Josh D playing politics in the media, calling out Newsom to hurry up and approve theme parks to reopen. Josh is trying to apply political pressure to Newsom by getting the Travel Association involved.

Good for Josh! But I worry this is too little, too late and they placated Sacramento bureaucrats for too long.

As we've seen this week, the entire Anaheim Resort District's business model has collapsed, and they are now losing major key players beyond the berm. American Sports Center, hotels, restaurants, RV park, etc., etc.

That's what happens when nearly everything is forced to close or lose most if not all of its business for 6 months, with no end in sight as the otherwise abandoned surrounding area is overrun with bums. Businesses had a hard enough time in California before they were forced out of business in the pandemic.

I was told earlier this year during the lockdowns that Disneyland , once given the signal, can re-open in two weeks time.
That allows for Cast callbacks and re-training, food and supplies restocking / deliveries, and getting the wheels in motion again ( literally, in some cases ) across the property.
Not sure if that is still true or even possible now with the Parks being closed far longer then probably even Disney expected at this point.

We shall see...

Can we take this moment to acknowledge that RotR has been sitting dormant for 5 months..🥴

I mean so has every other ride, but if any of them are gonna have major problems restarting back up initially, RotR is definitely gonna suffer for at least a couple days.

I would imagine that's still accurate. Especially because when Disneyland does reopen, it's going to be in a severely limited fashion; only a 10am to 6pm operating day, many attractions and restaurants closed, no parades, no major entertainment, no theaters, limited hotel use, limited parking use, cancelled expansions, limited CM support needed, etc., etc.

They'll be reopening at probably one third or less of their usual capacity. That will all require far fewer CM's and resources expended than how they ran the place in January, 2020.

Thanks for the kind words, but currently the only thing I can say is No Comment.

It hasn't been a great day, the election is 69 days away, and ballots get sent out 30 days in advance.

A lot of political stuff in my life right now, I was going to say crap, but it is a big puzzle with lots of moving pieces.

There was a city council meeting last night, and the Angel Stadium issue is scheduled for the Planning Commission in a few weeks.

Sacramento is Sacramento, and that is driving a lot of folks crazy.

But moving forward is the only option!

The East Coast version has already had problems.

I have a couple friends who were supposed to have their college programs at DLR this fall (start date would have been August 9). Seeing the impact this has had on them has been tough to watch. The difficult thing with the DCP is it provides you a taste of working at Disneyland- without committing for years. It makes it really easy for out of towners to work at the parks. Just a quick semester for when you want to take a break from school, and I worry about all the kids who got accepted but now won't be able to realistically apply again in later semesters.

That's so sad to hear, I'm so sorry for those people. I guess I can look at this as a silver lining to getting rejected from the program. Depending on if / when they resume the program eventually hopefully I'll have the chance to try and apply at least one more time before I become ineligible from graduating.

They are now saying 10 days, which makes sense given they have to give the CMs 7 days notice before bringing them back and it will take 3 days to retrain and restock.

Rise of the Resistance is amazing, but nothing is worth what you have to go through to get on it. Literally getting there before the parking garage opens and not getting to go on the ride is unacceptable.
Yeah, hopefully they will handle it more like after Hollywood Studios reopened and have several times throughout the day to get boarding passes.
