Exactly. It’s not SFR. If it was, there wouldn’t be S.E.A. references.
But it’s not Swiss Family Robinson, therefore naming it as such is inappropriate.
New Orleans Square emulates the real New Orleans. Adventureland Treehouse will not emulate the same treehouse from SFR. That’s the difference. It’s loosely inspired by it. There seems to be some S.E.A. references as well going into this project. If this was actually a direct copy of what’s in the film, they would have more than likely called it “Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse.” However, it’s not. As pointed out already, there is no teenage daughter in the film, and the family didn’t build their home on an island called “Jungle River.” This is a new family they’ve made up for this attraction.
This is not based on a movie.
It’s not based on SFR. At least not the movie. We’ll have to wait for the television show to premiere.
Correct, “inspired by,” not “based on.” Not the same thing. They’ve reveled enough clues to tell us that this isn’t based on the movie.

I think the name change also gives them the opportunity to be flexible in their designs rather than weld them to a specific film's aesthetic.

Designers in the past felt free to design things however they fancied because no one was familiar enough with the films to cry foul if the treehouse at Disneyland didn't look like the one from the film. If you saw Disney's Swiss Family Robinson, you either saw the film when it came out in theaters or maybe if it was re-released several years later and that was it. And you're probably not going to try and memorize the set dressing if you're paying each time you watch the movie.

Now, when you can essentially pull up any Disney film or series from the comfort of your couch whenever you want, as many times as you want, AND we have influential lands like the Harry Potter areas that base their appeal on letting the park guest explore places they had seen on screen, people expect literalism.

Adventureland Treehouse and Inspired by gives them permission to take design liberties that they might not otherwise be able to take now that audience expectations and the accessibility of media has changed.

I'll join in the praise of this new iteration of the treehouse. As a mid-sixties guy, both in age and in the time when I first saw a re-release of the 1960 Disney film of SFR as a kid, and as someone who read the book many times while growing up (and several times as an adult), and is currently watching the 1940 RKO production of SFR on Disney+, I approve. The flexible nature of this manifestation of the IP is understandable in 2022/3.

My current understanding of the new D+ series is that it's a modern interpretation of the story (please correct me if I'm wrong) so a teenaged daughter would be a practically mandatory update to the male dominated original.

Edited to add: The 1940 RKO Pictures version of SFR is much more complex than the 1960 Disney version, and worth a watch.

The terms under Disney are interchangable in theme parks.

It's like TV programming back in the day not wanting to say "sponsored by" so they would say "brought to you buy."

It’s still not SFR.🤷🏾‍♀️ There is literally no other attraction at the DLR (none that I can think of) that has the “inspired by” tagline. It’s because those either don’t have IPs attached to them, or they’re actually based on an IP. Adventureland Treehouse is not based on SFR (the movie).

So......16 more pages of people complaining that the name of the attractions is "Welcome To Adventureland Treehouse Inspired By Walt Disney's Swiss Family Robinson"?

I hope there are frogs, monkeys, toucans, and butterflies actually in the tree when it reopens. Never understood why there weren't more animals in the treehouse.
