We attended two of the Disney Family Animation classes while there (they are a favorite thing to do for our family at DCA), and we also took Ukulele lessons which was really fun! (Shout out @FerretAfros for the idea)

I'm sure you can see that we're all excellent artists and any one of us could work for Disney Animation if so inclined.

Seriously, look at my Mickey on the bottom right. Is he not text book perfect! Do you see this Disney?! All I need is someone teaching me step by step every line to draw, and I could be an artist.

We went to SeaLife Park and swam with dolphins. :inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove:

Definite highlight of the trip. I won't post actual pics of us doing it since I don't like flashing our stuff all over the internet, but I'll post some other pics from the day. It was a FUN day.

Shout out to @dweezil78 who told me about the Menehune viewable through the keyhole in the lobby furniture. I managed to keep it a secret and surprise my son who thought it was super cool. He LOVED the Menehune Adventure trail scavenger hunt they have at the resort. It was a lot of fun for us to do together. If you have kids, I can't recommend it enough. Some of the things he made happen throughout the resort..........

Here he is with the tablet, ready to splash these unsuspecting passersby. *giggle*

Made these items appear on rocks:

He also loved finding the hidden animals throughout the resort's rockwork:

CalArts is where all the good animators have gone. So I'd sign up today, you may be looking at a new career in your very near future.

Anyways, looks like a fun trip.

@mickEblu the Road to Hana is nothing like our CA windy roads. It’s very narrow and if there’s any traffic you will move slow. Like slower than CA traffic slow. Hawaiians drive slowly on paved roads, even the “highways”, but locals and tourists will drive barely at all on the Hana Hwy. Don’t even consider it unless you leave really early to avoid the traffic. I last did the Road to Hana about a decade ago because there’s no way I’m doing it with my kids. On our last trip in May we decided against it and they’re 8 and 6. Maybe consider it if your 3 year old is REALLY good in the car otherwise it’s just not worth it. Especially with a 79 year old getting really bumped around all day. It’s an all day trip. It really is not worth a day out of your trip if you don’t have that many days there. There’s a reason they sell those I Survived the Road to Hana shirts.

The reason I asked about what you want to do is that going anywhere on Maui can take up a lot of time so don’t forget to take enough time to just relax. I really liked the apps they have for Maui that will narrate for you as you drive. I’ve been going to Maui my whole life but still learned a few fun things. That will also point out different places you could consider going. The Iao Needle is a very pretty spot and easy for everyone in your party. Upcountry is also beautiful if you want to take a drive. I would definitely skip the crater, a long windy drive with an unreliable pay off. It could be so cloudy you see nothing.

If you live near any aquarium skip the one in Maui. Unless your child really loves turtles there’s just nothing there.

Thanks for the tips! Sounds like my wife and I will just do the road to Hana alone and leave everyone else at the hotel. They’d probably enjoy it more there anyway.

Just got back from Aulani. We had a wonderful time. Thanks for all the advice, I used pretty much all of it.

Aulani was so beautiful. We didn’t want to leave! I’ll likely post a trip report with some pics soon. :)

so glad you guys had an all-good trip and a great time!!!
:joyfull:

aulani is gorgeous, tho the hawaiian islands, generally, are easily some of the most beautiful locales i have ever personally witnessed
