Disneyland officially reopening April 30th

It’s a pity because they spent a fortune on the land. A relatively small amount of money could introduce a couple more missions for Falcon and very brief stunt shows high up and droids randomly traveling below could happen without disturbing social distancing. It would add a lot of life for very little money.

And those things were planned.
I remember seeing the announcement at D23 (from home) and read the insider articles and was greatly disappointed that so much was cut. There used to be an old business saying to always under promise, over perform. I guess Disney keeps getting this backwards.

From what I have been told from higher ups... Rise building budget went over and that's why we never saw multiple locations for falcon. also they did have a stunt show but budget again. It only ran as long as it did bc since rise had a budget for staffing but wasn't opened yet. They slashed the staffing budget to give to entertainment.
Sure...but add them now to attract people as Disney Parks make their triumphant post-Covid return.

Think right now the focus on entertainment and such is geared towards avengers campus.

And I think falcons new adventures won't happen until it really dies down in the land. Not many people have been to the land before the closure.
Meanwhile, in Florida, we are moving on to the next three E-tickets.

I've only seen Vi running away from nothing. Multiple times too.

Just her hiding and running in an empty GE with nothing going on.
When I went with my friends the summer it opened and was still reservation only, I was standing somewhere in the walkway near Savi's and I turned around and there was Vi hunched down like she was sniffing my behind. She gave me the "hush" sign and whispered that she was hiding from the First Order. Hiding? Behind my butt? It was awkward.

I don't care for Vi Moradi myself, but I also don't mind her. It's true she isn't a SW character people know and that's something Disney got horribly wrong with GE, but there was a charm to seeing her alone behind a fence in a corner of GE with no one else around.
She had a pretty significant part in the Black Spire and Phasma books but she's a pretty minor character that 99% of guests won't remotely know who she is. As you said, probably not the best choice to force unknown characters unless you are going to find a way to share their story in a bigger way within the land...like a stage show.

I don't know if that was the point. If she was a bigger character and people knew who she was, they would be lining up to get their pictures with her and talk to her and the whole environmental immersion aspect would be ruined. Instead of being a person actually living out an adventure, it would just be another meet n greet opportunity to check off a list.

Which I also think would have completely ruined the droid experience too. People wanted to envision droids walking around and carrying out their business as if it were a real environment, but the reality would have just been a circle of people taking pictures and hounding the poor thing.

She also kinda just looks like a guest who is Disney Bounding.

That sounds so awkward...

You act like its a bad thing if Disney has things people want to take pictures of.

If Disney's new creations don't warrant photos that just means they're failing to capture interest.

People tend to photograph things they like and want to remember. No one's going to care or remember the random fan fiction cosplayer hiding behind trashcans.

If there were droids and aliens, which is what Disney themselves showcased and promised by the way, people would adore it and have tons of pictures and memories.

Letting someone live in a world with droids and aliens would be such a fun experience, that even non Star Wars fans would have a great time and be able to enjoy themselves. This was supposed to be the whole appeal of the land, unique characters who interacted with you.

Thanks man. You re probably right. Hopefully they re prepared and I’m not blowing 2k on a stressful weekend. From a value perspective it’s just hard to see the point of going in the next 3 weeks. Masks, 35% capacity, no Avengers Campus etc. Just about the only good thing left is the weather.
I'd much rather wear a mask on a 70 degree day vs be miserable without a mask on a 90 degree day.

Avenger's Campus looks pretty lame and doesn't even have a big ride yet.

35% capacity Disneyland will be lovely. Trust me you're gonna love it.

Yep, its all a matter of what their intention was...I don't pretend to know.

Remember the early hype. You put the app on your phone. You could join the the Resistance or the First Order. Vi would try to recruit you to the Resistance. You could 'go on missions', using your phone to download data from terminals around the land or switching them from red to blue. They had the hardware at the cash registers that would pick up data from your phone and Ky'le would give you a hard time about wrecking the Falcon or congratulate you on a good mission. I think there even was going to be credits for so many missions at the registers. That all got dropped at some point. As TP would say, Ky'le went back to talking about Susie's 4th of July party at Newport Beach.
