Disneyland officially reopening April 30th

I think you'll be fine. I was worried entering the place because the crowds just looked like a normal day. But even if walkways are crowded (mainly with absurdly spaced-out lines), once you're in there, it's Disneyland after all this time, maybe a little better in some regards.

As for the distancing, I know we had our own log on Splash Mt, we were spaced in the back of the POTC boat with two people in the front row, HM had no noticeable guests around us, and as for Thunder, it's similar to this:

Look how far away they are!

Aaah $hit! They better load some more of those rows! Otherwise what’s the point of even distinguishing between a yellow and Orange tier at theme parks.

There's a lot of unused space. Look at the Peter Pan line:

Meanwhile, the line goes out to the hub where a cast member is holding a big stick. It's like the parks are artificially crowded by Social Distancing.

I think today shows that Disney will move forward with an “annual pass” program as soon as they possibly can. And they re going to be more like flex passes. Not some buy 7 tickets, get the 8th free non sense.

Yes. Parks can increase up to 35% unfortunately the attractions can not unless they add more plexiglass. So it's still one party per vehicle or for bigger attractions every other row, etc. Still no indoor queues and 6 feet apart. 25 capacity and 15 min max. Sounds like those rules will stay in place until we hear more about June 15 I believe it was. So expect busy walk ways.

Yeah from tmrw through June 15th will be the worst time to visit the parks. I’m most likely cancelling my reservations for this weekend. Now I’m just mad I didn’t buy some Disneyland only tickets for this Saturday (to scratch the itch) and just use my park hoppers for a trip later this summer or later in the year. If I use the first day of my park hopper this weekend then I only have 13 days to use the second day.

This jump to 35% benefits nobody but Disney. Guest experience goes way down and I’m sure they won’t even be staffed appropriately for the increase putting even more of strain on the CMs.

Just snagged 3 Disneyland tickets for this Saturday. Lol. They just reappeared out of nowhere for this Saturday only. People must be getting cold feet and cancelling. Feel good about this move. Sure I just went on record saying the next 3 weeks will be the worst but now I feel no pressure. No pressure to get the most of my park hoppers or the trip we had been planning. Now I’ll be posted at DL for the entire day and then still have a 2 day trip to look forward to later on. I’m not really spending more money either as I’m cancelling the third night of the hotel as we don’t need it anymore minus all the extra costs of another day at the parks.
Still have the option of bailing too if I see wait times get out of control this week.

I have a hunch TDA is simply adding extra park capacity now that they've had a few weeks of practice. The official "capacity" is based on the fire code after all, and it's much higher than you'd imagine.

Feel good about this move.

I think you should feel good about it. You'll have fun even if they add a few extra thousand people to the day!

Wow. Vi wasn't cut!!

Huh. Clairol must have kept their sponsorship of Star Wars Land going through 2021.

Exactly. I think I'm more interested in Ky'le from Tustin's backstory and how his Zoom classes are going at Fullerton Junior College than I am interested in anything Vi Moradi might have to say to me. Go Hornets!

They have an entire catalog of beloved and/or fascinating characters from the decades-long Star Wars saga to use in this land, and instead they made up someone completely random no one knows or cares about and then gave her an underwhelming backstory that just makes her seem like she has to ask every tourist she sees simple questions. The result if you get accosted by her while waiting in line for Blue Milk is that she seems kind of slow and she's struggling to keep up with the plot.

I think I'd rather talk to the dorky satellite TV salesman trolling the aisles at Target than I would spend time talking to Vi Moradi.

"Hi there, can I ask you who your cable TV provider is?... Oh, really? Have you thought about satellite instead? We've got an incredible promotion going this weekend that could save you hundreds of dollars and upgrade you to Dish Network..."

I did feel good about it until I checked my email and saw that the 3 tickets I purchased for Saturday are for California Adventure! They must have sold out while they were in my cart before I purchased and defaulted to DCA. So I called customer service this morning and they refunded me for the tickets I bought last night. Now I have to monitor reservation availability all day like a beggar for the honor of forking over another $450 for Disneyland tickets this Saturday on top of the $850 I already spent for the 2 day park hoppers. I figured they would not be able to do anything about it. Talked to a supervisor and everyone was nice and thorough but nothing they could really do to help me. I was most disappointed that they couldn’t honor the reservation for Disneyland I have on my 2 day park hopper and just “port it over” to my new one day ticket. That seems like a reasonable accommodation.

So yeah things are changing fast and I’ll just be the biggest guinea pig of them all this weekend.... if I go because of my excited wife and son. I Suspect wait times that are 25% longer than we’ve been seeing, even more guests spilling out into outdoor queues all over the walkways and even more difficult time ordering food. Magical. Hopefully they are considering guest experience and staffed up/ have a plan in place to accommodate the extra people. Because they didn’t waste a second unleashing more reservations when OC officially moved into yellow yesterday.

Once again, the hate that Vi gets here baffles me, when we’ve done nothing but sing the praises of Disney Park-original streetmosphere characters before. I’ve yet to see a remotely valid criticism against her.

Don't you know? What every theme park connoisseur wants more than anything else is already-established IP forced down their throats. If the character isn't The Mandalorian or Lando Calrissian, they don't want anything to do with it. The last thing they want is for the parks to come up with their own original characters. They just want more and more IP.

And, of course, any character should have their own indoor M&G. Last thing anyone wants are roaming characters interacting with guests advancing the backstory of the land and giving the land as sense of adventure or movement. There should be no surprises or stuff one has to discover. Everything should be the same and static so we know what we're getting every single time.

To be fair streetmosphere are usually musicians, singers or whatever else people are doing to entertain guests. I haven’t seen what Vi does but doesn’t she just kind of walk around awkwardly? My lasting image of her is either from a video or pic where she’s hiding in a corner and looking around. It comes across awkward to the guests as we don’t know who she is or why she is doing that. If it was part of a bigger show or we know what her deal was maybe it would resonate but she’s just squating looking around the corner to see “who’s coming” while people are buying Ronto wraps and cokes from coke cart in the background.
