The complaints are never ending. It's just astounding how privileged, Spoiled and demanding a society America has created. I don't think there's any turning back from that now, and it will remain who we are as a country.

Complain about the parks being closed while people are dying by the thousands. Vaccine comes out, pandemic slows, parks can open.

People complain that it's not open to EVERYBODY. Yeah, it's open, but gosh darnit, I'm out of state, so open is not good enough.

Announced that parks can open with people from out of state showing proof of vaccination. PROOF?? People complain about showing proof. People complain that they're being forced to get vaccinated, merely so they can visit the parks. Current conditions still not good enough.

Eventually....parks open to people from out of state, no vaccination proof required. Masks still mandatory. MASKS MANDATORY?? No, we can't have that, even for a few more months. I want parks open, and open to Everybody, whether or not vaccinated, and without having to wear masks.

If only people had been able to be careful, and follow rules for 12-18 months, we not only probably would have been out from under this even quicker, there would have been 100's of Thousands fewer deaths, and countless less people who suffered from illness due to contracting this deadly serious virus. It's also why, instead of totally getting this virus under control, or perhaps even eradicating it, we'll probably have to live with it circulating for years to come, if not longer. At least hopefully, those dying or getting hospitalized, will be those refusing to get the vaccine, now primarily for their own protection.

Woah, calm down buddy. This is a Disneyland fan forum. Of course we are going to complain about how the park opening is being handled.

Haha. This June 15th stuff has me flirting with postponing my trip next week. So here’s the question. What’s better....

79 degrees/ 25% capacity/ shorter lines/ masks required

Or

Potential for 90 degrees+/35% capacity/ longer lines/ Avengers Campus opens/ No masks

?

I think the known of the nice weather + the decent wait times makes the former more attractive. Besides, there is no guarantee that Disneyland won’t require masks after 6/15. Of course there is option 3. Reschedule the trip for the Fall with good weather and no masks. But who has the patience for that?
Which is why I went for the 12th from the start knowing that they might be changing up on the 15th. Hoping we get good weather, short lines and Avengers Campus.

I’m starting the day at DL on both of my park hopper days because I wanted to spend as much time at DL as possible but for people looking to maximize their day it might not be a bad idea to start your day at DCA. Their is obviously more capacity at DCA since tickets are still available on most days. I’m imagining you can get a lot done in those first four hours at DCA before the park hopping starts.

Yeah, because that infrastructure isn't in place today (since no one in the US seems to really care about it), there was no way for a Trader Joes or Disney to say 'show us your vaccine passport'. I support them, I think they would significantly help. Yet, what is Disney supposed to do? Or Trader Joes? They can't just sit around and wait for a number to say 'this is when we're dropping masks'. At this point, they're being told vaccinated can go inside without masks, but there is no system to confirm one way or another.

This is the biggest ball dropped, IMO.

I agree.

But let's look at how the government works in a federal republic of 50 states like ours. In 2005 the federal government mandated that all 50 states had to align and tighten their processes on issuing driver's licenses and state ID's to make things safer and ID more reliable. It was called the Real ID act and Congress and President Bush signed it into law in May, 2005.

Over 15 years later, the state of California still hasn't complied with the law. California and a few other states could never get their act together and update their DMV systems and processes, and they got multiple extensions to comply with the law throughout the 2010's. Sacramento bureaucrats balked and whined and made excuses for years and years on how hard it was for them, even though many other states fell into line and complied.

Knowing all that, you'll have to excuse me when anyone suggests that all 50 states will instantly create a vaccine passport system for 330 million Americans. Until then, keep this awkwardly shaped little piece of paper with some ballpoint pen scribbles on it with you at all times! 🤣

I think you’re thinking too deeply on this, but you’re welcome to your interpretation.

I just believe we need to be sympathetic.

Sympathetic to people who are anti-science?

It's a vaccine. And it's highly, highly effective. More effective than Shingrix which was a huge blessing for many, or vastly more effective than Flucelvax which is often a crapshoot year to year. If you have been vaccinated, the masks are theater at this point. And vaccines are free and widely available to everyone, so long as you don't live in Europe or Canada.

United States = 36.7% Citizens Fully Vaccinated
United Kingdom = 29.5% Citizens Fully Vaccinated
(Brexit looking very wise now!)
European Union = 12.7% Citizens Fully Vaccinated
Canada = 3.3% Citizens Fully Vaccinated

I can pity people who are willingly anti-science, but I can't bring myself to be sympathetic to them.

"pretty healthy" and smoking 5-6 cigarettes a day?!?! C'mon Man

Thank you. I certainly have known plenty of sin in my life with cigarettes and liquor and wild parties, but I would never try and pretend I was "pretty healthy" back when I was doing all that.

Thankfully, I changed my ways and dropped cigarettes and... well, I guess just cigarettes. 🧐

Good point, and a good plan!

It's funny how this current system seems to have up-ended things. Previously, most wise one day touring plans had you starting at Disneyland and ending with DCA. But I think you are right that it makes more sense to flip-flop that now.

It's very June gloomy in the OC today. It must be like the Disneyland Singalong Videocasette at DL today

I love this time of year! Foggy mornings to be out in the garden, sunny afternoons at 73 degrees to go maskless at Trader Joe's, and then cool evenings to sit around the fire pit and drink wine with friends to a Motown soundtrack. Love it!

This is what we pay the highest taxes in the country for, this weather!

Ya I’m contemplating switching one of my days to start at DCA. If we get enough done there in those first four hours, it could actually mean more time at Disneyland than if we started both days there. I’ll be monitoring DCA wait times closely tmrw.

A friend of mine is actually quite distraught over the recent news and is hoping we won't ever be maskless at Disneyland...
it's a thing, the comfort some folks find in donning a mask.

Again, people have to realize that ONLY a little over third of the country is even vaccinated right now. Most of the country is still just as susceptible to the virus as they were a year ago.

We all know the real issue, it's not about the vaccinated people not wearing masks, its about the NON vaccinated ones not wearing them and now not knowing if you can trust people without masks being vaccinated or not?

I mean I am FULLY on board with not wearing masks, but yeah I definitely understand the fear over it, because it's basically an honor system at the end of the day. And it's one in a country that A. a lot of these people were against wearing mask in the first place and B. a lot of them are even against getting vaccinated. Now you put A and B together and you have the making for a disaster when they basically no long have to do either one of those things.

Sadly that's the fear many others have. And in a theme park like DL, even more so. At least when WDW was running in the middle when the pandemic was at its highest there was still the one basic protection and everyone had to be masked. Now, that's gone (or will be soon) and many are scared of catching this thing.

That's why the best bet for EVERYONE to just get vaccinated before coming to any of these parks. IF they are that afraid, but I'm guessing most of those people will still be avoiding places like this for awhile anyway.
