Just at a glance, some of the reactions to this on Twitter are absolutely f'in insane. This virus has legit broken people's brains. I'm convinced years down the line there will still be people wearing masks insisting that it's not safe outside like the Japanese soldiers who remained on the islands for 30 years after WW2 ended.

This is the first time most people have lived through a pandemic. Fear, worry, and even a little paranoia are all completely normal, considering everything, even if folks are vaccinated.

Agreed. We need to show some compassion toward our brothers and sisters that have dealt with something none of use imagined we'd have to deal with in our lifetimes. Some of us, like me, feel very comfortable going out in public and these reduced requirements post vaccination. I'm 100% ready to move forward with life. For others, it may take days, weeks, a year or longer and that's fine. We'll all get there eventually.

I think it's deeper than that. I think there's a not insignificant part of the population who has some kind of deep psychological need or desire to be told what to do. Either that or they pride themselves very highly on their ability at following rules and so feel threatened when that part of their life is taken away or challenged in some form.

Exactly. If at this point, people are comfortable with going out, that’s great. I ate inside a restaurant last week for the first time in over a year. It was great. However, not everyone is ready for that and it’s fine and completely understandable.

No judgement from me whatsoever.

I think you’re thinking too deeply on this, but you’re welcome to your interpretation.

I just believe we need to be sympathetic.

Anytime before the 12th of June.

Haha. This June 15th stuff has me flirting with postponing my trip next week. So here’s the question. What’s better....

79 degrees/ 25% capacity/ shorter lines/ masks required

Or

Potential for 90 degrees+/35% capacity/ longer lines/ Avengers Campus opens/ No masks

?

I think the known of the nice weather + the decent wait times makes the former more attractive. Besides, there is no guarantee that Disneyland won’t require masks after 6/15. Of course there is option 3. Reschedule the trip for the Fall with good weather and no masks. But who has the patience for that?

Accuweather and Weather Channel now have the 23rd pegged for 77-78, which is higher than I'd hoped but I'll take it.

I say avoid the 90 degree weather.

Yeah I agree just because the known is bearable (with masks) and the unknown is... unknown. After May here in So Cal all bets are off. It can be anywhere from 80 to close to 100 in June. Close to 100 is rare in June but it does happen.

Higher than I hoped for too but it’s honestly the best we could have probably expected for late May. 77-78 sounds pretty nice. And remember that’s just the high that you deal with for a couple hours.

Same! Completely ready to move forward with life at this point, but I still know people who don't want to stop wearing their masks and the reality is people are still getting sick and dying. It's lowest then it's ever been in ages but considering the year it's been for people worldwide, not everyone is just going to pretend everything is normal tomorrow because it still isn't for many.

It's America and your choice, Mick. But the one cautionary tale I tell people is about a good friend of mine. Late 40's, pretty healthy, but smoked 5-6 cigarettes a day (trying to quit). He got COVID 7-8 months back and tanked hard. He lived, but he developed blood clots and his leg had to be amputated.

Seriously. Leg amputated. Doing pretty good on recovery now, but wow.....

I was very eager to take a vaccine that could prevent that outcome.

Sorry for the bummer post
"pretty healthy" and smoking 5-6 cigarettes a day?!?! C'mon Man

A friend of mine is actually quite distraught over the recent news and is hoping we won't ever be maskless at Disneyland...
it's a thing, the comfort some folks find in donning a mask.

Did Newsom ever give an update get about the mask mandate in CA? The rumor swirling on Twitter is he was gonna also mention the theme park guidance at the same time.

I just want to hear that gosh darn confirmation that out of state guests can enter and I'll finally relax. We're vaccinated I don't care about showing proof just let me in!
