I suspect the attendance problem is due a lethal combination of overpriced tickets and a lack of general interest in a generic SW land that doesn’t have any recognizable landmarks except a prop outside a simulator ride.

Judging from comments on news articles and fan blogs, the public doesn’t feel SWGE at DL is a must-see like Harry Potter. WDW will probably gain more steam if it opens ROTR on Day One.

But I’m really just speculating.

FWIW, I’ve heard that Parks and Resorts leaders refuse to believe they’ve overpriced the tickets, and they’re trying to blame SWGE marketing instead of admitting they’ve raised prices far beyond an average family’s budget.

I think building in both Disneyland and WDW is where they really went wrong. Any sort of massive attendance boost and influx of visitors was probably going to come at WDW.

Regardless who wants to visit an incomplete land? If I'm going I want BOTH attractions open. I'm not making two separate trips to ride a single attraction each time within the span of a year. I think this is a huge factor that was underestimated.

Wow, that didn't take long. It's probably Step 1 until they see what happens next week for the 4th of July.
I'm curious to see how Netflix releasing Stranger Things 3 (a day's worth of episode marathoning) on the 4th of July is going to effect locals leaving their houses in general. :D It seems silly at first to think it would have an impact, but this is SuperBowl huge, and there's a lot of target audience crossover there...

You realize this just sinks the opportunity of anything being added, upgraded, refurbed, etc in the park?

Whether you like SWL or not a lot is riding on this and much of the parks will suffer if this does not make the money that was expected. More will be left to sit and rot.

Yep, sure do. Disney can’t be trusted and I’d rather they not touch anything.

This isn’t going to make significant damage to the point where nothing will happen in the future.

The franchise does lend itself well to theme park attractions. That's what it needs. Actual attractions. The people go to Disney mainly for rides. Speaking for myself, I don't get off looking at the props next to rocks, I don't want their overpriced food or drinks, I'm sober and I don't want to buy nerdy useless Star Wars junk. So that leaves the one ride for my enjoyment.

The problem is, Disney’s head have blown to such epic proportions, that they seem to think most people are literally chomping at the bit to experience anything and everything they can of precious Disney IP. Get over yourselves Disney. That’s just APs. Thankfully most of the rest of the world don’t care all that much about your IPs. They just want fun things they can do with friends and family. FUN.
Not something so intricate and detailed you have to be a Star Wars addict to appreciate. Just quality, fun experiences.

Any redo they do to Tomorrowland is almost certain to make it less enjoyable/nostalgic to me. I would rather have what’s there now than a Tron redo.

There's nothing there now and it's downright disrespectful - hardly nostalgic.

Disney doesn’t care about bringing Tomorrowland back to life.

And they care even less now.

Look I get you both have some vendetta against Disney for zapping away your personal nostalgia, so there isn't really any argument to be had here. But if you didn't like what was happening to the parks before and during Star Wars, things will only get worse if this doesn't perform well.

Nothing good comes out of SWL performing below expectations. Get ready for less upkeep, less cast members, reduced entertainment, etc and still higher prices...

Although the Idea of a thrilling coaster zipping through TL with neon lights sounds great I have a feeling that what we lose wouldn’t be worth it. Not with modern Disney/ WDI. Even through the Pixar Piers and GOTG’s of the world we all kept pointing to Galaxies Edge as the pinnacle of what they can do. Now it’s here and yeah the scale and workmanship is impressive but so what? It’s ugly and boring. The one project recently that had a proper budget and they go ahead and give us Iraq with tall dead trees.

Wouldn’t it be something if TSMM 1.5 (Spider-Man) ends up having higher guest satisfaction ratings than Galaxies Edge? Who am I kidding? They re setting themselves up for disappointment there too. At least those of us here know what to expect with Spider-Man though.
