Disneyland Madrid: Opening Day
Beginning Logo.jpg

(Before I go any farther, I would like to say that this was inspired by the style that @tcool123 took with his resort.)

"To all who come to this happy place, welcome. Disneyland Madrid is your land. Here lies the imagination of Walt Disney in its true form. Here is where the young and young at heart can play. Here is where the young can ponder the future, and young at heart can ponder the past. Disneyland Madrid was built on the basis of fantasy and creativity. It was built from the ideals and realities of one man, and one man's dream."
- Bob Iger, accompanied by former C.E.O. Michael Eisner and @MickeyMousketeer

Today, May 30, 3005, marks a great day for Madrid. Today the whole Disney team welcomes you to Disneyland Madrid. Here at the resort, we don't just have one 134-acre park, we have two hotels and Disney's Shopping Row. Over time, Disneyland Madrid will unfold itself and will open things that can't be imagined today. We at Disney promise that this resort will be the perfect new addition to the parks family.

- Disneyland Park Madrid -
Disneyland Park Madrid is the main spot at Disneyland Madrid. Opening with 6 lands, this park is home to 31 attractions, 17 eateries, and 19 stores. The first land you see as you walk into the park is Disneytoon Street. This land is the one that welcomes you and makes you want to keep walking. This is Madrid's version of Main Street U.S.A but only it is a small town in the style of a cartoon. It has all the same level of charm as Main Street U.S.A though. Located at the end of Disneytoon Street and past a luscious courtyard is Cinderella's Castle, with its highest point being at 192 feet.

The second land is right through the castle, Fantasyland. Fantasyland is split into two areas, The Castle Courtyard and Storybook Circus. The Castle Courtyard is host to the classic and necessary attractions such as Peter Pan's Adventure and it's a small world. Storybook Circus is home to two attractions, those being Dumbo's Flying Elephants and The Barnstormer.

The third land is Tomorrowland 2050. This Tomorrowland is laid out in almost the exact same style as the one in Orlando, only this land has some different attractions. As you walk through the main entrance to the land and down its tight street, you'll notice some attractions like Star Tours and Stitch's Great Encounter. Farther in the land you'll find more of the timeless attractions.

The fourth land is Adventureland. This Adventureland is the largest one to date (until the near opening of the new Disneyland in Singapore ;)). Adventureland backs up to the Rio de Aventura (River of Adventure) which houses this park's take on the Jungle Cruise, with Jungle Cruise Along the Rio de Aventura. This land is also home to a new ride with some familiar birds, Flight of the Tiki Birds.

The fifth land is Westwardland. Westwardland is the third iteration of the name, Frontierland. Westwardland has one sub-land, Thunder Ranch, which is home to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Here in Westwardland you can experience the sounds of the Country Bear Jamboree. You can also watch another show, though live actors, called Miss Daly's Countless Comedy Roundup.

The sixth and final land of Disneyland Park Madrid is Critter Corral. Critter Corral is separated into two. There's the mainland and then there's the 3-acre petting zoo entitled Disney's Critter Country. The mainland of Critter Corral includes Splash Mountain and It's Tough to Be a Bug. This land is the smallest out of all six lands but it does have intricate detailing.

- Hotel Disneyland Madrid -
This resort hotel is the resort's main hotel. The hotel boasts around 370 rooms themed to Disney fairy tales including Snow White, Cinderella, and The Sorcerer's Apprentice. All 370-some rooms are enclosed in one grand building, much alike the Disneyland Hotel in Paris. This hotel has one pool, and that is the Disney Splashland Pool. Here you'll find two waterslides, a jacuzzi, and a kiddy pool and splash park. The resort has three restaurants to choose from, one of which being the splendid La Elegancia de España, or The Elegance of Spain. This hotel has plenty of shopping in its merchandise store. The best part of the resort is the spa found on the top floor.

- Disney's American Dream Resort -
Disney's American Dream Resort is the moderately-priced resort of the resort. Don't let the price fool you as this hotel has so many great amenities. This hotel boasts over 700 rooms spread across three buildings. The hotel is themed to a styling of Main Street U.S.A. This hotel has two pools, one being right outside the main building, and one being outside the third building. Along with swimming you can get a bite to eat at the hotel's quick service restaurant, American Eats. The hotel also has a shop where you can find things from t-shirts to plushies.

- Disney's Shopping Row -
Disneyland Madrid's equivalent to Downtown Disney, Disney's Shopping Row is the top spot at the resort for shopping and dining. Shopping Row hosts three restaurants, two of which are sit down, and seven shops. Disney's Shopping Row is also where you can find the bus station that can take you to other parts of the resort or to nearby places, like Madrid. Out of the seven shops, you can expect to find The Disney Store, Glow in the Shop (a store to with clothes that light up at night), and H&M.

- Parking -
Disneyland Madrid has one parking structure, two parking lots, and an overflow parking which is only open seasonally. The parking structure (The Princess Garage) is only used for Disneyland Park Madrid, while the two parking lots (Mickey, Minnie) are used for Disney's Shopping Row. It's easy to walk from the parking structure to the park, although trams are accessible and run every 2-3 minutes. There are no trams in the parking lots as they are small enough to walk to Shopping Row. If overflow parking is open, there will be no choice but to use a tram. Each hotel has their own private parking, which don't have trams.

- Transportation -
A7306B80-7616-4899-B6AD-1952C1A1834E.jpeg

Here at Disneyland Madrid, we have many options of getting around the resort, including buses, Carpooling with Characters, and pedestrian walkways/bridges.

Disney’s Magical Express is accessible to anyone visiting via the Madrid-Barajas International Airport in downtown Madrid. These buses only travel from the airport to the two resorts and vice versa. There are also regular Disney Transport buses that are accessible to anyone on resort property. The main bus station is located towards the entrance to Disney's Shopping Row, and acts as the "transportation hub."

Another option for getting around Disneyland Madrid is the one-of-a-kind Carpooling with Characters. Carpooling with Characters is only accessible to visitors staying at one of the two Disney-owned resorts. Simply call from your room's telephone to make a reservation for a car with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, or Pluto as an extra passenger! Riding along with your favorite character comes at a price, however. Those prices include:

Coupe (Up to 3 guests): €23.99
SUV (Up to 5-6 guests): €27.99
Minivan (Up to 7 guests): €28.99

Taxis are not an issue at Disneyland Madrid. Taxis are not owned or operated by Disney, but they are the same used in the city of Madrid. Taxis are allowed into any place at Disneyland Madrid, and you are dropped off at the same place buses are. Taxi fares are not controlled by Disney and they are the same prices for any mile in Madrid.

The "final" way of getting around Disneyland Madrid is pedestrian walkways and bridges. Pedestrian walkways are a great source of exercise at Disneyland Madrid. Pedestrian walkways are accessible from Disneyland Park Madrid to Disney's Shopping Row, crossing over one main road via bridge, and from Disney's Shopping Row to the two resorts, crossing two roads via bridge. Walking from Disney's American Dream Resort to Disneyland Park Madrid takes about 7-10 minutes, and from Disney's Shopping Row to Disneyland Park Madrid 9-10 minutes. The almost enclosed walkways are surrounded with long-lasting durable glass for extra protection.

Hotel Disneyland Madrid
DLMH.jpg

Hotel Disneyland Madrid is located across from Disneyland Park Madrid, and overlooks the Rio de Aventura. The river is huge and part of it serves as a ride residence. This resort has 376 rooms, just 102 rooms short of its almost complete look-alike, Disneyland Paris Hotel. The resort is separated into two wings in one building, the East Wing and the West Wing.

Upon entering, you'll be welcomed under a big ornate awning. Under here is where you can park to check in before parking your vehicle and request Valet Parking. Each resort has complementary parking, so there is no worry there.

DLMHLobby.jpg

When you walk in to the resort, you'll be welcomed into enchanting Victorian architecture and furniture. To the left is the big desk that includes check-in, check-out, and Guest Relations services. At check-in, guests can request to be put in either wing, and can request what view they'd like. At check-out guests... check out. Guest Relations is where guests can go to settle any issues with the resort, get Disneyland Park Madrid tickets, and finalize their Disney's Magical Express ride back to the airport.

In the center of the lobby is a massive sitting area surrounding an ever-so slightly raised piano, where a pianist will play in the morning and in the evening. The sitting area also has one TV at each end playing Playhouse Disney in the morning and Disney Channel at night. During the day, the TVs are off. The grandest thing in the center of the lobby is the huge 17-foot chandelier raised almost 40 feet from the floor and accordingly decorated with vines.

To the right of walking in is where you'll find the only store at the hotel, Compras para Mickey (Shopping For Mickey). Here you'll find Disney plushies, t-shirts, monorail toys, and more. Also to the right is the entrance to La Elegancia de España (The Elegance of Spain), one of three restaurants at the resort.

La Elegancia de España
victoria-and-alberts-gallery00.jpg

La Elegancia de España (The Elegance of Spain) is the most finest dining you'll find at Disneyland Madrid. The equivalent to Victoria & Albert's, La Elegancia de España is laced with grandeur architecture from the late 1890s to early 1900s... or Victorian.

This restaurant is one of two places at Disneyland Madrid where you can find wine. This restaurant is also the only restaurant that instates a dress code. In order to be allowed into this restaurant, men must wear a dinner jacket along with a collared shirt and dress shoes. Women must wear a dress or pants ensemble. No one wearing a t-shirt, jeans, shorts, tennis shoes, etc. will be welcome. Children under 10 are not allowed.

Guests have the option to dine in the Dining Room, Elegancia Room, or, for guests with the highest standards and highest amount of money, the Chef's Tables. There are only 3 chef's tables, but all three give the same view of cooking. Reservations and pricing are made through packaging. Prices are:

Two-Person Dinner, Dining Room: €220.00
Four-Person Dinner, Dining Room: €250.00

Two-Person Dinner, Elegancia Room: €310.00
Four-Person Dinner, Elegancia Room: €330.00

Four-Person Dinner, Chef's Table: €510.00
Six-Person Dinner, Chef's Table: €540.00

(*Guests with three persons, five persons, or over six persons will have to privately contact the resort to make a reservation)

The Rooms
DLMHRoom.jpg

Rooms are split evenly between the two wings, for a total of 188 rooms per wing. Each room is decorated with the same level of charm and elegance as the lobby. Each room has a color palette of white, green, orange, and pink. Rooms can include two double beds or one king bed, but each room will include a 32" TV, coffee maker, hair-dryer, telephone, cups, towels, and shower needs. Standard rooms are about 370 squared feet, with suites coming in at about 420.

At the hotel, there are two choices for room views, Garden View and Park View. Most Park View rooms are located in the West Wing, with Garden Views in the East Wing. Park View Rooms are more expensive than Garden View rooms. Prices are:

Standard Room, Garden View: €334.14
Standard Room, Park View: €404.48

Deluxe Room, Garden View: €342.93
Deluxe Room, Park View: €413.28

Junior Suite, Garden View: €360.52
Junior Suite, Park View: €448.45

Deluxe Suite, Garden View: €373.71
Deluxe Suite, Park View: €461.64

Pixie Suite, Garden View: €492.42
Pixie Suite, Park View: €527.59

The Pool
DLMHPool.jpg

Hotel Disneyland Madrid has one pool, the Disney Splashland Pool. This area includes a main pool, kiddie pool, and kiddie splash park. The main pool is a zero-entry pool with its deepest point being five feet. The kiddie pool is as well a zero-entry pool, with its deepest point being 2.5 feet. The splash park is identical to the one at the Grand Floridian, and only guests under the age of 10 are allowed in it.

The pool area is also home to the Pirate Cove Bar, serving alcohol and food. In order to drink alcohol by the pool or take it inside, you must wear an orange wristband, which signals that you are of age and have paid.
