Disneyland celebrates the country's 250th birthday in 2026

How hard would it be for Disneyland to give us a parade for 2026?

Are you kidding?!? You want them to do a special parade for something of cultural importance?

Don't be stupid. Think of the two dozen TDA cubicle dwellers they would have to cut from the budget to put on a daily parade for paying customers! These people here need their Starbucks breaks and have to make their Acura payments while they "work from home" two days per week (which is why this TDA group photo is missing about 1,000 people).

TDA is a very big building. There are priorities. Please try to remember you are just a "guest" here, so stop being so selfish about demanding showmanship and hospitality and silly things like parades.

It would be funny if Universal beat them to the punch this time.

But if a celebration does happen, bet on it involving Captain America in some form.

Ya know, this is wishful thinking and I'm not sure I even trust WDI to execute this but an updated America Sings would be delightful! I mean we have 50 more years of American music to pull from now.

It's not like that building has had anything worthwhile since the original closed.
Innoventions wasn’t worthwhile?

January, 2025 THREAD UPDATE! America is back, baby! 🇺🇸 🥳🕺

Over in the thread on the new TDA President Du Jour, this little nugget of big news was buried...

"Ken Potrock, a 30-year Disney veteran will take on the newly created role of President, The Walt Disney Company Major Events Integration. In this role, Potrock will be responsible for developing comprehensive, cross-company plans to maximize the value of large-scale sports, entertainment and tourism events ranging from the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics to the 250th Anniversary of the nation."

So Disney has caught on that the wind shifted, and now has a newly created senior executive in Ken Potrock as President of TWDCMEI to help get the Parks and various company divisions ready for the 250th birthday of America! This is fabulous news, obviously.

What will Disneyland be able to pull off in 15 months time, to debut for the summer season of 2026? I'm thinking a new patriotic fireworks show is a given, even if the braintrust in TDA can't pull together a parade in that time. (Either due to lack of funding in a company with a current market capitalization of $202 Billion, or simply lack of TDA expertise compared to 1974 when they didn't have computers or email or CAD or iPhones yet somehow created the massive Bicentennial Parade using a stack of IBM cards and a rotary dial desk phone).

Might they do a new "To Honor America" finale float for Paint The Night? That would be great, and Disneyland nerds and random normies alike would love it.

Whatever Mr. Potrock is tasked with coming up with for the summer of '26, I hope he gets to work on that ASAP! Not a moment to waste now, even if they should have started planning for this a year ago.

I’ll settle for the MSEP being able to say “Ladies and Gentlemen” again!

“Pirates will once again be able to auction off those beautiful women when you think about what those chickens did to those lovely women, i was always partial to the redhead, some have asked me “why not the stout one?” I tell them I don’t like the stout but the redhead has everything i like”

Man, I love America. If they had more time I would say they should finally do Soarin’ over America with scenes of NYC, Portland Headlight, Mount McKinley, and more iconic American vistas. We have such a beautiful country it needs to be celebrated and showed off!

Excited for the 250th.
Looking forward to seeing what Disneyland comes up with.
✨🇺🇸✨

Think the country will go nuts with all the hoopla like we all did back in 1976 for the Bicentennial?
Man it was crazy…Bicentennial fever one could call it…and it lasted like two years!

I think maybe I’m showing my age…
Probably only me and @TP2000 remember the 1976 Bicentennial hoopla.

I know it's too much to hope for an America Sings reprisal now that some of those animatronics may be available again. :)

(I think TBA has fewer than Splash, correct? I don't do drop rides so I don't know firsthand but I seem to recall it being said that there are less animatronics in the new attraction? Which means the former America Sings ones went... somewhere that is hopefully not the trash heap.)

TBA doesn’t use a single America Sings animatronic. The issue now is what was saved and what was scrapped

It doesn't require a new land, or even a new ride. It just needs a fabulously red-white-n-blue decor package and some great little entertainment additions; a To Honor America finale float for Paint The Night, a snazzy patriotic finale to the fireworks show, a toe-tapping repertoire for the Disneyland Band with patriotic uniforms, and bring back the All-American College Band in a huge way! Plus new patriotic outfits for the core Characters, some snazzy new 250th nametags for the CM's, and a kick-butt commercial campaign for both WDW and Disneyland that invites Americans to come celebrate America at the Great American Disney Theme Park!

See? I just already did the work for Ken Potrock, President of Disney Simi (the J is silent). Ken, are you taking notes? This isn't rocket science. Get this easy 250th stuff in the bag ASAP and then you can start worrying about the LA Olympics. Because if the last few weeks have taught SoCal anything, it's that state and local government is not ready for anything. So get ready!

This thread has now triggered all sorts of Bicentennial memories for me.

My Aunt Ingrid redecorated her powder room for the Bicentennial. I am not making this up! She put up Bicentennial wallpaper, and installed a Colonial style washbasin accented with decorative brass Colonial candlesticks, and hung up hand towels with Liberty Bells on them. Why? I have no idea, but somehow the Bicentennial fever hit her and all she could come up with was a powder room renovation. It was rather fabulous, as I remember. I tried to Google the exact wallpaper, and I couldn't find it, but this is a close approximation.

Imagine this slathered all over the walls of a small 20 square foot powder room in a La Jolla tract home, and you get patriotic perfection...

Wasn't it great? So kitschy, but so fun, and so uniquely American! I loved it. 🇺🇸 😍🇺🇸

Disneyland and Ken Potrock, President of Disney Simi, do not let us down on this one!

I'm already planning my outfit for July 4th, 2026...

Since everything has to have a tie in, just use Captain America and the Avengers as hosts for the 250th. It would be cross promotion. Put out a parade at DCA with the super heroes. Put a musical in the theater about 250th but mostly Captain America. They could sell Cap popcorn buckets! Oh wait, Captain America doesn't represent America anymore? Good job Disney.

You might get America Chavez if she isn’t perma-dead.

I tried collecting all the different state cans from 7-up to form Uncle Sam but never made it. Living in a small town on the Iron Range near Bob Dylan's hometown made it nearly impossible.
