It doesn't require a new land, or even a new ride. It just needs a fabulously red-white-n-blue decor package and some great little entertainment additions; a To Honor America finale float for Paint The Night, a snazzy patriotic finale to the fireworks show, a toe-tapping repertoire for the Disneyland Band with patriotic uniforms, and bring back the All-American College Band in a huge way! Plus new patriotic outfits for the core Characters, some snazzy new 250th nametags for the CM's, and a kick-butt commercial campaign for both WDW and Disneyland that invites Americans to come celebrate America at the Great American Disney Theme Park!
See? I just already did the work for Ken Potrock, President of Disney Simi (the J is silent). Ken, are you taking notes? This isn't rocket science. Get this easy 250th stuff in the bag ASAP and then you can start worrying about the LA Olympics. Because if the last few weeks have taught SoCal anything, it's that state and local government is
not ready for anything. So get ready!
This thread has now triggered all sorts of Bicentennial memories for me.
My Aunt Ingrid redecorated her powder room for the Bicentennial. I am not making this up! She put up Bicentennial wallpaper, and installed a Colonial style washbasin accented with decorative brass Colonial candlesticks, and hung up hand towels with Liberty Bells on them. Why? I have no idea, but somehow the Bicentennial fever hit her and all she could come up with was a powder room renovation. It was rather fabulous, as I remember. I tried to Google the exact wallpaper, and I couldn't find it, but this is a close approximation.
Imagine this slathered all over the walls of a small 20 square foot powder room in a La Jolla tract home, and you get patriotic perfection...
Wasn't it great? So kitschy, but so fun, and so uniquely American! I loved it.
Disneyland and Ken Potrock, President of Disney Simi, do
not let us down on this one!
I'm already planning my outfit for July 4th, 2026...
