Disney World VS. Busch Gardens Williamsburg

One interesting note, my family and I we were riding in the back of the tram at BGW, right in front of the CM who was going on and on about BGW being voted "World's Most Beautiful Park."

Hate to bust your bubble. It is though.

http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/42859...-gardens-named-most-beautiful-amusement-park/

Busch parks are all icing but no cake. The employees don't treat guests half as well as Disney CM's do. The park grounds are not kept clean like Disney, and most attractions are concrete & steel with little or no story behind them.

If you put lipstick on a pig...it's still a pig. If you put lipstick on a Six Flags...you get Busch Gardens.

Not even comparable to Disney's standards (imo).

Think so? I happen to know the majority of employees at BGW and their service is voted top in SWP&A

I have been to Disney three times since May and Busch at least once a week this summer. Each time there has been no garbage or trash visible at BGW while there is typically a sparse piece at Disney. You clearly have NO idea what you are talking about as usual.

I'm going to say, I love the rides at WDW sooo much better.. but it's kind of hard to beat BGW's coasters and landscapes. But I will say this, EPCOT should be the most beautiful park. A thing WDW has that BG didn't tho... was a resteraunt at every corner. It took forever for us to find a resteraunt, and the map was quite confusing as well.

BGW is very excellent, but one thing it doesn't have is that Disney magic feel to it.. :D

BGW is close by so I've gone quite a few times between WDW/DL visits and while it is pretty and has a nice vibe, there's no comparison IMO. Disney parks have that emotional connection with the music and the smells and the familiar stories and shows etc...hech it's fun to just shop at WDW.

BGW is trying to step it up and in fact may be the best theme park anywhere near me but it's a distant second. After visiting Epcot, their versions of Italy, Germany, England, France etc, are really weak theme wise. They should really try and use materials other than just "slapping stucco" on every building. That is such an eyesore for me.

It does not have a magical feel because it was never intended to. BGW gives an intouch feel of nature and landscaping. Walk through the Italian gardens with the landscaping and sculptures makes you feel as if you are exactly in Italy. Busch has a very huge contract with a local wholesaler in plant products. Plants are delievered once and day and nearly twice a day during the summer. The landscaping crew is amazing that BGW possesses.

I am lost as to how you could not find a restaurant. There is some form of a retaurant in every country. Squire's in England, Grogan's in Ireland, Bistro in New France, Trapper's in New France, Festhaus in Germany, Whatever Italy's huge dining entertainment venue in Italy, the buffet in Festa Italia. The park is littered with eating establishments

I completely agree that there is no comparison. The parks are built on two entirely different visions and stories. Both do what they were set out to do in an excellent fashion.

Watch out for EVERY park in SWP&E. Blackstone has made it known that they are going to be stepping up every park of their's. Water Country will be over doubling in size over the next five years, SeaWorld's latest announced expansion will not be its only one, BGW will be seeing a HUGE leap forward in the next five years and making a move toward becoming a full year round park (weekends in Fall and Winter). The Christmas Town event at BGW is hands down the most beautifully down theme park Christmas even I have ever seen. I am sure the snow last year and the park with snow and lights plays no part of that opinion :lookaroun

Good on you! I have enough to visit four or five times! A few million more twinklers will be in the park this year as well as a slurry of new shows and food option. Black Friday needs to hurry!

WE went to BG two summers ago for a week and did here as well as many other pieces in the area (water parks, historic elements and the like). Gotta tell you we loved it. No way was it remotely close to the experieince at WDW but its all what you make it. We had a ball in the park. Beautifully manicured, great theming, good shows, good food and real good ride development over the past few years. it was clean and friendly and overall we had a great time.

I just got back from Busch Gardens today, and don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Disney junky. Heck, this saturday i'm in Spain to start the 2 week trans-atlantic Disney cruise on the Magic. Then after that, I head down to Disney World! But, back on topic. Busch Gardens, in Virginia. It was so incredibly beautiful, and shady! All of the trees were great for the hot weather, the coasters are unbelievable, even that "Revenge of Darkastle" that reminds me of Spider Man at Universal was good. The Sesame Street area looked cool for the little kids, but the main thing that got me.. it was just soo beautiful, the atmosphere. The flowers, trees.. tho one thing that I didn't enjoy was that all the countries they represent are the same.

Disney I still love a bit more, truly because of all of their indoor/A.C. attractions. Dark rides and AA shows I love. They do a good job with the scenery themselves, but if you've ever been to a Busch Gardens, would you prefer it over Disney? Or Disney over Busch Gardens?

I loveee Disney World, but Bush Gardens Williamsburg is next on my list! Its beautiful and clean, has fun roller coasters as well as attractions which you don't get from six flags, the shows are also entertaining. when i was younger i was a magicians volunteer in a show, he chopped my head off lol. Bush Gardens in Tampa is not as good, I much rather go to Disney especially since once you are in Tampa Disney is only like an hour and a half away. Williamsburg is a fun vacation spot!

Which attractions are open for this event?

This year they are having Alpengeist open instead of Griffen and they are having Europe in the Air open instead of DarKastle. They will be doing the Flight of Lights on the skyride once again this year and most of the flat rides will be open. They have two returning shows Miracles & Deck the Halls and a new show Gloria is replacing Rejoice.

I would highly recommend any body who loves the Disney parks at Christmas time should try to make a trip up here to check out Christmas Town at Busch Gardens as I believe they would definitely would enjoy it.

My dad took my brother & me to BGW during our summer visits when we were teens while he was stationed in Norfolk. I haven't been in 20 years. What stands out in my memory is how absolutely beautiful the park was which is pretty remarkable given that I was 17 my last visit. A 17 yr old is more likely to remember rides. I really would love to take my boys up to see BGW. I bet they'd love it.

Oh....and, ya know, there once was a time when WDW was landscaped to a dreamy level of perfection. Every nook & cranny was perfect. That level of attention to detail has been gone for quite some time, tho....

This is a link to the offical page with the full attractions list.

Mach Tower will also be open but in full mode and not observation as was orginally planned. The fact that there are limited rides open are directly reflected in the ticket price of just $24.99 a person (non passholder).

Sea World Texas hooks us Va folk up!

as sweet and magical as Disney is
we LOVVVEEEEEE Busch gardens like crazy

I cannot weigh one higher than the other. Both of them have their strong points and they are polar oppisites. That is a big part of the reason why I :ROFLOL: when people compare the two.

I will never ever, ever forget, I was 7 or 8 years old at the time and my Grandparents told me they were taking me to Busch Gardens. I'm like what's Busch Gardens? I had it in my mind that it was some sort of historical garden tour of a thing. My family was into this mode of "museum goer" vacation kinda people and so I had it in my mind that it was going to be a boring garden tour. My Grandparents played a game in which they gave me vague answers as to what it was all about until we got there.

From then on, we went about every year. My last visit was in 2003. With me working now, I just don't make it down there. I would like to try and go next year. I am not sure with the downturn of the economy if the crowds are a lot lighter than what they used to be.

It's an awesome park. One of my favorite things to do is to ride the train around the entire perimeter of the park around 5:00 or 6:00 pm in the summer time (as the sun is starting to come down some). The train ride cools you down a lot.

I remember thinking the last time I went, that they could give Disney a run for their money if they were a bigger outfit with more parks.

The same reason Disney was not renamed when the last Disney family member sold their stock. It is about the product being established and no need to change it.
