disney world underwater in 30 years?

30 years? Heck no. In a few hundred years, we might have a tad bit more of a problem, but certainly not 30 years. I personally believe that Global Warming is something we should definately be keeping an eye on, and absolutely should be taking action to slow down/prevent, but it certainly isn't anywhere near as violent or catastrophic as the media wants us to believe. I could go into a long explanation on my opinion on it, but this is neither the time nor the place.

I think it would be much more likely that Chuck Norris would show up in Epcot and roundhouse kick Spaceship Earth into the World Showcase Lagoon than WDW being underwater in 30 years.

Oh yeah...don't forget the supervolcano under Yellowstone park. I saw a big special about it on the Discovery Channel.

Oops...and the asteroids that are inevitably going to crash into our planet. And did someone mention the San Andreas Fault? Surely you've seen Superman.

There are so many things to worry about that have a teeny possibility of happening...which makes for great TV (Naked Science on National Geographic Channel anyone?) but should not be keeping any of us up at night. Or causing the evacuation of WDW. Or Florida for that matter.

 That show has been something of a running gag in my Biogeography class this quarter. That, and the movies "Volcano" and "The Day After Tomorrow."

Heros

Icorsix and Captain Hank are my new heros*.

*It is understood that their heroicness is miniscuile in comparison to Chuck Norris for whom the Great Wall of China was built to keep out. It failed miserably.

There is still no indisputable proof that Global Warming even exists. Some scientists believe it does others believe the world follows different cycles and nature is not so easily changed. Science and technology are advancing at incredible rates and some people forget that not too long ago the earth was flat. How many times have you heard a scientist say "we used to think....but now we know....". Well what they used to think they said they knew. We know very little and our senses are imperfect. We are just starting to learn about our Earth and weather and to throw around giant theories about are pending doom are very irresponsible.I try to walk the line.

eh couldnt they just build a giant wall to surround the property? and plus, WDW would be one of the last to go, or at least MK, its like 16 feet above sea level (utilidors, i think its 16 feet, anyone know?)

Here's a scientific, non-hysterical look at Global Warming. In sum, virtually all reputable, objective scientists agree that 98% of the greenhouse warming in the atmosphere is due to water vapor. Humankind controls approximately .2% of all greenhouse gases.

Well, I think we'd have about 8 minutes to live it up... :sohappy: before... things happen :lookaroun

Begging the question: Is it going to take us 8 minutes to realize that the Sun's blown up?

And everyone thought those were missle silos in the castle....

I heard that each of the towers on the castle removes it self and attaches to the corners and sides of the 43 sq miles of land therefore lifting the piece of land and acting as floaties, like the ones you used to wear on your arms when you were a kid.

as a geology major i can speak with a bit of authority. While i won't go into super details understand there. There is undisputed evidence that the earth has gone through a number of warming a cooling trends through the 4.5 or so billion years its been here. They are natural cycles and slowly take place over many years. No one knows exactly why but we do know that there have been many ice ages and times were the co2 levels were alot higher than now. How do they know? glaciers. They drill them and can find out what the atmosphere was like at various times. As for global warming..is it happening? pretty sure, its a warming trend. Are we causing it? thats the big question. Most geologists say no but at the same time we may be helping it. People blamed the hurricanes on it yet there were stronger and more numerous hurricanes in the 50's and 60's. Bottom line is no one knows for sure and any who would stand up and say so is a liar. Don't ever listen to politics in this regard. As far as florida being drowned....maybe after 50-75 years some will be but i doubt it will be as far as orlando. This is primarily due to erosion and deposition effects tho. Remember another thing, we can melt every iceburg in the world and water won't rise at all.. Y? Because icebergs deplace the same water solid as they do liquid. Melting glaciers are the problem but again know one can truly predict the long term. Stopping the use of fossil fuels completely may not even do anything, although cleaner air would be nice! :) Another side note, the same stupid people who blame suvs on global warming are the same dumbasses who said we were gonna have crazy global cooling earlier in the century.
