It feels like an interesting gamble. Based on what we see here (and I know, they have way better data so we may be off), the busy times of holidays and summer have really slowed down, and the traditionally slower times have become much busier. Feels like they think they can capitalize on that. The question with it is if they became busier because people perceived a discount (look how much cheaper tickets are, lets go during this time), or if it's because of other factors. If it's other factors, they are banking that these increase won't change many things. If it's the value thing, this could be another big dent in their attendance.

In terms of days, through Disney's own pricing actions and crowds levels, the number of "busy" days has flattened to better distribute them across the calendar year. This is just the pricing to catching up to reflect that.

I agree with you that this is a gamble, primarily because you're now essentially pricing out the last group of guests of which cost/affordability was the primary driver for their visits.

The "legendary" $200 single day ticket seems like it's only a few years away from happening now! I guess when I consider how much I paid to see Sweeny Todd on Broadway a few months ago and how much I'm paying to see Cursed Child on Broadway in a few months (the standard ticket price, bought directly through the theater), the price isn't so crazy (especially looking at a "cost per hour" basis), but it's certainly not a price I like (nor is it a price that's friendly for families who may want to go frequently). Then again, Broadway theaters offer ridiculously reduced-price tickets through rush/lottery day of to fill extra capacity and Disney doesn't offer anything comparable... so maybe the comparison to Broadway pricing isn't so applicable...
