There used to be tricks and loopholes like buying tickets for only 1 person in the party or buying only tickets for 1 day. But I believe they check for that.

Free Dining is not always a good deal. So do your homework before going down that path.
Correct, the room is at rack rate, and there is no free lunch with Disney per se. Someone is better off getting the room discounts buying tickets separately, and using a Disney visa or Disney gift cards to pay for meals.

The dining plan is essentially dead

It was a gimmick and the sun set on it.

Amazingly…it took the plague to knock everyone out of that stupid phase. Maybe the one “positive” in a weird way.

I greatly enjoyed open reservations last week…even at the egregious prices that causes the open reservations in the first place. Sometimes you get the bear…and sometimes he gets you

Didn't Hugh Johnston just say that summer bookings were up vs 2024??!?
I believe the 30% off deal and the ticket deal are basically the same as last summer. Free dining was available last summer too but I believe you needed to be a Disney+ subscriber. The kids ticket offer is new.

Last summer there were other discounts available beyond these. Of course there’s still time to announce more offers.

There are round the year discounts to levels only seen in full troughs of recessions prior to

And I just saw the “mob” crowds and they were pathetic

Disney says the kid ticket offer is unprecedented.

I went back to the 2007-2009 financial crisis to find a comparable. In 2010 they did a "Kids stay and play free" offer. But not during summer and only for a month.

We've been saying since last year that their internal survey data from young families said it was unaffordable. And given the "nostalgia" they depend on, skipping a generation would've been disasterous.

This is the upside-down 'downcharge.'

Raise prices and see who can afford them and buy into them.

Then, discount the rest.

Anyhoo, my three trips in the past year in Oct, Dec, and Feb were all 30% off room rate AP discounts.

WDW used to offer these discounts in the Fall to the general public, when the Fall used to be 'dead time.'

Summer is the new 'dead time.'

Key difference being a huge recession to now…where they swear it’s not the prices (but obviously is)

I was shocked at the park crowds over the weekend, Len…it looked like an average day in like 1995 for the fringe season

The only time that doesn’t look “dead” for the last 3+ years is October and November

Last year they also did the 4 day, 4 park ticket deal for $99/day ... This year only doing the 3 non-MK park version

So some new deals (kids tickets) but also some less
