Disney World Smell Memories

I know its Universal but it will always make me then think of Disney, but the ET ride smell

Ahh yes! The fresh scent of the forest. I wish I can spray that scent all throughout my house and car... Hell, I'll even carry around a pocket sized bottle and take it with me so in the case that I come across a foul smell, I'll spray that SOB all over that SOB! LOL! E.T. Adventure Rules!!!!

Everyone know that smell can trigger memories instantly. What's the number one smell for you that triggers a Disney memory? As odd as mine may be, as a kid, the smell of the buses is something that has stuck with me for years now. I wouldn't call it air freshener good, but it reminds me of when I was younger. I just had a moment where something smelled very similar, and instantly triggered memories in Epcot as a kid!

Turkey Legs at MK
The smell of popcorn, sweets and all that you can smell on Main Street USA

When I was little my aunt had a sewing shop on her property. There was a little bridge crossing the ditch from the street to the entrance. My cousin and I used to play on the bridge and we both agreed that it smelled like the Pirates ride.

Hi, I'm new. I haven't been to WDW since I was 6 but I still like to read about and keep up with it and hope to go back one day.

This is ironic. I was just about to start a thread on this exact topic. Disney Smells! :D

1. Sunscreen- Since we have always gone in May/June, it can get fairly hot and sunny, therefore we use a lot of sunscreen. So the smell is a strong reminder of Disney (Im actually where wearing some now.... Even though it was rainy all day... :D)

2. Coronado Fountain- they put something in that water.... Wether it is pixie dust or magic, I don't know,it just smells so fresh and clean! (not chlorine)

3. Smell of the air- Florida air- could it smell any fresher?

4. The Disney Magical Express- it may not be all that clean but it smells that way! :D

5. Ocean air- I have never been near an ocean until I went on a Disney Cruise. Here in Kamakura, the air smells exactly the same! Some much Disney in one breath!

I think for me, the overall smell of Magic Kingdom is just great. Doesn't seem so smelly like *cough**cough* Great Adventure *cough*cough*. Anyway, I remember I had my first turkey leg and pork shank there on separate trips and well as the rule of thumb goes, if it smells good and looks good, then it should taste good! (Which held true for both!) I also recall Pirates having a distinct smell but in a good way.

Number one? There are a few. The lobby at CSR. The lobby at BC. The CR and how my purse ends up smelling like the lobby when I leave work although the scent is not detected in our locker room. PoTC.. Splash.. MSUSA.. the flowers in the landscaping at the CR. I'll stop there

After reading all these comments maybe I should sell can's of scents from WDW.. lol

But... I think Disney would frown upon me and have me in like some huge lawsuit.

Yeah, I already am. :)

By the way, about the Pirates smell, I'm assuming it's intentional? It's weird how that smell has stuck with me all these years. I know I'm not alone because I see people mentioning it all the time.

The Polynesian lobby! Brings back so many memories of our first "real" trip and I just love the way it smells. Also, not really WDW, but at DL all of the Fantasyland dark rides had a very strong musty/"old" smell. My MiL's house up in Maryland smells EXACTLY like that- brings me right back to those rides, every time!

Probably the smell of the rides. The most memorable is Pirates of the Carribean at MK!
It's been nine months since I was at WDW and I knew I missed it more than usual, but now I have a new low. The new table sanitizer in my classroom smells exactly like the water rides (Splash, POTC, Maelstrom) do. I don't know what it is (probably very bad to smell) but it's exactly the smell. It brought back such good memories that I brought the empty bottle home to let my wife smell it and she agrees it's the smell. Now I'm having trouble throwing out the empty bottle. I need help I guess.

We were in Williamsburg and I walked past a fire where they were cooking something and I turned to my DH and said, "that smells just like O'hana."
