Disney World refurb fails

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the building. Guest attendance or lack thereof is what did Horizons in.

Have we ever pinpointed who started this rumor? Do we know that it came out of Glendale to justify knocking down the building so the fans wouldn't be in an uproar?

but mexico (Three cabeleros:hurl:)! who honestly likes that more? I used to be in love with the ride before it was refurbished

This is the one of the few rides were I think character insertion actualy hepled it

Compared to what we have or what we nearly had?
Yea it sucks compared to what we could have had.

I hate Buzz, bring back Dreamflight or Wings any day.

Two of the worst fits of all time, they didn't belong in TL.

Well thats just part of it, Horizons had also lost its sponsor so Disney had to pay to maintain it by them selves. Also there were plans to keep it and still build MS and a space pavilion. Eisner was in the penny pinching part of his carreer and denied it.

No clue. Like most rumors I will wager that it was started by someone that had absolutely no clue of the actual facts and went with the sink hole theory as there are a couple in Epcot. Everyone loves a conspiracy theory and once one is out there it is almost impossible to remove. When you bring up the simple logic that M:S would not have fit in Horizons people will go as far as doing an overlay of the M:S show building over Horizon's building attempting to conclusively prove that M:S could have fit inside the old Horizons building. I would pay real money to see the look on their faces when you point out that the Horizon's had a 29'6" cantilever around the entire building that was for the most part dead and unusable space.

When in doubt, I prefer to blame Glendale. It makes it easier for me to remember who I blamed for what when 95% of the time it's Glendale anyway.

Not true, in the case of Horizons you can blame Glendale for some of it. 95% it is probaly TDO.

I can see how some people prefer something else and I dont mind change but I dont like how they take something perfect and replace it with something like screens. They should have waited for wonders of life to close and use that for mission space and save money on the horizons demolition but thats my opinion.

Forget Horizons, I'd like to know who's responsible for defacing the exterior of the World of Motion. Anyone have any information on who should be fired over that scaffolding?

That isn't what I define as ruined. Ruined is Horizons

The TTA narration can be changed very easily.
I can't even call that ruined...it's GONE.

Not really, seeing that as a Omni, it had a flowing, but steady line. Go look at some of the vids on Mesa Verde Times. :D Always guests.
Actually if I understand the situation correctly 100% of the blame for Horizons would fall to Compaq/HP.
And Eisner. He could have saved it.

YES. What was once something so sleek, is now so cluttered.

That is the way of the EPCOT.:lookaroun:lol:
I am referring to the building not to the Space pavilion that was pitched pre-M:S.
And I think he was referring to Horizons94, the never seen refurb that would have fixed most of the problems, seeing it was looking dated.

Right about the building, but Horizons was closed because Disney wouldn`t pay for the multi million dollar upgrade it needed

No sinkhole, quicksand, structural issues or aliens.

But didn't the two go hand in hand? Attendance was off due to to no refurb....Pay for the refurb fix the attendance issue.

Yes but Eisner canceled the 94 refurb also attendance probaly went down a lot because the loss of sponsorship led to it only being open seasonally.

The reurb of Aunt Polly's into 2 vending machines was rather poorly done IMHO.

That's a good point! Aunt Polly's a great place to grab a snack and sit for a while as the kids ran around TSI. Too bad it's gone.

SGE is an epic refurb FAIL. Right across the sidewalk, MLF is a huge disappointment IMO as a replacement (not exactly refurb) for Timekeeper. Sure Timekeeper had to go, but why couldn't we get a dark ride in there? MLF just makes me sad.

On the positive side, I can't think of too many others that have been failures. Maybe ETRWNM. My guilty pleasure is that I don't even mind that too much.
