Disney World on Google Maps

I guess the Google Street View don't walk through the parks with the Google Street View backpack cam. I'd imagine it'd be quite difficult, especially since the parks are busy. Below is a picture of what the backpack
cam looks like.

They've been know to use the trike bike. I believe that was used for DLP.

I noticed in the 1969 photo you can see the ground is being prepared for The Asian and Venetian Resorts, it looks like they had done a little bit of work towards building them before the were cancelled
The Asian was very close to groundbreaking.

And in the 1990 photo you can see some early site work for the Mediterranean Resort just above the TTC.

Also, I totally forgot to post the EPCOT/DHS time lapse video, so here it is:

I love going to Google Maps and wandering around Disney property to see if I can find anything interesting. Does anyone else do this? No? Just me?

River Country is one of my favorite (and most emotionally stressful) places to see. Does anyone know of any other interesting Disney sights to see on Google Maps?
If you like doing that, try it with the Google Earth app with an Apple iPad! OMG the hours just fly! With Google Earth, you can zoom in closer than Google Maps and you can tilt the picture to see it from different angles three dimensionally!

Found some more neat things with Google Earth.

Zebra at Animal Kingdom Lodge:

If you look at Animal Kingdom itself, on Expedition Everest the picture was taken just as a train was stopped at the broken section of track at the summit.

Also, over at Splash Mountain you can see an empty log splashing down after Slippin' Falls.

Oh, and where's the Liberty Belle? Did it move out of frame between images?

Due to some sort of compositing error, most of the walkway between the Japan and Morocco pavilions appears to be underwater.

I just send in a ton of reports to Google Earth to due render errors showing roads appearing and disappearing behind Epcot.

Disneyland is rendered in 3D.
Looks like a three-dimensional Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff comic. I was talking about when Disney produced an official Google Earth model of the whole resort, but now for some reason this has been locked. There is still an officially rendered map of DIsneyland Paris on Google Earth though.

Yes, *this*. I could easily waste a ton of time just walking through an empty Walt Disney World via Google Earth and the 3D models (which were quite well done and almost true to real life in many cases). Now they're gone. Why?

Certainly, the models need some updating, especially to include things like FLE. But I'd rather have outdated 3D models than no 3D models whatsoever. Who do we write/call/bribe/beg/plead to get these back in place? (3D modeling is well outside of my realm of expertise, otherwise, I'd be volunteering to do it.)

FWIW, aside from the crappy terrain-based 3D (which you can turn off), there was some effort by non-Disney folks to create 3D models for Disneyland. The Matterhorn, most of MSUSA, Soarin', Mickey's Fun Wheel, and a few other items are in place, but there's a lot left to do. Again, who can we encourage to get those in place?

And, FWIW #2: Disneyland Paris has an *extensive* set of 3D models. In fact, it's so extensive that Google Earth gets a bit bogged down trying to render them all (and the fan on my computer whirs up like a jet engine).

....has WDW been removed from the Google Earth Layers menu in 'Travel & Tourism? I recall having "Mickey Head" symbols flip on over the various parks and the resorts and park buildings rendered in 3-D? This seems to be gone ...with only a Disneyland Resort choice on the menu.

On google maps in bay lake north of BLT and CR there is a large white boat on the dock, does anyone know what boat that is?

It is probably one of the ferry boats. All the small boats are parked there nightly, and the ferryboats can be when they need maintenence or fuel.
