Disney World on Google Maps

I also love using google maps to view Disney. Looking at Typhoon Lagoon and zooming in it's interesting to see the wave pool completely drained, I'm assuming the shot was take during refurbishment time.

Edit: Sorry unsure how to link it

Random and likely silly question: Are the little water ways that appear to be connected for good lengths (for instance the ones behind Typhoon Lagoon) ever used for anything? Just drainage I'm guessing.

Zoom in, dry. Zoom out, wet.
Not for me. Screencap:

This is interesting that my version doesn't show it.

It does my friend, on that very link you've just attached. Try zooming in, just zooming in once clearly shows the wave pool empty apart from vehicles etc.
I am not making this up (I work professionally with computers everyday). Here is a screen cap showing that the zoom is zoomed in all the way.

You can see that the zoom button is all the way in and greyed out. This is the same on Chrome and Safari for me.
Though doing more I think I discovered why I see a difference. If you use maps.google.com/maps and are not signed in to a gmail account you can see typhoon lagoon drained but if you are using maps.google.com/preview and are signed in to a gmail account then you see what I have posted.

Didn't think you were making it up my friend, thought you'd just not zoomed in. I think your explanation has cleared things up though, it's all very strange really isn't it.

By the way, I think that's me at the top 3rd from the left :)

haha. I felt like the crazy theory guy for a bit. I think its because Google wants to move to the newer version of maps and are pushing all mapping updates to that and letting the classic version remain stagnant.

...and after coming back and reading everyone's replies, a few more hours of my winter break have gone down the drain. I'm actually using the preview, so it isn't working now, but I think for Art of Animation, if you zoomed in far enough, it was under construction, but if you zoomed out a little it was completed.

Each zoom level is a different satellite picture taken at different distances so depending on when a certain picture was taken, the image can change as you zoom in and out.
