Disney World jabs in Shrek 4!

Shrek has to "give a day to get a day" which destroys reality.

The Far Far Away castle is red roofed when in the normal world. In the evil consumed reality of Shrek's flash sideways, the roofs are blue and the castle looks like Cinderella's Castle in MK. To make it worse, in the telling of Shrek being erased from reality, fireworks launch over the castle to celebrate the solidification of the new evil reality. Had us all in stitches.

As far as the movie, I still like 2 the best, but barely. There was some real heart and maturity in this one. Pretty dang funny from top to bottom.

Ever since I heard about the John Lasseter jab in Bee Movie, Dreamworks CGI can go die in a laser factory for all I care.

If their milking the shrek cash cow by making a direct-to-dvd quality half-hearted five minute third film and then rushing a fourth film based on nostalgia for the first to try and moneygrab weeks before Toy Story 3 wasn't enough of a groaner, make it that I've really gotten tired of the same stale comedy and general lack of admiration for Animation as whole. Sadly, American Animation is better off without it, at least so as not to inspire such an air of creative bitterness and unoriginality. good for a few laughs from time to time (Madagascar was funny, if too short) but on the whole bad enough to steer me away from any of their titles.

As an Animation fan, I say GOOD DAY SIR to dreamworks CGI!

Movie was not no where near as good as the first one. My kids enjoyed it though and some of the humor was good. Worth seeing but Toy Story 3 should be way better.

Oh good, more jokes in a Dreamworks movie are mildly humorous to some people now, but won't be funny ever again.

How surprising.

None of the jokes were in bad taste. Just a bit of satire, all in fun. None of the jokes are ever vile. If you don't think the tide washing up Ariel on Shrek as he thinks he is kissing Fiona on the beach, and Fiona throwing her to the sharks isn't funny, nothing can help your sad bitter little soul.

I am not excited about the 4th movie considering how bad the 3rd one was. I think I will watch it, though.

I was really disappointed by the third. The 2nd continues to be my favorite Dreamworks with Dragon, but that third was garbage. Here is what happens, they have kids. That is it. Nothing else important happens.

That sounds terrible!

I love all the Shrek movies, and IMO they have gotten better with each one! I know most people think the opposite, but I have been a big fan of Shrek since the start.

I think Shrek was a good idea.... for a single movie. They did great in the original, but now it's obvious they're milking the ogre's popularity.

The jokes have become less funny, the soul of the film is gone, the characters are completely played out, and it's taking the Disney vs Dreamworks debate into its movie.

That's lame. Keep the childish stuff out of the movie.

I disagree completely. The movies get funnier as they go, and the characters are far from being "played out". Also, even though I am on Team Disney 100%, I find the Disney vs Dreamworks jokes very funny.

You cannot like the Disney-hate jokes if you are a true Disney-fan. I'm sorry you're not a true fan. You probably dont even believe in Disney magic!!

Waaait a second! I am one of THE truest fans!!! I'm one of those who really believes that there is pixie dust in the air, tears up at almost ANYTHING Disney, and has been to Disney 30 times over the past 15 years. I'm also the one who really feels bad for going to Univeral Orlando! I feel like I'm cheating when I go there!! lol! I could keep going on with reasons that I am a true Disney fan lol. But just b/c I laugh at jokes against Disney doesn't mean that I'm not a true fan!

I really do love it more that anything. I just think that if you really love something, that you should have a sense of humor about it.

Just sayin.....:D

Donkey: wise-cracking donkey who seeks attention, but deep down is good-hearted and loyal

Shrek: may look ugly and mean, but has a heart of good; he burps and farts a lot

Fiona: she basically has no personality whatsoever; expect a Disney princess metaphor

Gags: Pinocchio lies and uses wooden nose to do something clever

Gingy is just a cookie but has a sassy attitude and bites off more than he can chew

Three blind mice are indeed blind and will run into things

Shrek farts and burps

Various pop culture references that have no need to be in the story and aren't funny

There is Shrek 1, 2, 3 and most likely 4

I don't agree with your judgement of the Shrek series.

Do you think Shrek's movies are better than Pixar's work?

Shrek 2 was the only one that I really cared for. Jennifer Saunders was amazing as Fairy Godmother! :D The 3rd one was horrible!

How to Train your Dragon was amazing though!

No!!!! The Pixar movies are some of the greatest ever made!!! I would choose them over Shrek anyday! I happen to find Shrek funny, but it could never compare to anything Disney/Pixar has ever done!

Three was lousy. No heart, missing the gags and smarts of 1 & 2, too many new characters that are never given a chance to do anything of interest, and it seemed like they were so happy to have landed Timberlake as Arthur that they gave him the movie and completely forgot that people are there to see Shrek. Besides, what in the world does the play at the end have to do with anything or make sense with the rest of the story?

I was VERY offended with what Dreamworks did to Lasseter in Bee Movie. That said, I think they've really produced some great movies since Madagascar (Madagascar 2 was a disaster though). My favorite Dreamworks movie will always be Flushed Away. Terrible name, fighting with Aardman and bad marketing doomed what is still one of the funniest CGI movies out there. The Dreamworks and Pixar movies have become so concerned with tugging at the heart that sometimes it's nice to have a movie like FA that doesn't try to be anything but fun.

I liked the first two Shreks, didn't think the third was bad but very very mediocre. It just wasn't very funny at all. I might see the fourth but I'm certainly not expecting much.
