Disney World in first trimester (pregnant)

I can't even believed I typed that (we've been trying for a long time)! Anywho, any tips for a first trimester mom?

I'm feeling pretty good (knock on wood) not much nausea (unless I get hungry), a little heartburn, and feeling a bit worn out (tired). But other than that, I've over the moon with excitement.

Even though I'm only early I won't be going on any rides that have a warning. I've wanted and waited for this for too long. I will be one of those super cautious women!!!

My other concern is how my hubby will be able to handle the first two kids on rides by himself. They both love having a riding partner and I can see a lot of unhappy moments because a child has to ride in the seat alone. They're 9 and 7 but love having mom and dad next to them on the rides. Not sure how that is going to play out...

As well, I'm super hungry... no really, I went from being someone who picks like a bird to devouring everything in sight. I guess I will spend my time on a bench, waiting for the fam, and eating. So what's some awesome snack suggestions that are next to all the no-go rides that I can chomp on while waiting! ;)

First off, congrats!! :) I am a mom of 3 boys!! I was in Disney when I was pregnant with my second boy. We were also there with our nephew so it was the 3 of them on a lot of rides...no worries. There are many rides you can do but I can see how you are cautious. I was fine being there but I do have a few tips for you.

REST--if you feel tired, trust your body and take it easy. Benches are your bff!!
STAY HYDRATED-- I'm not sure when you are going but no matter when, drink a lot of water, not soda. You may think you are ok but all of the walking and waiting you will be doing requires water. We were there in the summer when I was pregnant and it was hot. Animal Kingdom is especially hot---do they pipe in more heat or something? I actually felt faint there and rested in the first aid station for an hour in the air conditioning and drank a lot there. So take advantage of the first aid stations at each park, too. The staff is great there.
SLEEP-- We are park commandos but make sure you get a good nights rest so your body can regenerate from the long days in the park.
SWIM--let your body relax in the morning with a swim or even a massage!!;)
EAT--make sure you eat lots of small meals to carry on the energy and stamina you need. Buy some fruit and snack all day. If you're nauseous, try Prego Pops...they helped me.

Good luck and have fun!!!!:D

Firstly - Congrats!!! If I were expecting and hungry (synoymous for me back then ;)) - I'd want a waffle (either the chicken or Nutella) from Sleepy Hollow in MK. In Epcot, well...I'm sure I could find a cupcake or 3 at Sunshine Seasons while everyone else rides Soarin'. And maybe you could chill at Starring Rolls in DHS while they go on ToT and RnR?

Hey there!

First off congratulations!!That is fabulous news.

I went down to the world when I was expecting. At the time I was almost out of my first trimester. My only advice is to make sure you take your time, and go at your own pace. I did go back to the resort a lot and slept. I would make sure to drink lots of water and really take your time this trip to enjoy the other things. As for rides, I do remember riding the People mover a lot while my husband and my sister rode the bigger attractions. I always craved veggies-couldn't stand the sight of meat-and felt that Disney actually did pretty good to find things that I wanted....

Just enjoy and have a fabulous vacation and pregnancy!

Congrats! I went at 11-12 weeks expecting. Just listen to yourself and take it easy. I was craving cheese snacks all the time so I did get food for the trip off-site as well as crackers. Do a little extra shopping!:) I felt like too I was able to slow down and enjoy the park scenery when I couldn't do a ride. Have fun and congrats again!

Congrats it took us 2 years to get pregnant for my son. Now my wife is pregnant with twins; due in June. We went to Disney last year in late November. She was in her first trimester also. Google which rides are safe for pregnant women. You will be surprised that there are only a handful you can not ride. Of course the big rides will be a no no. Also we put in a room request at Coronado Springs; I told them my wife was pregnant and we needed to be as close to the food court as possible. They were very sympathetic and we got an awesome room. The food court rooms are closer to the main bus stop. Try it can't hurt. And once again congrats!

Congrats! And I also did Disney in my first trimester in the SUMMER! Take water bottles and fill them often is my best advice. I never knew that I had back pain until I got in the parks and made the mistake of wearing flip flops! Staring Rolls (shaded seating) is always a good snack stop close enough to rockin roller coaster and tower of terror and I do think there is an ice cream place on the left close to those as well. Also lots of treats set up around space mountain and there was a cool down station there too. On the way to Thunder mtn and Splash mtn you can get Dole Whip which is my fav MK snack! In AK there is a good quick service place next to the yak and yetti for Asian food where you could wait while they do Exp. Everest and Cali River. This is the trip I took the time to enjoy shows that I may have not watched before because I spent my time on bigger rides.

Loving all the congratulations and tips! Thanks so much. Did I mention I can't believe it!?! I guess it will hit me one of these days...? I'm very blessed to already have the two we have but this third has been wanted for a while. I get all teary (thank you hormones) that this will be our last trip as a family of four, so many wonderful memories with our big kids... and now another to share and discover the joy all over again.

Sarah, you know I'm thrilled for ya. I know how long and hard y'all wished for this. Cannot wait until you're ready to bring the 5 of ya on your first cruise! I'm totally hoping to be there!!!

Do ya think A & A would like maybe riding together and let Dad be the odd guy riding alone? Y'all could totally be opening a whole new world for them! And that way neither rides alone. Plus, gives them a chance to look out for each other. Right?

Blessings on your pregnancy, here's to a Happy and Healthy 10months:) I am 14 weeks with our 5th child and starting to come out of the morning sickness phase. We will be in WDW for one day in May, I will be about 24 weeks then. Some how with 9 trips with my 4 children I haven't been pregnant in WDW until now. I had severe nausea, hypermesis gravidarum with two of my babies and pretty gnarly morning sickness with the rest. Even if you are feeling ok now I would ask your OB about Zofran or Phenigren to take with you. The smells of WDW can make me woozy on a good day, either anti neausea medication could save a trip.
I too am eating like a Hobbit! All day every day, helps keep the m/s at bay! I know Hobbits aren't very Disney so perhaps I am as hungry as Gaston!?! No really I could eat 4 dozen eggs!
I think our ride ratio should work DS8 and DD7 can ride and DH and DD 4 can ride...I will chill and maby share a Mickey premium bar with DS2;) I am a little bummed about not being able to ride with the kids and see the cleaned up Splash Mt. But I know they will all give me a play by play:)
Post back and lets us know how you and the family did, have a Magical Vacation!
