Disneyworld will always be my favorite park. However Disneyland has some great aspects. I actually prefer DL Splash Mnt.

My DD graduates in 2017, and we are planning a big trip to either Disneyland, DisneyCruise or Disneyworld. For the Disneyland trip we are also looking at Knott's Berry Farm, Universal and Hollywood Tour. With the DisneyCruise we might try to squeeze in a few days at Disneyworld. And Disneyworld would include Universal. I have 3 years to decided but they will go by fast.

I've grown up going to WDW and prefer being there personally, but I guess you could say Disneyland Resort is a better value because they have so many rides in their 2 parks... like in WDW if you want to see Soarin', Tough to be a Bug, Tower of Terror, and the new Little Mermaid ride, you would have to buy admission to 4 different parks for multiple days, but you can see all 4 inside DCA on the same day. However there is a lot more to see and experience there over all at WDW, there's the 4 parks, 2 waterparks, and even the hotels are nice to go sightseeing at if you wanted to and some of them have their own unique shows and experiences as well

Here's how I see it...
Disneyland = Walt's Dream
Disney World Project = Walt's Dream
Walt Disney World = Walt's Legacy
Magic Kingdom = Park To Mirror DL but, Changed by Brother Roy
Epcot = Tossed on the Back Burner until plans to revive it in 1978
Everything else in the Resort After 1984 = Eisner, Eisner, Eisner and a sprinkle of Iger..

I don't like Splash Mountain. Period. Not a get-wet ride person. Something about that funky old feet smelling water. It's just a no. Not even on a hot day when I'm sweating. Then I get to smell like sweat and funky old feet. Nope nope nope.

Just got back from Disneyland for the first time. I loved it & would go back before WDW. Haven't been on a WDW parks trip since 2011. Not considering going back. Have future trips planned thru the end of 2015 but nothing at WDW more than pre-cruise hotel stay split w/friends.

I haven't been in Splash in awhile. Does their water smell like POTC's?

When we did our DL trip last summer, I was way too over eager to plan, reserve and strategize our trip. California is completely laid back and lets you enjoy the vacation, no 180 day ADRs-you could really walk up to the restaurants and just eat (even though I insisted on making reservations). Fast passes were not really needed, except for Carsland. No complaining about Disney Transportation since you stand near the entrances and see DL, DCA and Downtown Disney. Magic Express doesn't exist so you have to retrieve your own luggage. It is a great change of pace to enjoy.

I agree. While it lacks a lot of the immersion and scope as a resort, I actually find myself enjoying my visits to DL more because it doesn't feel like I am on a mission, having to plan and strategize everything. Plus while the lands at DL tend to blend together more than in the MK, I like that I can see and do a lot more without having to hike all over the place to do it.

No contest - Disneyland. Grew up on it (see picture to the left - Walt & Mickey), have fond memories of being able to run up and hug Mickey (back in the good old days when the characters could roam around the parks and interact with the guests) and once, I caught a glimpse of Walt. Yes, if you were lucky, you might see him in the Park. You parked literally at the front entrance (boy, wouldn't that be nice now). You can walk across it in 30 minutes, a brisk walk. DL has something MK doesn't - the Matterhorn. And my favorite princess's castle. Will be going there next Spring to celebrate my retirement. Can hardly wait!
