Disney Wonder in Vancouver

We did a sea plane tour in Key West last May. They're really a fun ride!
I read your trip report… mainly for that section and video… that looked awesome! I flew a couple Cessna 172’s when I was 16-17 so I would love to do a float plane!

The Ricky Kalmon Hypnosis Show- He is great, will be pleased if he is still on with our cruise, very funny, changes the show and he has done a few adult shows which for Disney is near the mark.

We saw Kalmon on our recent Fantasy cruise. I was underwhelmed. It took him 25-30 minutes to put his subjects "under" and it was like watching paint dry. Incredibly long set-up with no jokes, dialogue, interaction, whatever. We stayed to see the first "suggestion", but left after that. I hope he's more entertaining on your sailing.

Oh my word, we are not Ricky fans. We almost got up and left as well. It just seemed like such snake oil salesman stuff.

Other people clearly enjoyed him, it just wasn't for us at all. :)

The longer I post on this forum, the more crystal clear it becomes that Tammy and I are twins separated at birth. I'm heading over to geneology.com to check some background info. . .

Uhmm… why Pixar? I would love to read a navigator from the cruise… <3

Because they can't shoot fireworks on the Alaskan itinerary. So I guess they decided to scrap the whole Pirate show and go with something different. I know the Wonder had some Pixar cruises last year; maybe this celebration came from that.

Really? Is it environmental that they can’t shoot the fireworks… or because they are in US waters most of the cruise? I sort of like the idea of a Pixar celebration. Was this how it was on other cruises in Alaska AKA last year?

I honestly don't know for sure, but I'm guessing it's environmental.

I don't remember if we had a Pirates menu, but I know there were no fireworks and there was not a Pixar celebration in 2011.

We did have a pirate night. Just no fireworks. And our pirate night was pretty light out. :)

Hi, everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster! So excited to finally be going on a Disney cruise in 2 weeks (Alaska! Woo hoo!). I called DCL last week to ask about the pirate night, and I was told that fireworks are not allowed in Alaska due to wildlife concerns and restrictions, so they have substituted the Toy Story/Pixar Pals party instead (at least on our cruise - June 17th out of Vancouver). I imagine that will be the same for the rest of the summer.

Just wanted to thank you all, and Tammy especially, for your incredibly helpful advice. I haven't been on a cruise in over 15 years (and never on DCL), so I am really excited to start what I hope will be a new tradition on the Wonder!

Anyone watch the Deadliest Catch? The Time Bandit fires tons of fireworks off the deck in Alaska all the time. I guess they must have a "special" permit. ;)

I have seen Ricky on a few cruises, a Panama cruise, he was hilarious on that, and the adult show worth staying up for, do not know how he got it past DCL, I saw him on the Fantasy in August and at least one more place, think Med, not sure.
I agree with the slick salesman yes he floggs his stuff, and yes might take a bit to set it up, but once its going it has been laughs all the way.
Maybe its down to the crowd you have up on the stage, I do know on one he 'rejected' a few at the start and had to 're employ' others, I saw people in the audience right next to me go under. Now I am a normal disbeliever of stuff, its all done with mirrors and smoke but he was good. RCI had one and you could see it was all pre arranged. Do cruise RCL at least once, to see how good DCL really is!!!
Maybe the 'subjects' on your cruises were not good, but thats one show I do not want to miss.

It definitely could have been our show. I can see how the subjects would make a big difference. :)
