I swear when I know I have a Disney trip coming up I go crazy with withdrawls. Its worse then anything. How do you get over the withdrawls and long days till your trip:hammer::hammer::lookaroun

I usually have withdrawals after my trips, when I don't have another one planned. I leave in 4 days though, and you're right, the days are moving slowly! I've been listening to my Disney music a lot, and have watched a few movies. I also made a little binder w/all of our confirmation numbers, lists of things we want to do, etc. It helps!

My suggestions:
-Listen to Disney CD's (Four Parks, One World helps!)
-Watch YouTube videos of the attractions & shows
-Spend a lot of time on the boards
-Watch Disney movies, read Disney books
-Make a scrapbook of your last trip, it'll take some time up
-Visit local Disney stores, if any are still open around you

I don't have withdrawals BEFORE a trip. I have excitement. A continuing building surge.

As I have written before, I actually get down a bit when we are actually en route because I think about how soon it will be over. Always too soon, even when we stay a full week.

Of course, driving under the arches eliminates that feeling.

As to the AWFUL feeling when it IS over. Two of our best ways to deal with that on the trip home are to buy the latest Music from the Parks CD and plan the next trip.

Then when we are home, we can always come to WDWMagic and enjoy everyone's experience.

We go every winter, either January or February. So on the trip home of each trip, we begin discussing the next ones dates, places to eat, things to do etc. Meanwhile during the year, we look over past years albums, videos we did, and all the great sites chock full of great info and especially the Pictures posted which are amazing.

This is exactly what I'm going thru. The moment I get back, I already want to plan my next trip.

The worst of it is that I was a Disney hater. My wife was trying to get me there for years and I kept resisting. I finally gave in when my kids were 7 and 5. Once I got there and saw the castle, everything changed.

Sadly, for my wife, the Disney lover all her life, she now can barely stand it. I have to fight to make each new trip. In fairness to her, we have had major stuff happen each trip, either just before or just after. Be it major car or house expenses and even a skin cancer scare. She now is starting to equate the Disney trips with bad things happening. Even though I tell her the things would have happened anyways, even without the trips.

So, we were just there the week before Easter for our 4th trip in 4 years and she said the earliest we will be back is June of 2011, and she would like to wait until 2012!!!

I dive into this site and others to pass the time between trips but I don't know if it actually helps or just shows me what I'm missing!

I can understand your wife's stress. On the flip side, at least you had Disney trips to make those horrible things more bearable :sohappy:.

I DO understand though... we always have horrible things happen before our Feb trips... for the last 4 years! 1st Feb trip DS4 was hospitalized with severe iron-deficient anemia 3 weeks before our trip. Wasnt going to go because he was on a strict diet and was being monitored, but went anyway. I was very stressed! 2nd Feb trip both boys came down with strep throat 2 days before our trip. 3rd Feb trip I came down with the flu ON THE WAY DOWN! This past Feb our septic system failed 2 weeks before our trip. Good times. :lookaroun. Lots of stress leading up to these Feb trips, too much drama! I declared after this past Feb trip NO MORE DISNEY TRIPS IN FEB! DH was upset, he thought I meant we were only going once a year now. I clarified by saying that we are moving our Feb trips to April . Maybe there will be less drama (BTW, we hardly ever have drama before our summer trips! We usually go Feb & July/Aug.).

Hopefully you won't have to wait until 2012. Thats a LONG time away...

I am ALWAYS suffering from withdrawls! Whether its just before, just after, or long after a trip, I'm always wishing I was there! I actually feel queasy in the stomach when it gets really bad! We are leaving 3 weeks from today and the withdrawls are getting really, really bad! I'm excited, for sure, but that darn Disney withdrawl sucks!

Scrapbooking helps me get through. I always have a Disney scrapbook to work on. It helps alot. It gives me new ideas of where to take new pictures and poses and stuff for the next scrapbook, so that keeps my mind thinking and planning things out.

I am always planning trips. That ALWAYS helps the withdrawl. Even if they are not booked yet, they are at work in my mind. Right now, I've got 2 Fall trips to WDW coming together so both of my DD's Grandma's can see her in her Halloween costume trick or treating when they come down for seperate visits this fall, and we're also planning a Disney Cruise on the new ship for June 2011, but I'm sure we'll head over to WDW sometime even for a short escape between the Fall visits and the June cruise, cause the withdrawls will probably become too much to bear!

I agree whole heartedly, however the suffering is always worse when you return to reality. Its been 22 days since we returned and its 238 days until we go back to our happy place.

I am not sure how Radio Buena Vista is going to work on me. After listening for 10 minutes I am back in the parks, then a kid screams and I go down the hallway to be thrown back into reality.

I think I might need to go put some hidden Mickey's back into the rugs until they are vacuumed again. *sigh*

Live365 is our solution! You can't beat listening to park music at home. We probably listen a few hours each day on average. :sohappy:

Everytime I go in a mall or near a Disney store I have to walk in.....thank goodness I can use my 5 month old as an excuse now. But like others have said I live on this site and other boards; reading trip reports, looking at pictures, and if I hear anyone say anything about planning a trip I make sure they know my "expertise" and knowledge is available to them at anytime.

It also helps/hurts that I have a good friend at work and we are constantly talking about different Disney related things.

Might I also suggest http://www.Dtuneslive.com I like it a little more the live365, no commercials you have to sit through....all Disney all the time!!!

Drink more alcohol! :lookaroun :ROFLOL:No, seriously though...I usually start planning the next trip soon after we get home and just start the whole cycle all over again. We have been going every two years during our Spring Break, and it does fly by pretty quickly. Coming on this site helps for sure, as well as talking about it with the family. We usually talk about what we can't wait to do on the next trip, what rides we can't wait to ride again and things like that.

Ugh! I wish my family loved Disney like that! I live in a house of people who DREAD going to Disney World! I have no one to discuss anything "Disney" with!

I love reading what all you guys say about the World. I too have a problem with can't hardly wait for my next trip. my problem is I have no one to talk to but ya about it. my husband doesn't get my love for Disney. He doesn't act like (most of the time) he minds me going but he doesn't really want to talk about it. He thinks I'm a little nuts. don't get me wrong he's a good man and he's very good to me he just doesn't understand my fascination with disney world. this coming trip will be me and my sister's third trip and I can't wait. her birthday is in july and I will tell her then that we are going back in oct of this year instead of 2011

I get Disney withdrawal before I've even left Disney. When its the last day and I walk under the Railway Station arches as I leave MK, it hits me then.

Unfortunatly, WDW may not happen for me this year and I'm starting to go cold turkey.
