So why am I posting at 6:25 instead of running? Because when walking over to Thunder Mountain frim the Hub yesterday, I stumbled and somehow did something to my knee - I felt it right there and then. Yes, I tried to trip on a flat surface, which I do more frequently than I like, it's the klutz in me. When we stated at the Boardwalk, it was a running joke with my running partners in crime if I was going to trip while walking through the lobby. Because. I. Did. It. Every. Single. Time. And always my right foot, lol.
Soooo, when my alarm went of at 2:30 this morning, I knew when I got up I wouldn't be running the half. Not only was my knee hurting, my left hip decided to join it. I knew there was no way I was going to make that race and it would be foolish to even try. So I hobbled to the ice maker for some ice and put an ice pack on my knee. And went back to bed. Woke up about an hour ago (really difficult to sleep with a somewhat damp towel laying on your knee). Am i disappointed? Yeah. But the way that knee was feeling, I could very easily have stumbled and fallen. That I wanted to avoid. There's that broken left arm from May 2016 that's always in the back of my mind as I'm "running" on the always damp Boardwalk.
So, no Half or Challenge medals for me this time.
But I'm happy, considering everything, that I finished both the 5k and 10k.
Time to get up for real and eat breakfast! And have several cups of tea because, well, I don't have to worry about consuming quantities of liquid before running 13.1 miles with few bathrooms...and those Balloon Ladies lurking in the background, lol.
