Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

Based on the wine & dine runs I’ve done it should’ve been out a couple weeks back. Not really sure the hold up
I’d use Springtime Surprise as a reference for this. That weekend also took a while to post their event guide. If memory serves it was around 2 weeks out.

EDIT: How do the tickets for the after hours party work? When/How are they given to challenge and half marathon runners?

I guess I’m just confused on why. What’s the purpose?
At least recently, the guide when first released wasn’t complete. It would still receive updates after it was posted. I think now they are trying to make it as complete as possible before it leaks out or whatever. That’s why it’s currently password protected. The amount of people who are on top of leaking this stuff is crazy so I think Disney is trying to stop that.

Have I told you lately that I 👍 you?
Event Guide and maps are up (or have leaked!)

Appears the Half only goes through two parks, lots of road time! 😲 [Used to start at TTC and run through AK to HS to Epcot]

I’m sad to miss out on DAK, but no Osceola Parkway means I’m doing a happy dance! 😂 Very similar to the ToT 10-miler, which was a fun course. I loved the triple park aspect of the old layout, but the DHS portion was such a tease. I’m fine with the change, but I can also certainly sympathize with newer runners who may be disappointed.

I liked the 10-miler course and appreciate the run through more of HS here, but from about mile 6.2 to almost mile 12, you are highway running, seems weird that they’d get almost all of the time running through parks and resorts out of the way in the first 50% of the race.

Looks like the Half starts out on the road (like Marathon and Princess), so will be a long walk pre-race to those corrals too! 😃

This is my first in-person half, little disappointed it won’t be going though AK. Wanted to run though Pandora, but at the same time I loved the TOT 10-miler course and running though HWS was a highlight and definitely fun. That seems like a lot of road time between parks.

Oh you’re right, since the start goes the opposite way, it does have the long walk. I was thinking it would be set up like Springtime Surprise, where it was all self-contained in the back lot. Boo.

I do agree it’s obnoxious that a lot of the back end of the race is unflattering road miles. I’m guessing it helps with opening the other parks a little earlier/easier and then they only have to worry about Epcot.

I do like running through Future World only for the finish. For some reason, running the last miles around World Showcase makes them seem so much longer to me. Purely a mental thing, but by the time I pass China, I’m starting to think Mile 12 is secretly 7 miles long! 😂 “Why is SSE so far away?!?”

Oooof that half course is so boring. Won’t miss the sun rising leaving AK but still way too much time on empty roads.

EDIT: didn’t notice how much in Hollywood studios. I kinda love that.

I miss AK tho.
Yep, it’s basically the 10-Miler stretched with 3.1 extra road miles. I can see where maybe doing an Epcot start would make it tough to get to Animal Kingdom, but Blizzard Beach seems like it would have been doable rather than adding long out-and-backs (they’ve run through that park on Marathon routes before) unless it’s a mess with construction right now or something.

I really wonder why they decided to stop doing the start from TTC which would seem to make it easy to get through all three parks, my total guess is that maybe they were tired of issues with shuttling people pre-race from Epcot and drivers getting lost on the way?
