It's now official that I won't be making it to Wine & Dine this year and I'll hate to miss seeing everyone at all the festivities, BUT, the good news is, I got selected in the lottery for a bib to do the NYC Marathon!! It was my first time entering the NYC lottery, so I feel very lucky to have gotten a spot and I don't think I've ever been so happy/relieved to see a new $295 charge hit my account, haha!

Congratulations!!!!

Can anyone confirm with certainty which parks the Nov 6, 2022 W&D Half Marathon will run through?

I saw a post on another Disney blog that says AK and finish in EP......Then I found a map online for this race in another disney fan site from 2018 that touched 3 parks: AK, HS and EP. The WDW official website doesn't give much info at all about the course. Not sure why.

I'm planning a vacation that starts that day and want to avoid at all costs the park with runners going through it, and causing traffic issues.

I don't think the course map is released until a few weeks before the race. However, based on past maps, I'd expect AK->DHS->EPCOT.

Unless there are changes to the courses, the 5K will be entirely Epcot (really wish they'd go back to DAK), 10k will be from MK parking lot to DHS to Epcot, Half will be MK parking lot to DAK to DHS to Epcot.

That's what I'm thinking. If I remember correctly, that's been the course since I started running the W&D Half when it shifted to a morning race.

Thank you both.

I see the race starts off at 5am...... I wonder what time the bulk of the runners have passed through the roped/coned off area and it is removed from the park? With it being the first park to pass through, I may start my vacation at DAK and just deal with it. I have moved Epcot off of my agenda for that Sunday as it is both the finish area and after party.

I wonder when Disney will issue more definitive info? Has to be some time well before the actual race day.

Are you referring to the staging/start/finish areas in both MK & Epcot? Those won't be broken down each day as they are in the parking lots.

Roads impacted by the races will be closed each morning from around 3:30, 4:00 AM to around 8:00. After that time, some lanes will reopen.

Within each park, once the park opens, the course runners can take through the park will be narrowed. Cones will be put up and guests may be held at certain points to allow runners to pass through. Most runners should clear the 3 parks on the day of the Half by the time each park opens.

I'm mainly concerned with their route through the actual inside of the park, along with any impact on traffic to gain access to parking by car. In Epcot's case since there is an after party there I will just avoid it alltogether. But you're suggesting that by 9am or so most of the runners or all will have already passed through the parks.

Having just learned of this event in another thread and looking at last years' course I basically changed my reservations around to move Epcot OFF of the Sunday itinerary. We don't want to start with MK, so I put DAK as our Sunday park instead. If they're gone or mostly gone by park opening then this is NBD.

The After Race Party starts at 10:00 PM Sunday evening. The park closes at 9:00 PM. However, those with tickets to the Party can enter beginning at 5:00 PM at a separate entrance. I wouldn't let the After Race Party be your deciding factor. And runDisney will start breaking down the parking lot in Epcot used for the Half starting around noon.

In addition, runners will be swept at any point along the course if they fall behind the pacers. This will facilitate the openings of both DAK and DHS Sunday AM.

The last runners should start before 6am, inside the parks at AK ends at about mile 5 and they are clear of the parking lot by about mile 6. There is a 16 min mile pace requirement, so everybody from the back of the pack should be clear of animal kingdom by 7:30 Sunday, probably a little earlier.

A 10k being 6.2 mile, runners should be completed and through any parks by 7:30 Friday and Saturday too.

Also, not all of Epcot parking is impacted, there’s more than enough parking for guests too on race weekends.

Runners usually enter Epcot via the International Gateway as we get from DHS to Epcot via the Boardwalk. Most of our Epcot time is in World Showcase.
