Too Late.

Now how can I reply without starting a obesity war. It's great to see that WDW is doing their bit tho it should have been done years ago.But here's the problem. The kids who arrive will probably be over weight in the first place. I blame the parents, and I see mums and dads over here in Scotland who are waaaay over weight and their kids are just the same.I watched the Jamie Oliver show when he went to America to try and convert this college canteen food for a healthy option.Anyway before I get carried away, good to see Disney doing something positive.

No wars here! I agree with you!

Yes!

Better to have a corporation decide this than a gov't telling everyone what to do and a fat tax.

I am obese, but thankfully my children are not.:)
Thanks to a healthy eating program @ school, our entire family eats better all around as , of course my entire life, I am trying to lose weight.

However, the "healthy lifestyle" also includes exercise. Our society needs a different mindset in general, and everyone seems to be trying to help (including schools).

On a side note: many poor families here in WV would like to eat much healthier foods, but their choices are limited due to cost.:(

I am glad Disney is behind this "healthful" way of eating, but in the end it is still a person's choice- sorry to say ( myself included).

W...w...won't this traumatise obese children? Like Habit Heroes?

I hope Big Food destroys this initiative like their lobby did with Habit Heroes. :zipit:

How about people taking it upon their own self. I did and lost 80 pounds. Having others discipline you or your kid's eating habits will end just there.

Yes- it takes self-control, self-worth, and self-discipline to lose weight as well as maintain a healthy weight.
I know when I am in Disney though, I really don't eat too much ( too excited) and we walk a lot of course, so actually I lose weight on a Disney vacation!

Of course, and great job. What I'm referring to is if a corporation decides to take a stand, then great, more power to 'em. The nanny state forcing it's citizens is the problem.

Ok, I will try to say this in a way that it doesn't hurt any feelings. I apologize in advance if I offend you. If you want to lose weight stop eating so much and excercise. We can't all be Ralph Lauren models, I'm not, but at least try to be balanced and don't rely on restaurants or other companies to try and curb your caloric intake.

Also, leave the wheelchairs at Disney for people who have disabilities:)

Its always a "medical condition" that is causing people to be obese. We live in a world of excuses where nobody ever takes any responsibility for their own self. Sickening...

The best way to combat childhood obesity is for parents to take responsibility, encourage their children to eat healthy and exercise and help them make healthy choices.

The fact that some think the best way to combat it is instead to eliminate all other options so that people have no choice but to do the "right" thing is a sad statement.

This needn't turn into a discussion about obesity in general, or weight-loss attempts, or overweight people using ECVs.

Disney is making a policy change (seemingly, at least) in an attempt to make it a little easier for kids/families to eat healthier. By refrusing to take money to promote unhealthy stuff, Disney is voluntarily reducing its ad revenue in the name of doing a bit to improve kids' health. Good for TWDC.

sure, it would be great if companies/governments didnt have to do get involved, but most people OBVIOUSLY arent doing it on their own.

Disney is hoping to ride the goodwill to better sales.

I was ready to come in here and disagree about Disney doing this, but your point changed my mind.

This is an even better point. :sohappy:
