Wow, they did it.

My desire to go on a Disney Cruise has dropped from 1% to .2%.

mine... .2 to .00000069%

Yes, definitely y'all should steer clear since its a requirement that all children run the decks of the ship screaming "Ice cream break!" while alarm horns blare. After hours when the children are worn out it becomes the duty of all adults on a rotating schedule. It's awful!

You may want to get ready, tho. I heard that kid has been such a hit that dozens of others just like him are being recruited by Disney so they can cover all the parks & resorts, too. May start thinking of where you might go when they all arrive....

LOL! I couldn't not do it!

:D

**edit**
No! Wait! 'Move It Shake It' is already doing the obnoxious "Ice Cream Break!!!" in the Magic Kingdom! I can commiserate. That blaring racket makes me want to run for the hills, too. :)

My first thought was "If your interest in a Disney cruise is LESS than 1%, why are you reading a Disney cruise forum?

You just expressed it better than I would have.

Yeah...videos like that are kind of becoming a thing and apparently the longer the better.

My kids watch videos of people playing MineCraft.

So wait, now you are not just wasting time playing a video game, instead you are wasting time by watching someone else who you don't even know play it instead?

I can't fathom the attraction. However, every time I think along these lines I am reminded of all the infomercials I have seen where I say "What fool would buy that - yet I am sure thousands of people have bought that thing that mixes an egg inside the shell. As George Carlin once said (in the late 70's I believe) "if you nail together two things that have never been nailed together before, some shmuck will buy it."

There are entire YouTube channels dedicated to that. Achievement Hunter is a division of RoosterTeeth and while many of their videos are showing you how to get achievements, their "Let's Play" series is insanely popular and actually quite good. In the case of "Let's Play" the appeal is not so much the game but the interaction between the people playing it. Their Minecraft series is incredibly funny and it would not surprise me if your kids are watching some of their let's play Minecraft videos.

I hope the MineCraft videos are more PG than the stupid Call of Duty crap my 16 yro watches. I was raised by sailors (dad & step-dad). I grew up with 3 older brothers & all their sick-o friends. I worked in high-stress law enforcement communications. There's not a lot I can hear that shocks me. But to hear so many sweet little voices saying such filth and trash talking...ugh! I wanna go thru the screen & wash out some mouths! Then there's the self-proclaimed pros...I swear to you these people enjoy listening to themselves talk THAT much. It's crazy. ChrisSmoove is the one I actually like listening to while I'm doing other stuff because he's funny. I heard him make his reference to the AC-130 (he calls it the a-word-clapper) and about died laughing. Then the laughs and when he starts singing in auto-tune about all the people he's killing and it comes out just funny. Sounds awful but it's funny. Much better than the neomaxizoomdweebie who can't shut up about how awesome he is. The teenager love the commentaries. The only thing that excites them more is when they see themselves in others' game play videos.

So yeah, for me it's: wasting all that time playing video games, spending so much on the collectors/limited/prestige edition games (DS16 has the $192 BlackOps2 Care Package Edition reserved), AND the time spent watching others play the games. It's beyond me. Then again, in the summer of '87 my older brother & a couple of our cousins took turns working around the clock to defeat the two games we had on our Super Nintendo: Super Mario Brothers & Mike Tyson's Punchout. If I remember correctly we were at it marathon-style for at least 72 - 96 hours. Times are just different, I suppose. And it's their hard-earned money being spent on the games so I can't knock that too much.

DS14 plays MineCraft. I don't think I entirely get that game or how it's a game but whatever. I'm not the target on that one, either.

Love George Carlin. The man was a comic genius! We got hold of Mom & Dad's "A Place for my Stuff" when we were kids and thought he was the funniest thing we ever heard. LOL!

Minecraft is not really a game as there is no real point or end goal. It is a world that you can manipulate by mining resources and building things. It is not really my thing but I can see how people get lost in there for weeks on end.

Here is one of the Achievement Hunter Minecraft videos. There is a little foul language but nothing like your average Call of Duty video. For a good laugh, fast forward to about 16:45 where Michael presses the "button"

Here is what I do not understand. If you have so little chance of every going on a Disney Cruse, why do you waste time reading the posting about the Disney Cruse Line?

I don't actually read through certain sections of the forum... it's what appears in my "latest threads and comments" tab on the new site design. I could care less which section it's in, if its something that catches my eye, in terms of the topic name, I'll read it.

I can understand the appeal of Minecraft - I used to play SimCity and games like that back in the day. I still don't unerstand the videos. Tutorial ones, yes. But people just screwing around, no. Especially when they have the most annoying voices on the face of the earth.

The videos are however the people record them. Some of the Minecraft things were HIGHLY inapproiate. Refences to "what I would like to do to that character" etc - I don't think I need to paint a picture for you.

I used to play a lot of kids games - Wizard101, VMK, FunKeys, Pirates of the Caribbean. etc because my kids did and it was always "dad, won't you make a character so we can play together?". Of course I had to try to keep us all at the approximate same level, so I would at times be playing alone, or sometimes playing their characters for them. Even on kids games, people come up to you and as "do you want to date", "do you want to be my girl/boy friend?" and worse. On games that allowed full chat is was great to be able to answer back "um, no, I'm a 40 y/o man, and quite likely so are you"

There are a lot of worrisome people out there.

And I went out and BOUGHT "Class Clown" - my parents would have never owned it. We kept it hidden and listend when they weren't around. :)

Oh my! Uh, yeah. Now I know why I'm a happier camper spending any precious spare time behind my sewing machine. LOL! I did like playing Need for Speed Hot Pursuit (the 1st one for PS2) with the guys but never did any online play. I also really enjoy playing Rock Band with the oldest son. We've done online play with that once but I don't recall anyone sending messages. We just played our song list & had fun. LOL!
