Disney Treasure, DCL’s 6th ship, debuts in 2024

criticisms of the triton class are massively overblown and mostly laughable.

I haven't sailed the Wish, so I can't say from personal experience, but I've read enough reviews that say it was fine, but they wouldn't sail it again to say that the criticisms aren't laughable. There's a LARGE pool of DCL lovers who won't sail it again. That doesn't seem laughable to me.

I would be curious to see overall reviews and not those from the vocal on the internet. I presume that if there are serious issues, we will see some updates (where possible) on Treasure. After all, Wonder and Magic aren’t identical. Neither are Fantasy and Dream. And the differences go beyond theming.

It's not just "the vocal". I have clients and personal friends who have sailed it and given me very similar reactions.

I’m sure, but that’s anecdotal, nevertheless. I’d be curious to see data from the 100s of thousands who have boarded. Not that we have any access to such data.

Having sailed on every ship and the Wish multiple times I can say most (not all) of the criticisms are laughable. It’s fine to have a personal preference and it’s fine to not like some of the changes. But many of the complaints are absurd because they are objectively false or they are complaints that could be equally applied across the fleet.

Interestingly among repeat DCL cruisers the Wish rates poorly, however among first time DCL cruisers it ranks highest in the fleet. People just don’t like change.

I’ll give you the prices are high, but criticisms of the triton class are massively overblown and mostly laughable.
Laughable, really? Who's to judge that? What I found laughable was breaking up the promenade deck over three decks, separated by stairs. That's what I want for my morning laps, for sure. Then there's the inconsistency of the door controls, some of them.are.touchless, others require a push, but no indication of which is which.

There are many beautiful spaces on the Wish, but they are very poorly laid out. The Bayou is gorgeous, but it shouldn't be the D Lounge. I went to a couple of crafty sessions there, and the tussle.for seats was insane. Many participants wound up sitting on the floor in the corridors in front of the luxury shops. Great look! But that just shouldn't happen. Luna wants to be the D Lounge, but somehow can't pull.it off, especially in the evening.

Enchante is a beautiful space, but it and Palo are awkwardly laid out, much too linear. If you get a booth in Palo on the Wish, you're golden, but every other table has no view. I never even managed to find the adult section on the Wish.

The tiny adult area on the Wish is something I’d consider a major design flaw.

At least they are fixing the elevator buttons.

I suspect it may be a design choice and not a design flaw based upon the crowd Disney would like (perhaps “families where the parents stay with their kids and, like, supervise them rather than let them run amuck, amuck, amuck”). Along that vein, there are also fewer bars and more coffee shops because caffeinated parents supervise children better than drunk parents. Do you hear that, parents-who-have-no-idea-their-kids-are-doing-cannonballs-in-the-hot-tub-on-Royal-Caribbean?!?!

Fewer bars? On the Wish?

At least when I was walking around, there were far more places serving coffee and fewer focused on booze than I recall. I’m sure some of the coffee shops serve booze later but just about everyone in line whenever I went was getting $7 coffees.
More bars was one of the things that was highlighted during the "Making of the Wish" talk we attended, because "so many people couldn't find the bars on the other DCL ships". It could be that they serve coffee in the mornings? I'm not a coffee person, so I wouldn't know.

It was a Christmas cruise with a ton of kids so maybe people just weren’t getting alcohol. Espresso (but fancy) in every hand!

Will Treasure be only shorter sailings as the Wish seems to be? We'd like to try a Disney cruise (on a new ship) one day, but we won't cruise under 7 nights.

thanks!

Personally, I’m very interested to hear about the spaces this week. What we have seen so far with respect to theme is appealing but I want to see the fleshed out concepts. I don’t want a HM lounge with the iconic wallpaper, one candelabra, and nothing else. Themed to the nines and it’s a conversation.

While Wish wasn’t my favorite cruise ship design ever, it was beautiful and we had a great time. I’m definitely interested in one more when the kids are 12 before they age out of Oceaneer Club. That’ll be a sad day.

Nah. The teen clubs can keep them even more occupied than they were in the Oceaneer Club. :)

and yet here you are. Why even comment?
With all due respect, the last time I checked this was a discussion forum, not a "comment only if you fully agree and support the topic" forum. And dissent is the only way to change anything with Disney (you should know that :) ).
