Disney to sue park in italy?

OK let me get this straight, this is an interesting topic that everyone might have to see. there is a park in italy called Movieland Studios. it is part of a resort complex called canevaworld (not to be a nerd or any how Movieland is the only amusement park in the complex) at this park they have a ride that is eerily familiar to TOT. here are some pictures:

dosent it look eerily familiar to TOT? now im gonna post a video which is the rides pre-show:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWXh...orld.it/movieland/thehollywoodactiontower.php

now that i showed you all the reasons why this is similar to TOT lets name some reasons off the bat why this is similar to TOT
  1. A Freefall tower attraction
  2. Hollywood Tower sign up on top is a refernce to the "The Hollywood Tower Hotel" sign uptop at TOT
  3. Same style preshow
Now think about this question in your head. should disney sue canevaworld for the similarites of The Hollywood Action Tower and TOT or disney shouldn't. i know disney/pixar hasn't started the lawsuit yet to that brazil animation company that made Ratatoing for the similarites to ratatoullie. but this is more serious that Ratatoing. THAT (the hollywood action tower in abbrivation. yes i know pretty silly) looks more like TOT then Ratatoing looking more like Ratatoullie. so know for the second time make up your minds. should disney sue this pak or not?

To me, it's nothing at all like ToT, but exactly like Free Fall at Six Flags over Georgia.
  1. A Freefall tower attraction
  2. Hollywood Tower sign up on top is a refernce to the "The Hollywood Tower Hotel" sign uptop at TOT
  3. Same style preshow
those are the 3 rasons why it does. look more carefuly

i know they are similar, but i will be very hard to prove that they stole the idea. if it was a hotel like setting, and had more similarities, then they would have something

I see what you are talking about, but if they haven't sued the parks in China or where ever that really look like a Disney knock off, I doubt that they would sue because of this ride. Sure the sign and the video look some what like a copy of Disney, the ride it's self does not. IMO.

i think the story line is different. i know italian, and to what i can hear, the story line is different

also if disney hasnt sued that park in china, or every copy cat out there, i highly doubt they are going to sue the park
also the ride is different, yeah it has the drop, but then it looks like the car goes into a rollercoaster ride type
just my 2 cents

This thing reminds me so much of Freefall, which I hate. I guess I am a Disney snob but I really loathe the Great Adventure 6 Flags parks. In fact, the only way you can get me in one is to check out all the DC Comics stuff they have.

I just love Disney too much.

i never go on any free fall rides accept the tower of terror. after that accident with that girl in six flags, i am cautious on any ride at six flags. i never think about it when i m at disney, universal, busch garden, seaworld, and cyprus gardens. if its another park, i am soooooooooo cautious.
isnt that funny
am i the only one like that

If this ride were in the US I could see Disney suing in a second as the similarities in theming are way to close to be considered coincidental. Whomever owns the rights to Twilight Zone music used in ToT should definitely has a case as the music in the pre-show is almost definitely a straight rip.

Is the term 'Hollywood Tower' trademarked? It seems a very generic term and Disney aren't the first to do an off-kilter sign, nor black and white television. However, I do hear the TZ theme in the pre-show video and the idea of lightning striking a tower, causing an elevator to fall (regardless of ride system) sounds a bit ropey.

I can see some similarities, but not enough to warrant a lawsuit, or to guarantee Disney's victory.

To me this is a great example of what sets Disney apart from other parks. While the ride elements are essential the same, the themeing and immersion is certainly not. Disney easily doubles if not triples the money spent on a ride to build the themeing around it. Look at EE, they built a free standing coaster, then a moutain around it, then a seperate stucture to support the yeti. Thats the Disney difference.

That video is source quality - are we sure the audio hasn`t been dubbed by a fan at home? If not then it is CBS who may think about sueing since they own the trademark & copyright of The Twilight Zone.

As for the mouse sueing, no way. Disney have no claim to a freefall ride, the theme of a (dubious) video or the words Hollywood Tower. It`s a rip off, yes, but legally nothing is wrong.

Those of you saying it looks like s SF freefall? Appears to be a 1st-Gen Intamin drop ride, which is exactly what the SF freefalls are (or more appropriately, were since most of them wound up being sold off). Maybe it literally IS a SF freefall.

Pretty much how I see it. The music situation (if that is the actual music used in the preshow) is something CBS might want to look into. As far as Disney is concerned, yes its a rip off of ToT, but a feeble one at best, and not something to get all worked up about.

That's similar to the Tower of Terror? Really? Are you trying to inflame us to action or just making us laugh, because it's not the first one...

Does Disney have some type of responsibility to maintain their intellectual property? I was under the impression that if you don't actively protect your intellectual property that you can lose the rights to it in the future? A few years ago the Univ of Miami sued a high school in Oklahoma (I think it was Union HS) because their helmet design was too similar to the U of Miami's. I don't think Miami has any real worry of competition from the HS, I was under the impression that they needed to fight it to maintain their trademark and prevent trademark dilution in the future. Is this not true (I'm not a lawyer so I honestly don't know).

I vote no sue (since apparently we get to decide). :lookaroun

I'd rather see them spend money on developing new stuff than going to court to pick on podunk theme parks nobody's heard of.
