It's this image which appears to be poster art from a SWW several years ago. Good enough to start a rumor, huh?

I heard they were measuring the depth of the lake for the X-ring

I'll admit here - I'm not s Star Wars fan and rarely ride Star Tours. I'll be curious about how its all executed, but I wish something totally different was being built.

People keep raving on All the great work Universal is doing and I just don't get it. Harry Potter Is fabulous well diagonal Ally is that is a complete lose yourself world. Where you enter and completely lose yourself in it and do not feel or here anything else in the park! Simply amazing. The original Harry Potter was far from that extremely cool as we are big big fans of the movie but the fact that I turn and see out of place roller coasters or other out of place building it does not make you feel the same.

The lets look at the rides and what they are doing. After riding everything in the park today I felt I was riding the same ride over and over again. The fact that transformers and spider man is the same damn ride vehicle is just sad! You would struggle knowing what was different in those rides. You spin you bounce almost in same pattern. The the fact that everything is screens it just lacks something to me.

Simpsons is a cool little area but it looks and feels like something I see at my local mall. Nothing that outrages or really any creative ump to it. It was neat to see but not memorable.

Dragon ally was for sure memorable!

With all of that being sad I really believe Disney can do something special with Star Wars. Just I hope they do diagonally good and not hogwart. Making it when you walk into the world you are lost and onky see and feel that experience. Don't build quick to just get it open be original and make it something specials and unique.

Yes, Transformers is similar to Spiderman, but I give them a pass on this since Transformers was sort of a bonus attraction. Rumor is that they had some money they need to get rid of so they threw up an E-Ticket in less then a year in a unused space in the park. If Disney were to throw up a clone of Indiana Jones from DL in a year I wouldn't complain, even it they put it right next to Dinosaur.

Really easy to clone a big giant square box with next to no the theming and a bunch of screens. It is not apples to apples comparisons. Don't give them credit for something as simple as what they did.

Gove them credit for Potter as it is deserved not the other stuff.

I wasn't comparing anything, just stating that I would have been happy with just the addition of Diagon Alley, which is fabulous, but it was a nice bonus to get Transformers at around the same time. Even though it's not the level of exterior theming as Diagon, it's still a technically complex ride and I do give them credit for being willing to spend the money to build it and build it quickly. If all Uni was doing were things like Tranformers and Simpson I would be critical, but we are getting these smaller projects along with the major projects like Potter phase 1 and 2 and Kong.

Now if you want a comparison, Disney is scheduled to take two years for the TSMM second track and they don't even need to build the box.

P.S. Before anyone asks, yes, another thread has turned into a Uni vs Disney debate and I am not going to apologize for that. ;)

Lol companies just don't find extra money and if they come in under budget they disclose that.

This was a planned ride that the story got spun to make it look like a good or move.

No public company mist goes oh we got extra money from this project build something else.

There are people around here that know more about that situation then I do, so maybe they will chime in.

I'll give them plenty of credit. Transformers blew me away last November. The heat, the effects, the made-for-ride movie....great ride. Instead of comparing it to Spiderman (which even if you do, is universally called the best ride in the park) look at it as a stand-alone ride and its fantastic.

Transformers was built, just because they could. Disney has never built an E-ticket, just because. In fact they're going to go 11 years between E-tickets when prior to DAK they never went more than 11 years between PARKS.

Maybe the thoughts on what an E tickets are changed over the past 11 years. In my mind mine train is a E ticket. It is a huge ride that has some level of thrill but also keeps up with the MK levels of thrills. Right for families. It is a good ride and the technology is used with the cars tilting is very very cool yes it is short yes it does not loop or drop but it is a great little ride.

Spider-Man and transformers both used the tool of fire it is not an original thing in that type of ride. They are both very very cool but the detail and work that goes into creating a mine train or a splash mountain are night and day above transformers or Spider-Man.

I am not knocking universl here I enjoyed each and every ride but I felt the entire park lacked theming and just a lose your self environment. potter land was the exception as I have noted.

I started my statement as saying I want wdw to do the job done in diagonal Ally with Star Wars.

Transformers and Springfield are bonus additions. They took over an empty soundstage and a smelly international 80s-esque cafeteria. Both are great for what they are.

Kong will have that detail of Mine Train, Splash Mountain, the Potter areas, etc. from what insiders are saying.

However, I agree that the FJ show building and Dragon Challenge do hamper Hogsmeade. Personally, I want to see the show building finished up and DC removed for a Phase 3 expansion.

Put in a Ford Anglia family dark ride, Everest-esque coaster themed to Triwizard Tournament (lavish theming, AAs, etc), Shrieking Shack show, Whomping Willow flat ride, Great Hall and a relocated Hippogriff ride. More capacity and more immersion than what was there before.

And if Disney ever had the cheap amusement games through out their parks can you imagine the uproar on these sites.

Universal has come a long long way and have shown they can do some wonderful work but like disney they to have all kinds of problems and short cuts that hamper what could be.

Ever since Spider-Man first opened way back when, I personally feel that Disney hasn't really come up with anything as impressive tech-wise as Spider-Man...

...which brings us to Star Wars Land. While it's nice that AK is getting a 3D Soarin' ride and a Pirates of Pandora slow-moving boat ride for Avatar, it is extremely telling of how complacent Disney can really be with pushing the envelope for new, massive projects.

I personally am ready to be disappointed with Star Wars Land. I mean honestly, there's only so much they can do with Star Wars. Star Tours is an amazingly solid ride that pretty much covers all the basics: you're on a spaceship flying through all the different Star Wars worlds. BOOM. Done. Any other ride would really be redundant. Even the Jedi Training Academy does a great job of representing the other cool thing about Star Wars: the lightsaber.

What else can they really do? We're getting the Cantina. That's a given. Maybe some indoor Jedi Temple photo-op place for the characters? Yeah, sure. But as far as it goes, I can't really see them making anything that'll straight-up surprise me, unless it's a big boy rollercoaster, but that'll mess with the skyline of our lovely Disney Parks.

P.S.: Transformers allows people who only have a one-day, one-park ticket to experience some of the same thrills and fun they could experience over at Islands. They're being considerate and making sure you get your money's worth, even if you don't have that much money to spend. I would hate to be stuck with a 1-day ticket at Animal Kingdom or Hollywood Studios.

I have no issue with one day tickets to either of those parks. I guess it's just me.

Universal has come a long long way and have shown they can do some wonderful work but like disney they to have all kinds of problems and short cuts that hamper what could be.

Krustyland is a carnival/amusement park... it's supposed to look like that lol. And unlike Dinoland USA or pre-2012 Paradise Pier, it doesn't look gaudy or obnoxious. It's colorful and has a lot of charm. Is it the best thing at Universal Orlando? Far from it. But it works for The Simpsons and livened up a previously dead section of the park.

More importantly, it was a low-key addition. Universal didn't bring out the Simpsons to have a big press release. They simply built it and opened it.

Would you rather have International Food and Film Festival, along with an empty waterfront by Simpsons Ride? It increased the appeal of the back section of USF, while providing more to do in the wake of Diagon Alley.

Transformers and Springfield weren't meant to be major... they're bonus additions to help out before Diagon. They were dead space before either of them opened. They increased park capacity without really replacing any attractions (Hercules and Xena wasn't all that major...). What more can you ask for?
