News Disney to offer discount on new MagicBand designs as an optional alternative to complimentary solid color MagicBands

Demarke

Have I told you lately that I 👍 you?
Nothing says, I spent less on my Disney Resort than you did, than an All Start Resort MB!
I’m waiting on one that just says “Offsite” and features a guy smiling with lots of extra cash.

Maybe it could even say “Shuttled from Disney Springs” on the reverse! 😉

Strange that they still don’t have the full array of solid color MB2s, but glad they are at least restocking some of them.

Just back- the new +bands were nearly USELESS! They would not pair with Android. We wasted well over 2 hours at Guest Services and they still would not work. At best, one of the four would pair the way it was supposed to pair, and then next day- nope!

We were told they had to be fully charged, so on top of trying to book G+ every morning, we also wasted time trying to get ands to work, while also trying to get ready, and get to parks. UGH!

Also, having to charge them every night (we were told they had to be fully charged to work w/Android)- was a pain. Luckily our hotel had enough outlets, but then there was a mess of cords all over the nightstand/other outlet areas. In addition to our phones, we now had the band AND powerbanks to charge.

OH, we also had a TERRIBLE problem with the bands popping open (off our wrists). On prior trips, one would periodically pop off. This trip, we had to keep putting them on/taking them off to charge, but also from day 1, they started popping off. Prior bands just did not do this as much. We'd put them on at start of trip, and not worry about them until end of trip.

The statues thing only partly worked. We'd collect some, then the next day, the ones we had collected would be gone from account.

Tried a second time to ask for help, and the advice was beyond useless. We had already tried everything many times over, and still the cast member was talking to us like we were idiots. We had already done everything multiple times, and it all took a good deal of time, but they just would go beyond giving us the same dumb canned suggestions like, "Did you try turning it off and back on again?" UGH! Though to be fair, we weren't interested in spending ANOTHER two hours trying to get the dumb things to work. Maybe we got a bad batch, but no solutions ever emerged.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Definitely doesn't need to be fully charged to work with Android, but there could be issues pairing with your devices. I found that the phone settings tended to let it unpair a number of times and I had to go forcefully fix it each day even if I left it on all night and charging on the dock. Also I'd collect the items and the app didn't know because it hadn't yet updated from the watch. More pairing issues.

We brought some extra strap loops to help in case they were falling off, but only used the one for my son. My opinion is that one of these per family is enough, unless they turn out to be super cool at fireworks time. I expect they aren't. I wish they'd just find a way to make MB2 puck we can recharge so that all those old bands aren't useless over time.

Mine was paired with Android just fine with five minutes of being delivered to my house.

That's interesting because we had 4 different android devices, and the bands would not pair properly with any of them. I should clarify though, connecting them has 3 parts:

1. The band is listed in your account- YES. That was done prior to getting them.
2. Band is 'connected.' Two bands initially paired correctly, the others did not initially work. Later they all disconnected and only sometimes re-connected for a few hours when fully charged. by mid-morning they'd be disconnected again.
3. Bluetooth pairing - rarely worked.

So #1 was enough that they worked for basic functions. Otherwise, we were never able to get all the bands to fully connect. We spent two hours in guest services working one-on-one with a CM to get the problem fixed (trying every possible tech re-boot/update) and nothing worked.

At the end of the two hours, she said it was known issue with Android, and filed an incident report.

The first time we tried to connect, the phones and bands were all fully charged, and we updated everything. It didn't work.

With the CM we went over every possible update/re-boot, and nothing worked, but the CM suggested the bands might connect the next day when ALL our devices were 100% fully charged. It didn't end up working.

In the end, though the customer service was terrible. After wasting so much time, the bands still do NOT work, and all we got for all our wasted vacation time was ONE round of G+ passes - and not even ILL passes, just a basic LL that could not be used on Space Mtn or Peter Pan. Oh, that and a Fuelrod.

This was one of the troubleshooting suggestions the CM offered, not my idea. She said sometimes it helped (w/Android devices) if everything was fully charged.

Charging our bands was one of the things we attempted while we were in GS.

I would say though, GS isn't really set up as a place to charge devices though, so there was no place to charge our phones.

I did #1 manually because I purchased mine from Shop Disney, not as a pre-order attached to my resort stay.

#2 and #3 are the same thing, and the band isn't supposed to maintain an active connection at all times. This would suck the battery dry extremely quickly.

I have always been (and continue to be) under the impression that they intend to sell both models side-by-side at different price points.
The prices are about the same…

So this - in theory - would drive the accountants nuts because they are “wasting” fractions of Pennies making two different things at the factory behind Shanghai space mountain.
