"Were you using your phone for any other purposes other than WiFi that may have incurred a charge?"
:) Well maybe I was a little off...
I actually did a quick search and you may be right. It seems some phones are set to first hit the cellular network, and then switch over to the Wi-Fi network. Thinking about it, the reason the poster may be getting charged by AT&T could also be that they only experienced AT&T Wi-FI hotspots which are free at some places (like Starbucks) but are not for non-AT&T customers. Maybe the poster only ever say upcharge AT&T Wi-Fi networks?

I have one too. It is great. Not a ton of apps, but everything I need.
Oh yeah. The killer thing is that there are a ton of good apps, they just aren't the ones people know for other OSes. Once Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 hits, I think that gap will shrink even more. Windows 8 app developers will only have to make minor revisions to recompile for WP8. Should be good!

Has anyone here checked on the status of this new/upgraded app? I read elsewhere that today it was operational. My iphone is being repaired and everyone else in the household isn't available so I am unable to check. Thanks

it's available! downloading now

The new guide maps it uses are really cool. had a 3D look to them

and you actually get the wait time and fast pass times without even being in the park

I downloaded it today. It looks great. It has everything you need like maps, wait times, menus, reservations etc. Pretty much covers everything that existing third party apps do. Except its free!
Disney did a great job with this app.
I'm sure it has a lot of third party developers nervous about their sales dropping.

I like it. It's lagging a little for me, but otherwise it looks good. I'll be anxious to try it out in the parks in a few weeks.

Seems to be a bit buggy. Very rough transitions, locks up a bit, etc. Very underwhelmed, should have waited longer before releasing.

I think the issue is that it isn't iOS native, and they have gone with a web app approach, inside an native iOS container. This makes it very easy easy to port the same version of code to each different platform, but is a compromise compared to a native app for each platform.

no point in third party apps anymore.. wait times tied to the flik system are 100% better than 'submitted times'

It's actually a beta version of the app. It's not meant to be perfect yet. It's being released now so it can be used in conjunction with the FastPass+ test later this month.

From Disney:
What is a beta version?
In the field of software development, the term “beta” refers to a release of an
early version of the software outside the company for the purpose of
improving the software prior to final release.

I was wondering what the platform was to have multiple versions across the board. I am BetaTesting a few different versions of the App for the site you know I am involved with and those are MUCH smoother. It is of course iOS designed, however. I just wasn't expecting it to be AS buggy as it is. The writer of the App for the site you know about is going to download this App and give it a whirl.

Any word on the android version? Don't see it on the android play store....
only ios released right now i am sure it wont be far behind.
just tried the mde app on the wife ipad it was great.... the ui is awesome and very intuitive. no nearly as buggy as described above and it is also nice to see everything outside the park. I think soon this thing will download all your reservation information to coordinate everything. it might even give you a later fast past to not conflict with a dining reservation or something. overall 4 out of 5 starts for us. cant wait to try this in the park on the iphone

has anyone done a check to see how accurate these wait times are? I just downloaded the new app on my ipad and it says that big thunder has a 40 min wait right now (9:40 pm on a Thursday night with EMH mornings). That doesn't seem right, I would think it would be longer.

I'm calling shenanigans! It says that TSMM only has a 45 min wait! Its 9:42 and the park closes at 10, but still, that seems crazy short for the middle of summer.
