Is is just me, or is there not a site for the "Disney Store"? I went to look online for the Disney store, but keep getting directed to Disneyshopping.com which doesn't have all the stuff that the Disney Store has...Is there a seperate site for Disney Store, and if not, what's the story?

That is the site for the Disney Store. I agree though, it's not up to par.

As of right now, there is not a full website for The Disney Store (owned by Hoop Retail, a division of The Children's Place) They did recently launch a mini website (http://www.wishesgranteddaily.com). Unfortunately, about the only thing you can do on it is sign up for the mailing list (and receive a 15% off coupon in the process).

Disneyshopping.com is a seperate entity, owned by the Walt Disney Company.

I never knew that. That is very interesting. I knew that Disney did not run the Disney Store, but I did not know that the site was not of the Disney Store.

Yup, there's no affiliation between Disney Store and Disneyshopping.com (with the exception of a store locator on the Guest Services page).

The thing that bothers me the most about disneyshopping.com is that the prices fluctuate as they offer bigger discounts. Why not more stable (lower) prices, and fewer/no discounts. I understand the gimmick, but it bothers me, and it's the same reason I won't shop at stores like Kohls.

So do DS CMs get any perks at the parks?

I was just wondering...then since the Disney Store is not owned & operated by Disney, do the CMs (I'm assuming that's what they're called) get any perks at the Disney Parks or facilities...It just seems like a strange situation...You sell and promote Disney merchandise and vacations (the vacation planning dvd was running constantly at the DS store), but aren't "really" Disney...

Things that make you go hmmm....

Where is this store locator you speak of? I was looking for one before and never found it.
Go to Guest Services at the bottom of the Disneyshopping.com homepage. The Guest Services page and a Guest Services pop-up window will appear (why two windows with the same info? Grrrrrrrr.). Choose "Disney Store Locator" in either window.

As a recent Disney Store Cast Member (yup, still Cast Member), hourly TDS CM's get 3 one-day park hopper passes per year. Salaried managers get a special maingate pass for unlimited admissions for themselves and 3 others each year. There are no other park priviledges or discounts for TDS CM's.

I agree that Disney Shopping.com does not have the selection that the Disney Store used to have, but their customer service is great!
We recently placed an on-line order & everything was received, but one of the t-shirts that we ordered was the wrong color.
We called them to explain & they told us that it was no problem.
They sent us the t-shirt in correct color & told us to keep the one that they sent in error.

I totally agree w/ that!
We placed an order not too long ago & the next day, 2 of the items that we purchased had gone down in price.
But, on the other hand, 6 of the items that we had purchased went up in price, so I guess we still got the better deal.
Anyway, we called to ask them about the price fluctuation & they wound up giving us the lower price on the items once they were shipped.
I guess if you are nice to them, they will be nice to you.

I did not know that their prices changed....very interesting. I don't check out disneyshopping.com very often.

I do however work at the Disney Store Outlet and we get some AMAZING deals in there....like right now those christmas sweaters from last year that had either mickey or minnie or them, they are 99 CENTS! It's amazing!

Part of the agreement was that TWDC would operate DISNEYSHOPPING.COM untill 2007(this year sometime).
At that point Disney Store will have their own web site totally seperate from Disneyshopping.com.

So the skinny is

Disneystore.com will be owned and ran by Childrens Place.

Disneyshopping.com will be the online version of the old Disney Catalog and will have nothing to do with Disney store like the Store locator etc.

European Disneystores.com are still owned and operated byTWDC so they will continue to do biz as usual.(U.K,France,Spain,Italy,Germany,and Belguim.)
The Disney Stores Japan now owned/operated by OLC(company that runs Tokyo DL)

Disney Store Hong Kong and Shanghi(sp?) stores are still owned by TWDC just not under Consumer Products. They changed management to be run by Hong Kong Disneyland-Attractions Merchandise.

We live by a "Castle Store" which I use to work at and I personally think the merchandise is a lot better than online and you get more of a selection, but again it depends on what you like and looking for...Costumes alone look better at the store compared to online..They do have sales and on top of the sale you can also use a coupon..Sometimes on their clearance they would have a special to take additional 50% off clearance price, but again it's a hit or miss catching that sale when you go shopping..Also I've heard rumors from CM's that I use to work with have heard "Disney" is thinking about buying the stores back, but again it's a rumor and that may not happen..

I went on the wishesgranteddaily site and while i was trying to register in the birthday section I put 1990 for the year I was born but when I click submit at the bottom, a thing pops up that says "You have entered a year in the future. Please type in a correct date" I have tried a million times to fix it.

Any ideas?

I went to the Disney Store yesterday (to get a Disney fix) and they have a new line of Tiki Mickey and Minnie stuff. Very cute. I'm sure they'll have it in the new catalogue.
