Disney stock...

I'm not sure if this is the best place to put this, but...

I don't know how reliable @WDW Pro is, but (s)he produced an article (which was put up on Clownfish TV) which stated that Disney is running out of money, which explains why they had stopped work on the Tron and Guardians coasters.
WDW Pro and Clownfish are clickbait for Disney purists who opposed Iger's IP buying spree and want to bring Disney back to the "glory days" (as in, the leftist-targeting, fascist-supporting, union-suppressing days; reminder that Walt's politics were no different from that of Rupert Murdoch's).

But why then would they stop work on the Tron and Guardians coasters? At this point, the only thing about the 50th that's worth celebrating is the fact that WDW is still around at all.

While Disney isn't "running out of money" they aren't making profits, either.

Why open big E Ticket attractions when the attendance is restricted? Reservations for MK on it's 50th Anniversary are already full. Last thing MK needs is for the MK to hit a post-COVID Phase I closing like it was Christmas day because they just opened TRON on top of all the 50th Anniversary draws.

Insiders have said that the big guns are in reserve for when all the COVID protocols are gone and they can press the NEW E TICKETS button to immediately fill up the parks to the pre-COVID levels.

Only if the demand quickly comes back after the rules are relaxed. International, business travel and youth events won't be coming back for years, if at all.

WDW was regularly hitting their 35% (or is it 40%?!!) capacity all holiday. Remember, a reservation system was needed to hold back the crowds even though it is insanely dangerous to be in crowds during a pandemic.

RotR/MMRR is still hot in DHS. And Ratatouille and GotG will draw crowds to EPCOT. MK doesn't need help filling up, but it will have the 50th celebrations and TRON. These parks will undoubtedly be hitting record numbers at the end of 2021 and for all of 2022.

Poor DAK, though. It lost RoL (which a rumor says *might* come back) and a dumb flat ride (Primeval Whirl). And may have lost Nemo the Musical. It went back to being a "half-day park."

The only way COVID protocols were gone is if the virus itself is completely gone. But it will never be completely gone. It will be here with us for all time, and we must learn to live with it. I don't think the protocols will go away completely.

Your fears are unfounded. As time goes on things will go back to normal. Wearing a mask (actually smart during flu season) and other protocols will not be here long term. I suspect at this point based on current data won't last beyond fall/winter this year. As with any other viruses that we deal with we find ways to combat it. This too is happening with COVID, we have treatments and now vaccines.

So whether COVID is a yearly thing, or if its a one time thing like measles, we will get through this and return to a sense of normality soon.

But lets get this thread back on track and not turn this into another COVID thread.

Running out of money, yes. Broke, no. But most of their safe money is going into Disney+.

Walt Disney supported fascism, eh?

You make it seem as though Disney parks in particular have no future at all. That sounds extreme and like clickbait, don't you think? And is it true that you are against Iger?
I have no horse in this race, but, objectively it looks more like you're saying they're saying that than it does that they're actually saying that.

The “glory days” as in the “creatively rich” days.

I’m not sure why we constantly return to this ad hominem argument regarding Walt Disney every single time someone criticizes the way that the current company is run.

The unions that targeted them in the 40s weren’t all Sunshine and rainbows. They were rather exploitative to both the workers and the company. I don’t think Walt handled the situation the best, but few people in his position would have.

So it begs the question. If you despise Old Uncle Walt that much, why are you even on a Disney forum?

Excuse me?
WDWPro: "Disney's losing money, at the moment spending is being directed to Disney+"

^Objectively true, understandable given the necessary changes to their operation.

You: "So you're saying Disney Parks have no future at all"

^Not what they said, a conclusion you drew, and sounds more like an effort to editorialize their non-clickbait statement into clickbait. Which makes your accusation of having an agenda look a bit like you're projecting.

Not if they want to preserve the strength of their profitable businesses that actually feed streaming the content. The last thing we want is for Disney to follow AT&T's path and sacrifice their entire studio slate to the streaming gods, resulting in thousands of layoffs due to lost profits and potentially a forced sale of the studio entirely to please investors (HBO Max is a separate operating unit from WB, meaning the latter is making almost nothing from the HBO Max deal). That's not even getting into all the talent and executives who might exit and the labor unions that may boycott.

Slpy3270 is one of those idiots who like to go on Disney fan sites and bash the Disney company's creator out of a wealth of ignorance and arrogance.

So...is Wall Street reddit trying to bankrupt Disney? Because there's no justification for the stock to go down this fast (and it makes me question if it can avoid retesting the pandemic lows).

Looks like to me a correction of over-exuberance that came from the Investor Day data dump.

That DIS regained everything from the pandemic-crash is astounding. Going way past that was speculators' spiral. "It's going up, I better buy!"

And then: "Oh, it stopped going up and started to decline... I better sell!"

These aren't investors moving the needle, but speculators.
