I originally said wealthy people are the most cheap. That means they want to save the same if not more money than anybody else. I NEVER said they dont spend their money. You entire viewpoint agrees with my original statement. I fail to see how you are not making that connection. Just because you refer to being cheap as "getting a deal" doesnt change anything.

But I get it, the bottom line is you like DS. Thats cool. Have fun there. I never said you or anybody cant or should not. But dont get butt hurt and feel some type of desire to defend it and put words in my mouth.

Have you met @Siren? She enjoys name dropping too. But Let me just ask, do you make over 500K a year? If not, you can drop all the high end and low end brand names all you want and it doesn't matter. I know many women who own Chanel, YSL, Louis, Gucci, Prada Wal Mart Home Depot whatever..and they are not wealthy by any means. Sure, they make over 150K a year, but still, thats not wealthy. And if you think it is, let me assure you that TWDC does not agree.

*News flash* The current mgmt at TWDC does NOT care about you, or me for that matter. That doesn't mean we abandon them. Things will change, one day. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.

The problem of course is Disney DESIRES the 7 figure earner, yet their level of service and amenities is FAR below what those in that economic strata expect. To compete in that space Disney needs things like REAL Concierge's (the ones who get you tix to sold out events etc) 24 hour room service, Name brand in room toiletries, Town car service to the parks/MCO etc

They will not attract those people with the current model of Motel 6 amenities at Waldorf-Astoria pricing.

There's actually a LUSH store at both The Florida Mall and the Mall at Millenia. I've heard they'll be making the jump to Anaheim's Downtown Disney at some point, they're one of the last stores left at the derelict Gardenwalk and their lease is coming up at the end of the year.
That must have happened in the last year or so because they didn't exist the last time I checked.

If you don't abandon them they will think that what they are pumping out is what you want.

I must admit I fail to see the point of DS, maybe it's just not for me.

I went for the first time 2 years ago, had a great time at Raglan, then had a walk around and had pretty well no interest in any of the shops. It was just a big upper-end mall.

When I returned last year I skipped it entirely. If I wanted a fun restaurant there's plenty to choose from in the area or the hotels. If I wanted to shop for pricey things, I'd go to the outlets.

I must be in the wrong demographic.

I am on the other side of the coin, I actually planned aspects of my vacation around Disney Springs and spent more time there then I have on past trips.

I don't even know if you know what your talking about anymore.

This entire thread has been about shopping and how the shops at DS aren't doing well, and people like you saying either A. People who go to Disney can't afford to shop at there. Or B. People won't want to shop at them. Or C. A combo of A&B.

As I've already said, I am not wealthy.
My point was- some things I spend money on- some I do not. For me personally I love handbags, sunglasses, and shoes. I'm never going to be the girl who has a closet full of any of them..I choose quality over quantity bc I can't afford both. On a vacation I may give myself the excuse to splurge on a new bag that wasn't in the plans. I know that I am not the only woman who thinks like that.

If you think that Disney Springs is top designer prices then you are flat out wrong. People CAN afford what is there..Disney knows this. Regardless of what you or others say-the majority of vacationers can absolutely afford an item from any of these stores.

I am so sick of the class warfare tone that so many take here. Just give it a rest. Each one of us should be happy with what we have- it doesn't mean someone should be criticized for their choices or so many of the passive aggressive comments that are posted. I don't live life worrying if someone has more than me..I definitely don't obsess over the things that Disney offers that I can't afford- and there's plenty on that list. I also don't worry about what they offer that doesn't interest me.
I just live my life. Try it.

Same here - I never cared about including DTD in a trip itinerary but DS is now a must do.

Do you go for the restaurants, to shop or both?
The atmosphere is now a big part of it. They changed everything IMO by adding the springs and emphasizing water views music etc. at restaurants and bars. Food options are great and my daughter loves shopping at theTown Center which is not bad to walk around either. I hope the next set of theme park additions at WDW turn out this well

My understanding is that many of the new high end stores were to intice international visitors to stay onsite and shop not head to the outlet malls. I talked to the CM at the sunglass hut at MK and asked do you really sell that many high end sunglasses to have a store in the mliddle of the MK and she told me it was amazing how many international visotrs buy there. Where it is price, exchange rate or availability who knows but I'm sure those sales have changed with the decreased visitors from Latin America and now with BREXIT who knows what that will do.
To be honest, there's not a real serious mark-up on the high end sunglasses at the places in the theme parks. My husband has bought his last 3 pairs of Maui Jim sunglasses at theme parks (MK & Universal) and they were no more expensive than buying them locally in Gainesville, FL or from Amazon. When he needs a new pair, he does exhaustive internet searches, but always seems to buy in person after being able to try the glasses on. Prices have always been pretty much the same, even in a theme park. Same goes for buying Tommy Bahama stuff.

I have never gotten the impression that Disney accommodations are anything more than 3 star hotels with a great location.

What a perfect explanation of Disney's "deluxe" hotels.

What really annoys me is when the hotel CM's, most memorably for me personally at the Grand Californian and Grand Floridian, act all snotty and cool and think they are providing "world class" service because their cheesy assistant manager told them so and their lobby is 75 feet tall. These CM's are too-often clueless and poorly trained and held to mediocre standards. The service at these hotels is like a Marriott Courtyard on a good day, nothing more. But look how tall the lobby is!

As for Disney Springs doing poorly, I said this earlier In another thread but this January will be telling to see who closes. They'll all get through Christmas, and then regroup.
