'Disney Springs' - Downtown Disney expansion officially announced

Had a chance to digest this. And it is interesting that we really do not have specific details especially about the changes for the marketplace or West Side. And the model does little to help. But I think the areas around PI are somewhat finalized and well thought out.

I still think I might be close to the direction they are going. Can't wait to find out more over the next few months and at D23.

He had little to do with the Disney Springs development so I am sure most in this situation would not want to be seen grabbing someone else's spotlight.

Much ado about nothing.

Oh really.......you think Meg had much input in this do ya'. Since when do you have to have a hands on to be in a photo op? He should be in on anything that goes on at WDW...he is the numero uno. How much input to you think Iger has on most projects? jt....jt....jt.
I love you man......but I do prefer your jimmy thick persona much better.

Ask Steve or any mod if I am any other persona other than this one. Others may do that (and they are not as clever about it as they may think) but I do not.

I think everyone seen at the presentation was involved including Meg. Meg might have even been a driving force in sending HW back to the drawing board.

Iger is more involved than he takes credit for including on Carsland. It would be bad taste to always claim the spotlight though.

How about going out on a limb and tell us your projections rather than come back later and say "I told you I was right"....Let's have some proof for you to reference when it all gets built so you can truly gloat over us once and for all.

My dear friend, Iger has no inclination to have anything to do with the parks. He clearly has shown quite the opposite. I am not going to debate this with you. We both know what your stance is on WDW. You have NEVER shown that you are objective when it comes to WDW.

I have written about it in detail in this thread. Boiled down, I believe the concept of water will be the unifying theme but that areas within the complex may have very different aesthetics. The Daily Disney has quotes that also seem to hint at this. It is fun to speculate.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. I know for certain this is not true. He just does not have an ego that craves the spotlight. He is fine in interviews but you can tell he would rather be anywhere but in the spot light.

I also think he wanted to change course from the previous CEO. Not a criticism of Eisner. I enjoy hearing him speak and thought he did a good job on WWoD back in the day. I just think Iger wanted to distance himself from being front and center for most events.

OK...that's fairly generic.

Here are my predictions:

  • There will be concrete walkway and bridges tying together the separate areas.
  • There will be several styles of architecture among the buildings but all with a unifying theme.
  • Disney will only operate one new retail outlet and one new food venue.

I was rather more specific but you may have missed that. And people were getting increasingly agitated by my speculations so I backed off. Usually happens when I get too close to the truth.

There is no truth to get close to yet.

Nobody on this board would care if you let the cat out of the bag...if you actually had the bag to begin with.

I think you might be wrong about this. The process may be further along than they announced. The former PI will just be getting the most attention at first because that will have the least impact on operations but it appears this is all past blue-sky. Staggs said they entire complex will be getting work but they only emphasized former PI and immediate vicinity in the presentation.

They are not building two massive parking garages and working with the state to connect to I-4 on a whim. This is very far along the development process. Martin and Steve have been hinting at this for years.

Then who was getting upset with your predictions?

I disagree. If it's not odd that the WDW prez wasn't involved in an announcement but the Chairman of Parks and Resorts was, I don't know what is. Add that on top of the fact that George has been basically MIA since his arrival in O-town and there is definitely a reason he hasn't been trotted out yet. What that reason is, I'm not exactly sure....

Perhaps he is busy working on spirited changes.
