Disney Springs construction begins

I'm sticking to my Marvel-ous prediction even if I was wrong on the timing.

And I would like to add to my list above that I never claimed DTD/DS was having trouble attracting tenents. So that is about nine things where I have been critisized for going against conventional wisdom around here but have been proven right. I hear others are posting threads containing a combination of nine retractions/corrections/edits etc.

Amazing new announcements leaking out about Disney Springs today. Including the news that the garage will open for the holiday rush. Conventional wisdom was wrong again.

I am predicting Disney will build a new E-Ticket at WDW beyond what is going into Avatar. Please remember to congratulate me for predicting this when it eventually happens, even if it's 20 years from now.

Where is your list of nine things you were "proven" right about? DHS additions and time frame (no proof), Avatar went smoothly (no proof and goes against conventional wisdom), Disney Springs having trouble attracting tenants (handful announced out the 150 that will eventually be there, where is the proof). I know if your mind you feel you are correct, but that doesn't make it so.

How was "conventional wisdom" wrong about the garage? Looking back at the garage thread people have been saying it will be open by the holidays as far back as February. Appears to be progressing as most expected, open for the Holidays and complete in early 2015.

So in conclusion, blind squirrel, nut and all that. :)

Wow. It looks really nice. I can't believe how fast this is moving. (Especially in comparison with the Hub, which feels like an eternity).

I would agree with you. FYI for anyone interested, I haven't taken photos of the Magic Kingdom Hub work because nothing is new to show there that hasn't already been posted. It does appear there is some underground utility work being done on the left side, which may be part of the "slowness." I can only speculate that Disney is trying to "get it right."

that and if it is not done right the entirety of the soil being added to the hub 'island' could slide right down into the 'moat'. it is tons easier and faster to remove soil in a construction zone, than adding it.

That's BabyCakes NYC, or at least their new concept. It's going into that weird plot of grass that's currently next to Raglan Road - I wonder if it's going to be a real building or something they pre-fab and drop in like Wetzels. I suspect the wall configuration is what has prevented construction up until this point.

Photo from yesterday afternoon, 10/31. I'm sitting at the light on Buena Vista Dr, turning left into the Cirque parking lot. That is (was) the entrance to Typhoon Lagoon. Now, completely torn up. Fast work!

Since they are calling the location 2B, I am guessing just a cart or kiosk of some sort.

Are they tearing this up in preparation for the I-4 ramp?

I assume they are trying to get this done before TL re-opens in January.

no. They tore it up because the road expansion required that the entrance be pushed back nearly 100ft.
Pushed back as in now it will be 100ft shorter or pushed back as in moving 100 feet along the road from its previous location?

If they are making it 100ft shorter thats a bit of a let down, I loved the entrance to typhoon, did a great job of transporting you away from the hustle and bustle (which was then promptly ruined by the Team Disney building). It did a good job of telling the story, isolating the park, and was quite beautiful, it really made it feel like typhoon was a tropical place.

Shorter. Why would they relocate it left or right? It's part of a Signaled intersection.

Also shaving 100ft off wouldn't completely ruin the entrance or isolation of the park. You are simply grasping at straws to find something to complain about. Let them finish the project before you Complain about it.

I know it won't ruin it, unless they cut out all of the foliage. What I should've done a better job of explaining is how nice I think the entrance is, and is something thats overlooked.
