Disney Springs construction begins

...Are we legitimately discussing a fictional store that would sell nothing but bottled water? o_O

It's clearly just a part of the theme. A store that sells just bottled water makes ZERO sense. That being said, it's Disney, so I wouldn't be surprised if some random crap like that showed up in some of the already existing gift shops. :hilarious:

This is the same person who was driving a multi-page discussion about whether Pandora was a moon or a planet.

listen, i understand the concept of a Spring and spring water distilled and bottled. but the masses will look at any standing water, and say, UGH, we are drinking that? might not be the best marketing move.

Again it is "clear" ;) you have not studied the concept artwork.

And the same poster who suggested Disney would be using robots to build future parking garages.

China is perfecting the tech of automated construction even as we speak type. So it won't be long before we are buying the machines from them. I mean, this is an easy prediction. You probably won't notice it when it happens as it is likely most will be lost in their virtual Oculus Rift realities. But it will happen.

Consider the poster. ;)

You mean the poster that carefully explained for years that WDW would see major investment happening as part of the normal business cycle of P&R? The one who laughed at the irrational exhberance of uni fanboys and other insiders that claimed WDW was on the decline and the wizard was going to eat the mouses lunch? The one who tried to convince others that Uni was under the same business pressures as TWDC to appease investors but that Uni does not have the same caliber of leadership as TWDC?

The one who said that DHS would see investment and attractions opening long before the rumored 5 years from now ?

The one who said Pandora was not gridlocked in development and would happen?

The one who never said FC was canceled?

The one who said HW/DS would be more than a "fancy strip mall"?

Yeah, cause that was said, and more, without any insider connections. Unless you count those connections in my logic circuits.

It could be argued that the investment isn't just part of a cycle but because they now legitimately feel threatened by Uni.

Hasn't happened yet, and if it does (which I am not really doubting at this point) we still don't know the time frame.

The one who said Pandora was not gridlocked in development and would happen?

All evidence points to you being wrong about the gridlock part, and not one with any credibility ever said it wouldn't happen.

The one who never said FC was canceled?

Maybe not canceled, but it's definitely limping along. Looks like the third part developers are driving it not Disney.

The one who said HW/DS would be more than a "fancy strip mall"?

Some people still consider it a fancy strip mall.

Yeah, cause that was said, and more, without any insider connections. Unless you count those connections in my logic circuits.

You also predicted Disney would get the Marvel rights back from Uni very shortly after it was acquired, how's that working out for you?

Bottom line is I would rather trust the people who have been proven to actually have access to inside information, then to someone who is just guessing and sometimes gets lucky and is right.

If you make enough predictions, odds are good that one will come true.

I'm sticking to my Marvel-ous prediction even if I was wrong on the timing.

And I would like to add to my list above that I never claimed DTD/DS was having trouble attracting tenents. So that is about nine things where I have been critisized for going against conventional wisdom around here but have been proven right. I hear others are posting threads containing a combination of nine retractions/corrections/edits etc.

Amazing new announcements leaking out about Disney Springs today. Including the news that the garage will open for the holiday rush. Conventional wisdom was wrong again.

Photo update as of Thursday, Oct 30. IMPORTANT Notice: part of Disney Springs will open up with a new walkway VERY SOON. See photos below. Installed this week are two ramps between Raglan Road and the old Mannequins that will lead to the elevated area behind Raglan Road. This will allow passage behind and around Raglan Road and around to the passage next to Portobello's. There will be construction walls separating The Hangar and The Boathouse from this new passage.

Here is where the ramps will lead behind Raglan Road:

The buildings along this new passage, as well as the small amphitheater, appear to be ready for guests. The construction walls on the left are surrounding The Hangar. The cloth-covered chain-link fence in the foreground will probably be removed.

The new passage will take guests to this narrow street between Portobello's (on the right) and new storefronts now covered by this construction curtain and walled off. This picture was taken from the courtyard in front of Portobello's and Fulton's Crab House. The Boathouse is in the background.

Additional photo update as of Thursday, Oct 30. Various projects.

Wood pilings are being driven along the water front across from the Co-Op. Probably the beginnings of a structure to hide the existing concrete wall and exposed conduits.

IMG_3487.JPG

Architectural details installed on the store fronts across from Paradiso 37. Note the glass and door installed for one store. The green plywood on other store fronts are temporary until the glass is installed.

An open door provides a peak into the details of the structure. Paradiso 37 is on the right.

Finally, below the store fronts of the first photo is this structure. Raglan Road's roof is in the background on the left.
