This thread is for updates to actual construction of Disney Springs. If you are looking for information about the announcement, or want to discuss the concept, see the thread - 'Disney Springs' - Downtown Disney expansion officially announced

Also see the Disney Springs FAQ at http://www.wdwmagic.com/attractions/disney-springs.htm
do you know if disney quest is still going to be there when they replace downtown disney with disney springs as i love cyberspace mountain

I was down in mid-June and Downtown Disney was just..... construction walls galore on the West Side. Don't get me wrong, it was still nice and I enjoyed myself, but it was just not what I was used to. I've heard it's going to make Saratoga Springs more popular. Does anyone know anything more about the expansion and Saratoga Springs?

if they do change it there was some talk a while back of converting it to an ESPN place sort of like a dave & busters. Unfortunately that's really all I know about the idea.
The long running rumor is that Disney Quest would become an ESPN Zone but all of the ESPN Zones, except the one at Downtown Disney Anaheim, have since closed making that strategy seem rather unlikely.

They built a bridge to directly connect SSR to the far end of the marketplace. I think it's just about done. You can now safely walk from SSR to Disney Springs without having to deal with walking in or near the busy road there. They are still going to have boat service as well.

Doubling the number of stores and restaurants can't hurt SSR. If nothing else you will have twice as many dining options within a short and pleasant walk or boat ride.

It would be odd--and that rumor pre-dates PI closing--but there's certainly a market. I think the NBA playoffs brought more people to Splitsville than bowling ever did.

Thanks for telling me! I'll definitely have to stay there on DVC sometime!

They had to open an EPCOT pavilion for soccer when the World Cup was on. That's only once every 4 years, but there's NFL Sundays and the playoffs in all 4 sports. Plenty of opportunities to have huge crowds. They could easily build a good sports bar as part of Disney Springs without even touching DisneyQuest. It should be a no brainer.

The ESPN Zone always seem like one of those somewhat lazy ideas since they also had a big arcade component and DisneyQuest is an arcade.
