Disney Springs construction begins

I was under the impression that the 'jazz' loop was because of the Festival of the Masters art show running this weekend. Otherwise, I presume that we'd be deep into a holiday loop by now (Ghirardelli had Christmas music playing when we stopped in for shake this afternoon).
It was probably The Festival of the Masters. I couldn't hear anything with Christmas in it. Sorry for misinterpreting the music.

Steve! Thank you for the info! I can't wait to see Disney Springs!
Don't get too excited...it will look alot like any lifestyle shopping center in the country...unless all of the sudden they decide to pull out all of the stops and do something amazing the plan looks very...usual and expected....uninspired.

This is more byproduct of construction than construction itself, but not sure it deserves its own thread. Mods, if you disagree, feel free to move the post.

Last night (Friday), decided to hit up Spilttsville with a couple friends. Realizing parking is a mess, decided to valet (wouldn't even have attempted to go without valet). Took three cycles to turn left at entrance 4. Each cycle, a couple cars would enter the intersection and block at least one lane, sometimes two--usually WDW buses. I can only imagine the ripple effect this was having on Hotel Plaza Blvd. and even 535.

Once on "entrance 4 road"--which is supposed to be valet only--majority of cars turned any way they could to get to free parking. A security guard even stopped us to confirm we wanted valet. Said yes, she waves us on. Some 50-75 yards back, before making the turn left, we stop. And wait. No movement, no explanation from security, no attempt to clear the jam. After 15 minutes at a dead stop, I made my buddy move some cones, and after waiting another 5 for traffic to clear, we drove off, eventually making it back to the main road. As we passed valet, literally a couple dozen cars line up, "trapped," not moving but unable to get out of the lane.

Yeah, it was a Friday night, but not really in the holiday season yet. Next Friday will be worse, Christmas weeks ...:banghead::arghh::hungover: DTD needs to get a handle on this parking situation ASAP.

So I have family down from up north and they wanted to eat at DTD both Fri. & Sat. Fri. Night the parking situation was insane. Sat. I ended up so mad I couldn't make words. I will not be going back to DTD until they figure this **** out. It was BEYOND unacceptable. This is the kind of mess that arrogant incompetents make when they are too busy counting their bonuses. I can't believe people get paid millions to produce a mind booglingly unacceptable guest experience. I really can't put into words how miserable every aspect of DTD was last night. With a third of the place shuttered. And a third of the parking behind construction walls. After looking for parking for an hour and fifteen mins. (I gave up and decided to go to TDO and walk after 15 mins driving around behind Cirque. But they had let so many people into a full lot that it was gridlocked. It took me 45 mins just to get out of the lot so that I could go over to TDO). And here is the best part. They are screwed! There is simply no way in the foreseeable future to fix the absolute cluster **** these idiots have created. They need to do a Transformers on that garage and pony up the bucks for 24/7 construction crews.
And it's not just parking. After you get into DTD you are literally shoulder to shoulder moving at a snails pace. So much of the place is shuttered and behind construction walls that there is no possible way to handle the crowds. They are so screwed it's hilarious.
