Disney Springs construction begins

How long does it take to build a parking garage?
It depends. They were building one not far from work and got about 3/4 done....I knew something didn't look right.

Next thing you know they are dismantling the complete structure.

Somebody got the numbers of the beams mixed up and there was no way to get from floor to floor of the parking deck.

So it took them twice as long as long as it should have to build the structure.

To this day I have never parked there!

Can't say much about what they said on the tour, but I am looking forward to the completion. They model was also very cool, a mixture of a few technologies.

I think I'm still missing a visual of the west parking lot.

I think your east and west are messed up.
This seems pretty accurate ...

Lots C,D = East Garage
Lots E,F G = The Towne Center
Lot H = Bus Stops
Lots I,J,K = West Garage

Can anyone confirm?

pics or it didn't happen

Someone actually did ask, no pics were allowed.

They talked about the story of the Springs and how the different neighborhoods grew around it and the different visual styles.

The model itself was very cool. It was 3d printed and then used projection mapping to show the springs during both the daytime and night.

It was basically an expanded talk like this video

Hahaha, yes I did mix up east and west. Oops. So, I can see C and D from the model, but I just don't recognize TRex in the pics. I like the video. It shows the new pedestrian bridge from the soon-to-be-former-captain-jacks to the springs area.

You may be right with your first assumption on T-Rex but its hard to tell.

And IMO that bridge is just about the best part of the construction. The congestion around World of Disney is unbearable sometimes and that will help a lot.

Is the bridge going to have a high spot for the boat rentals to scoot under? Or will those be relocated?

Based on the model yesterday, it appeared to have a new dock that extends out into the lake from the new bridge near the empress lilly.

T Rex is till there, it is the building on the right side of the pic about a page ago asking about it. From the tour, they seem to be changing the side and back to match the theme of the buildings around it.

I know it's not a reliable site, but Wiki is showing a Build-A-Bear (not the one in T-Rex) opening in the Marketplace next year. Anybody heard about this?

A five story garage in the size shown on that plan will probably take about ten months. Complex cladding could make it take up to 18 months.

I sure hope that they have 'complex cladding'. It will be a challenge to keep a 5 story garage from being an eye sore. Maybe they can incoproprate some sort of a tie in to the abandoned elevated railway ?

I have not heard anything on that. As they are typically found in many malls, my thought would be no. Disney Springs is looking for some more unique offerings.
