Yeah that one is basically a smoke detector design... battery powered alarm :) . Tho I'd wager they'd not want the audible alarm version ;)
Don't worry, the battery will have already been long dead. 99% of the time it's the visual indication that there is an alarm that prevents people from touching stuff they shouldn't be touching. Or simply put the kit behind glass, which needs to be broken to access it.

I have two sets of tools and it's annoying. It's not late model stuff, the US manufacturers still use SAE and the foreign ones metric.

I know how metric we are, why not go all the way?

You should start the go-fund-me account to update every mile marker and exit sign in our national highway system.

Post a link when you've got it up and running and I'll pitch in a buck. ;)

Glad we're talking about solutions now instead of going after the poor guests stuck up there peeing into plastic bags in front of total strangers. They have every right to be upset. Still interested, how is Disney going to convince people it's safe to ride? Any p.r. People out there with ideas? I'm curious. I love the idea of when you open the emergency box an alarm goes off or a light goes on. Just make sure people know it or they'll have hundreds of false alarms. That would be annoying. What if people do it anyway? A threat to ban guest?

Not to mention replacing all the spedometer dials in US cars...some only show MPH

"Excuse me sir, are you aware of how many kilometers per hour you were going back there?"

Never underestimate the population's lack of long-term memory. Disney will keep their mouth shut, implement whatever fixes are needed and file any necessary reports with the regulators, and the vast majority of guests who weren't actually on the Skyliner at the time will have forgotten all about this incident by a few months from now.

Buses have little hammers next to emergency windows, but generally people don't smash the window. I think if they make clear that the kit is for emergencies only then people won't open it.

I saw the kit when riding the Skyliner last week, and from what I remember it was a small black plastic briefcase stuck below one of the two benches, but it wasn't marked in any way. Usually at Disney when you're going through a queue and there are themed items laying around they are glued stuck, but people (me included) still touch and try to pick them up. I think that they should put a larger red box in each cabin with a clear label saying that it is for emergencies, and maybe some text about tampering is against the law. Labeling it also helps for the people that were stuck and didn't know about the kit.

And some clear instructions for when/how to use the call-boxes.

After the 2 year old guest got killed by the alligator at the Grand Floridian a few years ago in front of his parents, alligator and snake warning signs then got posted all over anywhere there is a body of water in WDW , a memorial to honor him got built at the resort, Alcatraz walls got installed so the gators can't climb over them around the Grand Floridian, and pretty much now business as usual.
