Question, the hidden park behind the Liberty Square Christmas Shop..was that a place that people could smoke? I think I remember passing by this spot and people were doing this.

In DHS, while facing the entrance of IJSS, look to the left. There's a display of Indiana Jones props. There's a rope that says "do not pull". Pull the rope and listen.

The Fu Dogs (thats what they are, Fu Dogs) are also in China in EPCOT and have the same configuration. The Male dog has his paw on a ball and the female on a cub.

It's not really a Disney thing, but a Chinese thing. That's how all Fu Dogs are represented.

The male should be on the right and the female on the left when you are looking at them. I don't know off the top of my head if thats how the ones at the GMR are.

-dave

Almost right. They are actually lions. Chinese guardian lions, to be exact! Fu dogs are named after the lions because they look like them. GMR's are in the right configuration, with the female on the left and the male on the right. I've also heard that the "ball" under the male's paw represents the world, and that he controls the world (hey, just sayin' what I heard!) but when I went and did some digging, it turns out that the ball represents the flower of life! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_guardian_lions Tadaa! I have oceans more GMR stuff, but I wouldn't know where to start!

Oh, and unfortunately, telling the CMs at GMR which is the male and which is the female... won't get you bumped to the top of the line! Sorry!

I know this is alot but it's everything I've got. I cobbled it together for a coworker who had never been to Disney (some of it may now be wrong but enjoy. I'll have to split it into several posts.

When you check in to the hotel, tell them it’s your first visit – you’ll get buttons (wear them) and maybe special treatment in the parks (depends on the cast member).

Check schedule to see which day fireworks and parades are as they aren’t always nightly!

Check Extra Magic Hours for the parks – they open early or stay open late on certain days if you are staying at a resort

Watch fireworks from right at the end of the buildings on Main St. right in front of the castle (if you are in Fantasyland, you’ll think you are under an artillery shelling as they launch from there!)

Watch the Spectromagic parade in Frontierland at night as it ends its route there and thusly there are no people around. After this the park empties out significantly (do NOT attempt to leave at this point but rather walk onto most every single ride). Micki and I have done the entire MK before from 6 pm until 11pm on July 4th weekend.

Fast Pass Rides (noted on park map). Grab one of these first when you enter a park. Approximately an hour or so later you can get another for any fastpass ride so do that as soon as you can. Keep this up all day. It may take some walking back and forth but will maximize your riding.

Ride short lines in between fast pass times. If you go to use a FP and the line is short don’t waste it if you have the time to spare and use it later (they expire).

Lines that are usually short (10 mins. Or less): Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carribean, It’s a Small World, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Snow White, Country Bear Jamboree, Tom Sawyer Island, Tiki Room, Carousel of Progress.

Long Lines that I’d get in right away if I noticed they were short: Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Splash Mountain.

** L Closed: Space Mountain, Hall of Presidents, Tomorrowland Transit Authority**

*Climb to the top of the Swiss Family Tree House at night for a great view of the park.

Eats: In MK, I’d eat at Liberty Tree Tavern for a family style American meal (all you can eat, ham, beef, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese (Micki loves the Mac and Cheese), etc.) For a quick meal (in quiet) Columbia Harbor House has fish and chicken and eat upstairs (people don’t seem to know there is an upstairs). Pinocchio’s is a huge a fun restaurant in Fantasyland – burgers and stuff.

HINTS AND TIPS:

Magic Kingdom

Liberty Square:
  • In Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, there is a small tree called the Magical Moments Tree. Every day, one person is chosen to decorate the tree. That person gets a magical moments certificate and a free Christmas ornament. Typically the person chosen is picked early in the day, and is usually a child, but it can happen at any time to a person of any age.
  • When riding the Liberty Boat, sometimes a person is chosen to ride with the captain. That person gets a copilots license, similar to riding with the monorail conductor.
  • The Haunted Mansion: If you look closely at the building, supposedly all the towers are designed after chess pieces. All accept the knight, who is inside the ride.
  • The Haunted Mansion: There is a special photopass that is taken rarely in front of the Haunted Mansion. It is typically taken very early in the morning, or at Halloween time. If you see a photo crew by the hearse, get in line. You will get a very cool photo pass picture with a superimposed ghost crew.
  • The Haunted Mansion: At night time, look to the top story to see a ghost walking by the window holding a lantern.
  • The Haunted Mansion: In the graveyard scene, one of the last scenes on the ride, you will find a great hidden mickey. At the end of the room, when the cart begins to turn, look over the right hand side and you’ll see a grim reaper. Look closely at his raised hand, he is holding a hidden ghostly Mickey.
  • Haunted Mansion: In the wire fencing around the mansion there are 999 stick people made out of the wire in the fence.
  • Haunted Mansion: In the ballroom scene, open your cell phone and rest your chin on the speaker part with your face looking at the screen. Then look ahead and you’ll see your face has joined the ghost ball.
  • Haunted Mansion: As soon as you enter the graveyard, you go under a tall gate, if you look really hard, at the top left-center portion of the gate, there is a paper tag. This is the original purchase tag from California, they forgot to remove it, and it is still there today!
  • Haunted Mansion: In the scene with the lone piano player, pay close attention to what's going on outside! Notice the direction the wind is blowing the tree compared to the direction the clouds are moving.
  • Haunted Mansion: In the endless hallway there is a chair with a Hidden Donald Duck embedded in it.
  • Haunted Mansion: in the ballroom scene, if you look down on the floor of the balcony the doombuggies are traveling on, about halfway through the scene you will see a patch of light and the shadows of two pairs of legs swinging as if there are two people sitting on a ledge above you. Very cool!!
  • The Haunted Mansion: After you leave the stretch room, and are about to board the doombuggy, look for an open book. The book is a dictionary opened to the word “death”.
  • The Haunted Mansion: There is a hidden Tinkerbell in a broken pane of glass over a coffin.
  • After you exit the Haunted Mansion, you will see a Pet Cemetery on your right. At the very top, there is a statue of “Mr. Toad” that was erected after his Fantasyland ride closed.
  • Liberty Square: there is a gate around a door. It guards a marble slab that used to be a step at Monticello. Supposedly, Jefferson actually walked on it. This may or may not be true.
  • The Liberty Tree is an actual 100-year-old oak found on the property and transplanted, with a younger oak grafted into the base.
  • Hall of Presidents: Bill Clinton is the only president to wear a Mickey Mouse tie.
  • Liberty Square Riverboat: Look for characters aboard the boat. This is a great time to board because you will get to spend some time with the characters.
  • Liberty Square Riverboat: Ask if you can sit with the captain. You will get a co-pilots license and possibly a magic certificate.
  • Liberty Square: all the shutters on the windows are hanging crooked. This is because in those times leather was used to fasten shutters on and would stretch over time to hang crooked. The Imagineers used crooked metal fasteners.
  • The sidewalks are brown but the streets are not. People in that time dumped garbage out the windows, so Disney made it appear dirty.

Fantasyland:
  • Tinkerbell’s Treasures: The first person, usually a child, who enters Tinkerbell’s Treasures each morning gets to wake up Tinkerbell. There is a special chant they say, while they tap a treasure chest with a magic wand. Tink will wake up and the lights will flicker & music will play. It is very hard, as many people race at park open to do this.
  • Tinkerbell’s Treasures: If you miss the morning ceremony, you can see Tink flying around her store all day. Look in the keyhole in the chest near the entrance. You will hear Tink fall into the chest, and see a light blink inside.
  • Cinderella’s Carousal: Cinderella has her own horse on this attraction. It is the only horse with a gold ribbon on its tail. If you are early in line, you can find the horse and be the one to ride it.
  • Winnie the Pooh: During the ride, you’ll see a wall with framed photographs. If you look closely you’ll see a photo of Mr. Toad handing over a deed to Owl. This is because Winnie the Pooh replaced Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.
  • The Sword in the Stone, in front of Cinderella’s Carousal, actually pulls out of the stone a few times a day. If you are lucky enough to have this happen to you, you get a special magical moments certificate, which are very rare to get in Disney.
  • Near Cinderella’s Castle in Fantasyland, you will see a fountain. It is called the Rags to Riches fountain. It has a statue of Cinderella in the middle. If you bow to her, you can see the crown in the mural behind her actually sits on her head.
  • Kiss Goodnight: About 30 minutes after park closing, a special lights and music ceremony takes place at Cinderella’s Castle. Not many people are left to see it, and it is supposedly very magical to see.
  • Sir Mickey’s Shop: While in the shop, look up to see Willie the Giant lifting up the roof to look inside.
  • While on Philharmagic, wait until the scene where Aladdin & Jasmine are on the Magic Carpet flying over Agrabah. Watch the bottom left corner of the screen and you’ll see a deliberate hidden Mickey made out of the roofs of buildings.
  • Another hidden Mickey on Philharmagic is hidden in the French horn to the side of the stage. Look for it before the show starts.
  • If you are celebrating a special occasion, a great place to visit in Cinderella’s Castle for a meal at Cinderella’s Royal Table. When you make reservations, tell them what you are celebrating. They may decorate your table and give you a window seat, along with a Magical Certificate.
  • Peter Pan: Watch when you fly over the Mermaid Lagoon. You can see a mermaid that look remarkably like Ariel from the Little Mermaid.
  • Snow White: Look at the painting on the mural in the boarding queue. On the laundry line behind snow white, are Mickey Mouse’s boxer shorts.

Adventureland
  • The Jungle Cruise: Look at the Jungle Cruise sign, below the J you will see a hidden Mickey.
  • The Jungle Cruise: Look for an airplane on the right hand side of the ride. On the side is a silver classic hidden mickey.
  • The Jungle Cruise: Sometimes the skipper will ask for an assistant. That assistant will get a Junior Skipper pass, which is a great souvenier.
  • Aladdin’s Flying Carpets: Look at the ground when you’re walking by this attraction, or waiting in line for it. You will see jewels embedded in the ground. One of them is in the shape of a Mickey.
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: Always stay in the left hand side of the queue when entering the line for the ride. At random times of day, Jack Sparrow will be in the jail cell on this side, and it makes for a great picture & is good entertainment.
  • In Adventureland, there is a chance for another rare special photopass picture. If you see a photographer set up with a sword, near Pirates of the Carribean, get in line. Your photo will have a superimposed Captain Hook that you are fighting.
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: Ask the cast member when you board if they said good morning to George today. George is supposedly a ghost that haunts the ride, and if they don’t greet him everyday, the ride will break down frequently or other strange things will happen.

Main Street USA
  • Try to always get to the Magic Kingdom at park open. Many times, the first people in the park are chosen to be “Family of the Day” or “Prince or Princess of the Day”. These people get magical surprises like leading the parade, riding with the characters into the park on the train, starting the fireworks, or a number of other things that have been reported.
  • Try to get a breakfast reservation for 8:00 AM on a day when the park opens at 9:00 AM. You will be able to walk around parts of the Magic Kingdom when nobody else is around. It’s breathtaking to see!
  • The Harmony Barber Shop: This shop is on the left hand side as you walk down mainstreet, and is a little bit hidden. The wait gets very long, so if you want to visit, go early in the day. You can get a haircut, or just get “pixie dusted”. This is especially made into a big deal if it’s a baby’s first haircut as they get a special set of mouse ears and a Magic Certificate.
  • More of a tip than a secret – when you get past Mainstreet USA, consider heading to your left. 90% of guests head to the right. If you go left, you’ll face smaller crowds for the first few lands you visit.
  • Behind the Kodak camera shop, there is an old theater with Disney cardboard cut outs. They play old movies all day, and is not only a great place to relax, but also a great place to see characters without a long wait.
  • Check out all the names on the windows around main street. These names pay homage to important Disney executives, Imagineers, Artists and family members. Walt wanted the Magic Kingdom to be like a movie, so all of these names act as credits. The castle is supposed to be the main attraction.
  • Go into the old general store, and pick up the old phone. It’s an old party line, and you can listen to funny conversations.
  • When riding the train, sometimes a child is chosen to yell “All Aboard” and ring the train bell. Often times, they will get a Magical Moments certificate for this.
  • When you first enter Disney World's Magic Kingdom, walk under the train station where the lockers are. Facing Cinderella Castle, look for a door on the right just before you exit from under the station. Open this door and get a look at the Mural on the wall.
  • Under the Train Station: Keep your back to the castle and look up. In the rafters you can see some Disney character “items” left behind.
  • Center Street off of Main Street: go to the end of the street and listen carefully, you can hear tap dancing and singing lessons going on upstairs.
  • After the afternoon parade goes by, watch the upstairs windows, they will close automatically. That is where some of the music is piped.
  • Look for Tony’s Town Square Pizza Restaurant. It is themed after Tony’s from Lady in the Tramp. If you look at the pavement near the restaurant, you will see a heart engraved with pawprints in it.
  • Visit City Hall on Mainstreet if you are celebrating an Anniversary, First Visit, Birthday or Honeymoon. They will give you a button to wear for free that will get you little perks all day if you’re lucky!
  • There is an opportunity on Main Street USA for special photo pass picture. Ask any photographer to take a picture of you “holding Tinkerbell”. They will superimpose Tink into your hands for the picture.
  • Walt’s name only appears on one window on Main Street. It is the one above the ice cream parlor and is the only one that faces the Castle. It is as if he is the “director”, since the castle is the main attraction. In movies, the directors name is the last one to appear before the movie begins.
  • Look at Walt’s finger on his statue at the end of Main Street. It is a Mickey Mouse ring. Walt is pointing to the front of Main Street to the statue of his brother, Roy, who brought Disney World to life after Walt’s death. He was giving him his due credit.
  • Cinderella’s Royal Table: Gus and Jaq are looking down over the foyer.
  • Cinderella’s Castle: Near the castle is a metal circle that marks the center of the Magic Kingdom. Ask a CM to point it out for you.
  • About 30 minutes after park close, The Kiss Goodnight takes place at Cinderella’s Castle. It’s a speech & light show, for only the few people left in the park. So let the crowds leave, and take a seat for the show.

Frontierland
  • Tom Sawyer’s Island: This is one of the best WDW treasures. Every morning, cast members hide paintbrushes on Tom Sawyer’s Island. If you manage to get on one of the first couple of boats, you have a shot at finding one. If you do, turn it into your boat captain and they will give you a special fastpass good for either Big Thunder Mountain or Splash Mountain.
  • Big Thunder Mountain: After you exit the ride, and are back outside walking down the exit ramp, look at the rocky wall to your left. You will see a deliberate profile of a hidden Tinkerbell – one of the best hidden characters anywhere in WDW.
  • General tip – Frontierland is a great place to watch the parades. This is because the parades start here. So you will be done watching the parade while it’s still going on in other lands. After you see the last float, you can walk right onto Big Thunder Mountain, or another ride that typically has a longer line.
  • Visit the train station in Frontierland. Check out the Lost & Found and you will see some interesting items.
  • Splash Mountain: Look for an animatronic squirrel that jumps out and yells. If you listen carefully you can hear that he is actually yelling out “FSU” for Florida State University. A creative Imagineer who worked on this ride must have been a fan of the school and included it in the ride.
  • There is a silver plate that runs between Liberty Square and Frontierland. This plate represents the Mississippi River, separating the east from the west, and there is water flowing out from the plate into the Rivers of America. Additionally the buildings also reflect changes east to west from the colonial style to the frontier boomtown to the southwestern adobe buildings.

Tomorrowland:
  • In Tomorrowland, keep an eye out for a moving & talking Trash Can. His name is “Push”, and you can go over and greet him by name. He will hold a conversation with you. Feed him some garbage. Ask him to take a photo with you. He’s very funny & kids love it.
  • Under the Transit Authority and Astro Orbitor you will see another party line that you can pick up and listen to.
  • While riding the Transit Authority, wait until you are inside, and look for a girl getting her hair done to your ride. Her belt buckle has a hidden Mickey on it.
  • Transit Authority: While on this ride, look at your left and notice a mini-model of the original plans for Epcot. Epcot was supposed to be an actual town in a bubble, where people lived.
  • If Space Mountain is broken down, get on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. It is one of the only times you can see Space Mountain with it’s lights on. It breaks down so often, that this isn’t too hard to do.
  • Space Mountain: When you are waiting to board, look up at the comets and stars above you. Some of the comets are actually pictures of chocolate chip cookies.
  • Buzz Lightyear: In the waiting area, look for planet earth in the murals on the walls. In several of them, the country in the center is clearly a Mickey Mouse head.
  • Buzz Lightyear: When you are exiting the ride and entering the photo queue/gift shop area, there is sometimes a CM there that will ask you to find a hidden Stitch or Hidden Mickey. If you can find it, they give you a prize. The mural on the wall has the hidden Stitch spaceship, and the little green alien is pointing to the hidden Mickey.
  • Look around Tomorrowland at the metal palm trees. Visit them at different times a day. They will open & close to provide shade.
  • Buzz Lightyear: To get the high score on this ride, you have to find the secret targets. When you enter the first target room, look for an orange robot on your left. As you pass, spin around and shoot the back of his left arm or the buzz saw. You get 100,000 points for each shot. Also, in the room with the video screen and the flying Zurg ship, there is a hidden target. You will see it briefly on the wall when the Zurg ship stops, but before it is destroyed. Lastly, the last room that you are able to shoot in has a planet with Mickey on it. It’s blue and is forward in the top left corner. Shoot it.
  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin: When you are in line the "story" of the attraction is unfolding. Once inside, all guests are being 'shrunk' to toy size so they are able to fit in the xp 37-space cruisers. This is why, once you get up to the Viewfinder and Magna Doodle and Buzz, they are all the same size as you. Then when the ride is over and you see Buzz telling you your scores and zurg behind bars, you return to normal 'human' size.
  • Carousel of Progress: There is a picture on the wall of Walt Disney in the daughters room during the 1940’s.
  • Carousel of Progress: In the final scene there are 4 hidden mickeys. One is a nutcracker on the fireplace mantle, one is a plush in a present, one is a peppermill on the counter, and one is an abstract painting on the wall.
  • Carousel of Progress: The dog is a duplicate of Walt’s real dog. It can also be seen on Pirates of the Caribbean.

The rest of it....

MAGIC KINGDOM

GENERAL

v Outside the Lady and the Tramp Tony's Restaurant in Magic Kingdom there is a bench with Goofy sitting on it. If you sit on Goofy he will laugh! Great (and fun) trick for those who know and even better to spring on those who don't!

v If a cast member waves at you approach them for possible magical memory.

MAIN STREET

v Pick up the antique phone in the General Store on the right hand side of the street. When you do, you can hear a "party line" conversation going on!!
v A child can be heard taking singing lessons upstairs somewhere.
v Silhouettes pass by upper windows.

v The entrance to the Magic Kingdom has the aroma of popcorn.

v Disney's whole theme park concept was to put visitors inside a cinema experience. Every part of the park has its own constant soundtrack (all in the same key and on the same beat to make for smooth transitions), and there's always a popcorn smell wafting by the entrance. The second-story windows are the opening credits.

v There is a theatre behind the Kodak store in the MK on the right side of Main St. Immediately after you come out from under the RR to the Main St. Circle there's a white gingerbread trim walkway with an unmarked entrance door. You go down a short hall and there's the small theatre playing old Disney cartoons, some in black and white. This is where they used to show The Disney Story, which is now in MGM. They have plywood cutouts of Snow White & the Seven Dwarves, Steamboat Mickey, etc. that you can get your picture beside as well as a photography museum there. This area is where the characters who are about to go out on Main St. gather before their big appearance. It was JACKPOT character-time!!! And I was thrilled more than my daughters.

FANTASY LAND

v In Fantasyland, directly behind the castle, is a drinking fountain with a statue of Cinderella in the center. She's dressed in her rags and sitting with some birds, I believe. On the wall behind her is a painting with a crown in the center of it. When you're standing in front of the fountain the crown seems to hover about a foot over her head, but when you bend down to take a drink, if you look up at the statue (not necessarily an easy task), the crown is now sitting on top of her head. A fun little Disney detail.

v When you go to Sir Mickey's Shop in Fantasyland look at where the roof meets the walls. You will see Willie the Giant from Mickey and the Beanstalk peeking into the shop.

v The gift shop and some areas of the ride in Winnie the Pooh smells like honey.

v When you enter the door to Tinkerbell's Treasures nearest the castle you are actually in the Darling Children's nursery. The merchandise shelves are beds, dressers, chest of drawers etc. There are dolls, kites and other toys all around the ledge at the top of the room. Stare into the top left keyhole in the dresser and wait for a flash of light to see if you can see Tinker Bell. Then as you go to the other end the shop is laid out as Cap't. Hook's ship. There is even a "bridge" where one could imagine a ship's wheel. You can see the tree where the Lost Boys live. You might even get to see Tinker Bell fly into one of the trunk/limb openings to warn the Lost Boys of Hooks "gift".

v Pinocchio's Village Haus is made up of seven themed rooms. They are named Blue Fairy, Cleo, Figaro, Jiminy Cricket, Monstro, Stromboli, and Geppetto's Workshop.

v When Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was converted into Winnie the Pooh Adventure around the turn of this century, they included a scene where Mr. Toad hands off the property deed to the ride. To see Mr. Toad, look to your left as you enter Owl's house. There's a framed picture on the wall, just inside the doors. You really have to turn around and look 'back', almost.

v There are little mice up in the rafters of the lobby of the castle.

ADVENTURE LAND

v On Pirates, as you pass the auction scene, watch as the pirate on the left hand side fires his gun, the sign on the other side of the water "pings" and swings back and forth.

v Above the Pirates of the Caribbean ride entrance find the parrot with a patch over one eye. If you are directed to the right inside to queue up for the ride, there is a window you can look in and down and see two skeletons playing chess. The board layout is supposed to show a stalemate (drawn game; going nowhere) but I couldn't see for sure in the dim light. Just before you board on the right-hand queue is a cave where you can hear someone digging (treasure?). The left queuing area has different interesting sights but is usually closed during non-busy periods

v Jungle Cruise revealed stagecraft secrets such as the hidden heaters used to warm the tropical plants and the actual words uttered by the animatronic cannibal ("I love disco,").

FRONTIER LAND

v Intead of running through liberty square to get to frontierland at the crack of 9 rush, you can go through Adventureland and turn right at the bathrooms near Swiss Family Treehouse. It is a very useful shortcut. You might be the first one there

v If you are on one of the first few trips, see if you can find a paintbrush on Tom Sawyer Island. Turn it in to the boat captain on your way back and s/he'll give you a Fastpass to a nearby ride

v In Frontierland, look down at the main walkway (which is also the parade route). Instead of just plain cement there's also and area a couple feet wide that goes all the way down the walkway and looks like a brownish/yellow gravel. It seems in frontier times the streets had a urine trough in them for the all of the horse urine. The gravel area represents the urine trough

TOMORROW LAND

LIBERTY SQUARE

v If you're by the Haunted Mansion at night, look up at the top story right above the front door. If you watch it for a while you'll notice a light pass by it and some shadows, it looks like 2 people are walking by with a lantern.

v The turrets of the HM are actually chess peices. rooks, bishops, pawns, the king and queen... they are all there!!!

v The 13 lanterns hanging in the Liberty Square Tree representing the original 13 U.S. colonies. Its the big tree to the left when facing the Paddle Wheel Boat

v Look at the 2nd story windows in Liberty Square. One has a rifle and another has 2 lanterns for "One of by land, two if by sea".

v Liberty Square was supposed to represent the East Coast of the United States while the Train station behind Splash Mountain was to represent the West Coast.

v The 17th-century mansion of master Gracie is supposedly on the Hudson River. The Hall of Presidents is supposed to represent Pennsylvania but the Liberty Bell is also a good Pennsylvania focal point.. think the river for the paddle boat was supposed to be on the Mississippi. Also have to check what Tom Sawyer's Island actually represented. One source calls the bridge near the hat shop and shooting gallery as going over the "little Mississippi". The Diamond Horseshoe is at the gateway to the west, St. Louis MO. The old wooden cottage of the Country Bear Jamboree symbolicly represents Colorado.

v Big Thunder Mountain RR and the tiny town of Tumbleweed were near Monument Valley MT. And lastly the WDW Railroad stop in Frontierland represented California.

v Meanwhile back "East" as you enter the Columbia House Restaurant from the Fantasy Land end nearest Peter Pan's Flight (London), it is decorated to represent England and as you walk through, the decor changes to Early American.

v Or, coming the other way, as we change lands Fantasyland to Liberty Square we are virtually crossing the Atlantic. When you enter the Columbia House Restaurant end nearest the Small World Attraction leaving the Old World behind to make our fortunes in the New World.

v I] heard that at the Columbia Harbor House, on the second floor, the dining room there is seldom crowded and you can have a great view of Fantasyland and one of the other lands

v FIREWORKS!!! From the balcony at the Main St. railroad station, a nice view of Main St with the castle in the distance.

TOON TOWN

v If you look in front of the Bathrooms in Toontown that are disguised as a gas station, you'll find the keys to those bathrooms... they are suspended inside the gas pump!

EPCOT

v Don't just rush by Canada - take the time to walk around to the back of the Pavilion and look at the gardens - they are just beautiful and a great resting and relaxing spot. Someone told us about this a few years ago and we never realized it was there. Worth a peek if you're into flowers and gardening.!!

v When you get off of the Maelstrom ride at the Norway pavillion in EPCOT, you are escorted into a theater to watch a movie. Just before you walk in, there is a talking bench to the right of the theater doors.

v The pictures on the walls inside American Adventure were all painted by various Disney artists. One picture in particular is an optical illusion. The picture hangs in the corner to the left as you first enter the rotunda. It is a picture of a B-17 bomber from back in World War II. In front of the picture is a grey strip of tiles on the floor. If you stand on the gray tiles and walk back and forth, the plane seems to swivel to follow you.

v You might notice that each wall mosaic has at least one cracked/flawed tile in it. These mosaics were created by Moroccan artisans in a unique arrangement with their government and Disney.
v The Moroccan people worship Allah, and believe that only Allah can create something that is "perfect," so every mosaic was purposely flawed

v When you get to the Outback area lift the lids on the old time soda coolers. Get ready for a surprise. (The Outback section may be closed for refurbishing)

v Italy at the World Showcase. If you wander around behind the shops (where the fountains are) look around for little red press-buttons that say "press for a surprise" (or something to that effect). If you press the button, water squirts from a different location. (Not there 8/04?)

MGM

v At the entrance to MuppetVision 3D, just as you enter the building, look for the "Security Office" on the right hand side. There, you will see a sign that says: "Back in 5 Minutes: Key Under Mat". If you look down at the mat you're standing on, you can lift it and actually find a key embedded in the carpet!!

v At MGM there is an umbrella bolted to a lightpost on New York street. if you put one foot up on the post and grab the handle, rain falls and you can recreate a scene from "Singing in the Rain"

ANIMAL KINGDOM

v If you're going to Disney's Animal Kingdom and are faced with a long line, here's a little "secret"entrance: Go through the Rainforest Cafe - there's an entrance to the park at the rear of the gift shop that never has a line!

As you walk past the Prime Time Cafe and the Indiana Jones Outpost you will see, tucked away in a corner, a display of props used in the "Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade" movie. You will recognize the vehicles and especially that famous tank. Unless you happen to attend the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular and exit to the left you may never even know this exhibit is there. It has been there for a long time and the overgrowth may hide some of the vehicles... but they are there. This is also a quiet area tucked away in a corner of the Hollywood Studios theme park. Enjoy it.
Epcot
Treasure: Epcot Tribute Museum
Location: Behind Club Cool
Unfortunately this may be a temporary treasure. Behind Club Cool there is an area devoted to the history of Epcot. In this area you can see models of many of the original Epcot pavilions, a promotion video for the opening of Epcot, and some exhibits of pavilions past and present. It is an extremely pleasant and nostalgic look at the beginning of Epcot and my fear is that this treasure will not be around for long. If you are a fan of Epcot and especially a former Epcot attraction known as Horizons, this treasure is for you.
Treasure: Sunset Point
Location: Polynesian Resort
This area is found behind the Tokelau Longhouse. It is marked by a long walkway out to a point surrounded by several palm trees. This is an outstanding location from which to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks or just to enjoy a quiet moment and watch the ferry boats travel across the seven Seas Lagoon. It's one of the most romantic spots in Walt Disney World.
