Interesting discussion on this, folks. I'm sure that as soon as it benefits WDW's business model to enforce the expiration time on FPs they will do exactly that. Until that time I like that we have the freedom to find ourselves on the other side of a park and not have to make a panicked dash to honor an FP slot. Likewise, if we're holding a set of FPs and it turns out we need to go back to the room for some down time, we can do that and still use the FPs later that same day. As a guest I appreciate that "policy".
I confess that there are times when I'll intentionally hoard some FPs to set us up for smooth touring later in the day. I also drive 3-4 miles over the speed limit on the way to Florida.
