News Disney Riviera Resort announced

As always, a whole of text for very little substance.

Nobody said this was an all or nothing Resort except you. People argued (correctly) that there would be more to it then the initial artwork showed. People argued (correctly) that the resort would include all the necessary amenities for a standalone resort. You were the one that insisted it was designed to share with CBR which it is not.

Again...you are saying “nobodys” and “except you” because you assume it’s correct...however it’s not. Go check if you must.

I yield you your snarky, “insider” pedestal. No argument...I know where to find you if I need classified internal budgeting and engineering designs 😉

Well it is on the roof so you got the elevated part right;)

Is the new Artists Point not good? Haven’t been there since it changed.

I’m not venturing an assessment on the quality...just theorizing the operation structure will be the same or very similar. That has disadvantages and advantages

Location yes. Nearly everything else, no.

But this discussion wasn’t based on location now was it?

I think it was an open ended “better” or “nicer” inference. There are some great things about the GFLO and some misconceptions...
I stayed at the Disneyland hotel once and it was nice...same ballpark to me if not equal. Standards in France are certainly not 100% apples to pommes

It’s correct

Certainly there were people who expected worse and those who hoped for the best.

You however were the one driving the narrative that this property would be bare bones. And now when you see that it is not you are moving the goal post and saying the amenities are not the best ever.

The comparison started in reference to Riviera (obviously) which isn’t exactly known for its location. It seems pretty obvious that the open ended question of better and nicer was judging the properties each on their own merits not in reference to outside items in their periphery. Because you know there’s always extra points for being in Paris at the entrance of a castle park as opposed to off the side of the ride in swampy central Florida.

Amazing for a DVC not on the MK loop. I can definitely see this will be popular and rather exclusive.

Hopefully us regular folk will get another E-Ticket from the profits it makes.😊

300+ rooms will probably be greater than 6 million points to sell. If they open at $200 a point that’s $1.2 billion in sales revenue. Even after paying for construction and sales costs there’s enough left over for a few hundred million in stock buybacks plus an E-Ticket ;)

No real argument there. I just don’t subscribe that the separation on the “grand” is that big...it was built better but doesn’t operate all that differently.

What are you basing that DVC assessment on??. Not that I disagree...just want a thought trail on it.

I was driving the narrative...on wdwmagic? Alone!??

I don’t even know my own powers. Was this where that dredging the channel to the backside of the outpost was?

Hmmmm...

As I mentioned earlier the location as it allows easy transportation options. Has all the amenities and offers popular suites. It doesn't have the immersive theming of an MK resort but it isn't far behind.

If I were ever to buy into DVC, this would be the first place I would consider. I am being quite serious about that.

They are advertising the lakefront path as an amenity:

Walking / Jogging Path
This picturesque path will welcome you to explore the Resort’s surroundings during a scenic stroll or jog.

There are plenty of food options on site so you certainly don’t need to go to CBR for food, but it’s probably going to be popular to walk over to CBR too...and vis versa. CBR just added a signature restaurant a quick service and 2 additional bars. Good for everyone.

It is especially convenient if your room is in Aruba or Martinique.

Heck, several Aruba buildings are closer to the Riviera Skyliner station, dining, and pools than they are to their own CBR amenities.

On another note, I hope the roadway will be a full circle around both CBR and Riviera. The CBR bus route is so ridiculously convoluted now, with uturns and doubling over roads. It’s annoying.

Not to go back a few dozen pages, but the smaller pool in the last concept art released was in fact not the feature pool. I know most people agreed that was probably the case...but there were a few who insisted it was.

Not sure why they went with the weird shaped tiny studios without a real bed but I guess they will appeal to some people. I wouldn’t hold my breath that they will be a significant discount on number of points per night over a regular studio.

I am surprised with the number of food offerings. We knew about the rooftop place and that there would be a quick service too, but it sounds like 2 additional areas. A coffee/wine bar and a pool snack bar. Considering this is also a pretty short and pleasant walk to CBR food options you won’t go hungry staying there. I think this also confirms this will not be a “moderate” DVC. Expect prices per point to also not be moderate.

Finally, on the issue of concept art I think it’s blatantly obvious to anyone looking at the various pieces of art that the very first piece put out was not a best effort to highlight the resort. It was clearly vague and used as a placeholder. These new pieces plus the previous batch are much more what we would expect from Disney. I think that’s obvious to mostly anyone...except maybe those who still think this looks like a Hampton Inn...and notice even that attempted dig was upgraded from Holiday Inn to Hampton Inn. By the time it opens it might be upgraded to a Sheraton;)

You forgot the main QS, the Trattoria. There are far more details on the DVC page than even on the main Disney site it seems.

So we have a Trattoria, serving meals through the day with garb ‘n’ go items.

There’s the Pool Bar, serving food, cocktails and other drinks.

And the cafe / wine bar which sounds much more like Cafe Grounds @ Contemporary.

The tower studios were first rumoured when they included them in surveys of members. There are now more and more empty nesters amongst members who will love these studios for the extra space during the day.

Here’s the DVC page link for the fuller dining info and other details:

Couple of things I’m not so happy about:

Looks like the bed for the 5th person in the 1 bed is a Murphy style pull out like at the GFV etc. Which are too small for someone over about 5’8”. I would have preferred a sleeper chair as at Bay Lake or Kidani.

Also just the one bathroom, though there does appear to be two entrances to it like at the BC. So at least you don’t have to go into the master bedroom to visit the toilet!

I hope there’s a proper lounge up at the top. That cafe / wine bar is fine but looks like it’s in the lobby, with not enough seating. Not really where we’d want to hang out in the evening for an hour or two.

I'm thoroughly disappointed the 1 BR only has one bathroom and 2 baths in the 2 BR. I thought for sure DVD wouldn't build a resort from the ground-up with the classic floorplans rather than go with the Kidani/BLT floorplan. I suppose that lowers maintenance fees and turnaround time on housekeeping, but I'd rather the additional bathrooms.

The rooms based on the floor plans look small
Given the nightly cash price, I think they will be overpriced for my budget. I had been looking forward to them and will still take a look during my September visit.

I agree with this. We almost always book 2BR, but if booking a 1BR that theoretically sleeps 5 adults, a second bathroom is so much more convenient. That is disappointing.
