Tomorrowland Speedway made the hole in the ozone layer above OrlandoFor about 10 minutes...
Got a little chuckle reading your post, considering the carbon footprint/environmental impact of the whole WDW complex...
FINALLY!Straws don't suck... People suck - especially those who want to force me to change a behavior for an emotion-based, straw-man argument
But will the Ziploc bags have a/c ?
And re they hurricane proof ?... and will they still work when there is lightning in the area?
Where are people getting this idea? That's not how I remember it and I shopped my way through the "do you want paper or plastic" era of the mid-80s. My recollection is that the move was motivated by money-savings by retailers and marketing campaigns by the petrochemical industry.
You do know that spray cans were not banned, just the propellant (CFCs)... and it worked! Turns out we ARE that powerful. It is as silly as banning spray cans to fix the ozone layer. We are not that powerful. The earth will be here and thriving LONG LONG LONG after we are gone. We're not fixing a thing.
Except that now we're being warned that "fixing" the ozone layer actually made global warming worse. National Geographic actually ran an article, the subhead of which was, "Twenty-five years later, the lingering 'hole' over Antarctica is close to closing -- and that may not be entirely a good thing." Nothing we do will ever be good enough because there always has to be a "crisis" that we are addressing. You do know that spray cans were not banned, just the propellant (CFCs)... and it worked! I'd be interested in reading that article...Except that now we're being warned that "fixing" the ozone layer actually made global warming worse. Don’t forget the much anticipated Straw Wars Land opening in 2019Rides Walt had in design phase before his death:
The sum of straw thrills
Epcot world strawcase (showing the different straws around the world- did you know in Australia they use the straw upside down?)
Living with the Landfill
Space-sip earth
Strawin', a sim experience of straws traveling to drinks in various countries.
Honey, I bought all the straws! Kid play land featuring plastic, bendy and crazy straws
The earth will be here and thriving LONG LONG LONG after we are gone.
OK, that's a 2010 article... here's a newer (2016) NatGeo article on the same topic. The title is "Remember the Ozone Hole? Now There's Proof It's Healing.
If there was a more environmentally friendly alternative that was just as convenient and cost about the same I’m sure they would. They can’t and shouldn’t attempt to address every single thing. Just the ones with simple solutions that have very little impact to overall experience. How about the millions of people who fly to WDW every year?
Maybe Disney should start discouraging that. Flying is terrible for the environment
Rather than being forced to choose between skin cancer and climate change, is there an option C available for "neither"?
OMG, Disney getting rid of plastic straws guess we'll all have to ----suck it up and accept it or bring your own
