Disney Quest to close in July 2017

In defense to that DisneyQuest wasn't exactly the best thematically either. West Side is way more diverse with its offerings than the other parts are. You have a bowling alley, Harley store, Cirque show, House of Blues, etc. It's a mix of a lot of things.

I couldn't agree with you more.

I still think they are really missing the boat on this building and what is going in it however

this nba idea is one of the dumbest of all the new things at disney springs

who even watches the nba its so boring

maybe if they brought back the uniforms from the 80's the short shorts and tight shirts it would get popular again

i dont know how they even run in those pants they call shorts

It would be great to see a massive price drop for entry to DQ in the run up to closure. It would acknowledge the lack of investment in the last goodness knows how many years, but let people see it off without feeling ripped off.

is there an existing NBA Experience like this in the world? I am just wondering if there is something to compare it to because I don't really know what to expect.

Well there was the weekend events they used to at DMGM. Back in the lot where the new flex theater is.. they'd have exhibits like stand next to the 7' cutout.. see how big a NBA player's hand/feet were.. shooting games of course, etc. Was kind of neat to check out once if you had little else to do..

Does anyone know if this now means Pepsi will be back at Disney? Pepsi is the official sponsor of the NBA and I don't think they would like a restaurant owned and themed to the NBA serving coke, and maybe vice versa.

I'd think the building will be gutted at the least, so filling the "floors" shouldn't be an issue. They'll just build as many floors as they want and call it a day. This doesn't appeal to me, but it's a fresh, unique option at Disney Springs, and I hope it does well.

Another thing to note is that NBA closed around time of the building of the NBC sports bar, and provided a space for Toothsome to go into. It certainly wasn't the most popular venue in CityWalk, but it didn't necessarily close solely because of attendance.

But what about the other 3 floors?
NBA is of little interest to an international audience, so immediately half your customers won't go in there.
Just convert the thing into the Universe of Disney store already.
Well a lot of NBA players went to the Euro league during the lock out, so there is that.

I don't think its possible, unless there is something in the contract allows 2 soft drink companies at Disney Springs.

Disney still has their contract with coke and a Coca Cola store opened at Disney Springs last year. Coke isn't going anywhere as a result. Disney even allows Coke to have their Coca Cola Bear to have a meet and greet in the Coca Cola store building.

Particularly in China. Its also big in some parts of South America.
Yep....and Turkey, Israel, and probably a few more countries. It's not just popular with Americans.

Can't completely picture what this is going to be..but it sounds neat. I think that it will be nice to have a sports attraction at Disney World.

I don't think that is a good idea in today's market. The reasoning is ESPN has been losing subscribers and been affecting the price of Disney stock.
Boardwalk's ESPN Club and WWoS likely causes Disney to hold back at DS, plus they would have to operate it. ESPN isn't lacking in popularity, it's simply losing subscribers/profits due to the transition to streaming media.
