Disney Princess Resort?

Hi,

I am new here, and have a ton of questions! I would first like to say that I am so thankful for this place! I've had so many questions answered, and have so many more to ask! Thanks to everyone who keeps this place running. :sohappy:

Ok for my first question (or I guess second since I did ask one yesterday:lookaroun)

I am planning a trip to Disney on May 9th for 7 days, and was wanting to know what resorts (Disney or Not) that are best to stay at when your daughter 'lives and breathes' princesses (especially Ariel)? My daughter is 6-years-old and my husband is 3...ok...lol! j/k:ROFLOL:

I must say that our budget is a 'reeeeally' tight one, but I may be able to get my husband to agree on splurging a little for the right resort.

Any answers would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much!

I can't wait to go back to Disney!:D

Welcome!

I'm by no means an experts when it comes to resorts but the most 'princess' resort would probably be the Grand Floridian or, failing that one of the resorts close to the magic kingdom (Polynesian, Contemporary or Wilderness lodge). The downside is that these are all Deluxe resorts and as such, very expensive.

I would suggest looking at the value resorts or possibly a moderate. I personally don't think any of the resorts are very princess like (I suppose I am speaking as a grown man though so feel free to ignore my opinion!) and as such it doesn't make too much of a difference. If budget is an issue then go with a value (All Stars or Pop Century) and perhaps spend a bit of money getting your daughter a princess dress. Maybe even a makeover a the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique (sorry, I can't spell!). This will make her feel like a real princess.

Remember that your daughter will get a princess overload whilst visiting the parks so don't worry too much about the resorts.

I hope that helps!

I agree with the above poster. If your budget is tight, stay at a moderate or value and rather than spend extra money on the resort, use it on some of the princess "experiences" instead. Take her to the Bibity Bopadity Boutique (I'm sure I did not spell that right either!), go to some of the princess character meals, or even the Perfectly Princess Tea Party at the Grand Floridian (which is way overpriced, but sooooo worth it for a princess lover! Let me know if you want details on this...we just went in December). Have fun!

I also ditto the value resorts...

Our first trip with our daughters we stayed value.... They got SO much princess stuff in the parks... and we only slept at the resort... so it just doesn't seem worth the extra money when you're on a tight budget!

we did Bippity Boppity in the castle, brought our own Disney princess costumes from home for them to wear ... we went to Ariel's Grotto and ate in the castle while they were all dolled up.. VERY special day!
we also did the Princess meal at EPCOT..
and our trip coming up we are doing the Cinderella dinner at the Grand Floridian...
there is plenty of princess stuff to be found... no need to splurge on a princessy resort.. which as others have said there really isn't one anyway.

Happy Planning!

I have to agree with most of the postings here and tell you to go for a Moderate or Value level resort. Also, there is a special of Buy 4 night at a Disney hotel get 3 more nights free running right now so this may help in terms of the budget. If you'd like, shoot me an E mail and Ill be happy to work up some numbers for you! My email address is in my signature line below. Hope this helps! Belle

Princess splurge options

I am planning a trip to Disney on May 9th for 7 days, and was wanting to know what resorts (Disney or Not) that are best to stay at when your daughter 'lives and breathes' princesses (especially Ariel)? My daughter is 6-years-old and my husband is 3...ok...lol!

First, as no one else has stated it, Welcome! It's always good to add to our community.

Regarding your post...I will say I have a son, so we don't catch all the princess info. However, we're really into Disney as are our friends who do have little girls. Lots, and lots, of little girls. (We have 4 friend couples that each have 3 daughters.) So here's my recommendation based on everything they've ever told me and our own experiences.

Since you're on a tight budget, rarely will you get as much out of the resort as you would the parks. I know some people live for the resort, but most focus on the activities outside the resort most of the time. Thus, see if you can splurge on a princess character dining experience. There are 2 that I know of: Cinderella's Royal Table at Magic Kingdom (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner); and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall at EPCOT's Norway pavillion (Princess Storybook lunch & dinner).

Info is on this site as well as at AllEarsNet.com under the Dining -> Menus options. I have heard nothing but great things about both and will drag my little guy there in a couple years.

If you can splurge beyond that, look into Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at either the Castle in MK or at World of Disney in Downtown Disney area. If you do this and princess dinner, coordinate them to have her "magical transformation" done before dinner to make it really a special event.

Also, there was a really nice meet'n'greet for the princesses in Mickey's Toon Town Fair in Magic Kingdom. My understanding is that they also added the Fairys recently. Check that out as it costs no extra and you should be able to use both your own camera as well as the Disney Photo Pass.

Good luck & have a great time!

Your Princess is in for the time of her life wherever you stay. I took my princess for her first trip at 4yrs well almost 5. I called her my "Princess Groupie" for the trip. We stayed at POP Century...value resort but we were only there for naps and to sleep at night. She loved it there. We visited with several Princesses in ToonTown...our first stop. Lunch the next day at EPCOT, Storybook Princess lunch or something like that. We also saw Snow White and Belle while touring EPCOT. Breakfast in the castle the next day, Ariel in The Grotto after that. She will definately be able to find Princesses wherever you are! Be sure and let her dress in her favorite Princess dresses. She will receive so much attention from cast members! We took her best costumes for breakfast at CRT and other special occassions but she wore the lighterweight dresses each day so she would be more comfortable.

The Grand Floridian would really be the most "princessy" resort but very expensive. After that maybe Port Orleans French Quarter. I'm not sure if All Star Movies has a building with more princessy stuff. Save your money and stay at a value and do more of the special princess things at the parks.

My daughter also loves Ariel. The best place to meet her is at Ariel's grotto. It is almost like you are secluded with her in the cave. We went there first thing that morning. My daughter talked to her for like 5 minutes. She asked Ariel where her daughter Melody was at and that kinda threw her off. My daughter had an outfit with Tinker Bell on it and Ariel asked her if that was her favorite and My daughter said no you are. That seemed to make Ariel's day. The All Star Music has a statue of Ariel I believe she is playing a guitar and flounder and Sabastian are with her. But the POP is a way better resort. Make sure you check out Voyage of the Little Mermaid @ DHS. Here are a few photos so you can get and idea. I always like to see pics.

Just to restate a very good point above - book a table at Cinderalla's Royal Table (in the castle at the Magic Kingdom). Your daughter (and you) will love it.

If your going to do this, book immediately as it will be busy. If you can't get a table, keep trying and be flexible with eating times.

Stay at POP century. she will love it there. Buy her a princess costume before you go to WDW. they are expensive there. book the princess breakfast, etc. instead of spending for a nicer resort.

I have a princess who is now 10 and been to WDW numerous times (we're DVC members), She and I always make sure we do something mother/daughter seperate from her two brothers and dad. We've done the pricness tea which is alot of fun ofr the girls - they get a doll and dance, she really ejoyed that. She has also enjoyed the breakfasts in Norway and the dinenrin Cinderella Castle, but her favorite experience by far is the Biddidy Bobbity Boutique, Having her hair, nails and makeup done there and dressing made her feel like a princess and then going around the parks all day dressed like one was just great. Your daughter will love that!

Hey; def'ly check out POP (or other value resorts)... or check off-site hotels.... remember, you wont be spending THAT much time at the hotel. Then you can concentrate on doing princess things during the day. My girls also love princesses.... maybe doing a Princess Dinner (Akershus at Epcot, for instance.... since Ariel does show up there!)

OH! I just remembered, if you stay at the All Stars Music Resort, in the Broadway section, there are pictures of Belle and the Beast (in their Broadway style) meeting some children in each room. Added bonus, at the pool there's a statue of Ariel as well.

Welcome!!!!

I would agree that if your budget is on the tighter side there are some fun things you could do...

* Definitely decorate your window with princess stuff. Right now at Walgreens and our dollar tree they have window clings of princesses and hearts
* Buy princess snacks (like the fruit packs and cookies) at the store to bring into the parks
* Also keep an eye on Targets $1 section as they usually have some princess items (i have gotten anything from necklaces to ziplock bags)
* I agree about getting the costumes before you go, and making them special with a small hairclip or accessory from the parks
* There is a Princess autograph book that holds pictures
* Get princess stickers for your princess to share

The resort that you stay at becomes secondary when you give the magic a little nudge! :)

I hope that this helps and that you have an awesome trip with your family!!!
