Disney Playing catch up with Universal... Potter Disney's biggest mistake in 20 years...

The other thing is, too, that you are (well, i would assume) a fan of the parks and visit rather often, so you know the best way to attack the day to get the most in. With the day and a half guide, it is for new visitors
I have been once every year since 2012. I always take a new person with me, except this year, my DFi went for his second time. I honestly, think that it was thanks to fp+. We never really stepped foot in a stand by line because we kept snagging 4th fp+ for anything with a 30+ minute wait.
We don't do touring plan, we use undercover tourist/easy wdw for crowd estimates. We actually were winging it this trip because it was our first time with fp+ so we had no idea what to expect.
We probably couldn't do that again now that the 4th fp is well known about.
Seemed like no one knew they could use it. Maelstrom had a 40+ minute wait and yet had tons of fp times available.

ST2 is more new than simpsons, as ST included entirely new technology. But they were both great attractions
Star Tours II is just an update that was overdue. Simpsons Ride is a completely new theme with a brand new ride film. Sure, it reuses BTTF's style, but the ride is actually a lot smoother than BTTF was.

Just my opinion, but i didn't think it was smooth...infact got very dizzy and felt awful afterwards. Probably the reason for my bias, because i actually was fine on ST.
Have you seen the plot behind Thunder Falls? Kongstruction is prepping up to go vertical this fall!!
No, I hadn't actually, never heard anything confirming it---exciting though!!

I can't comment, haven't walked through it yet. I will Christmas of 2015 when the grandparents take us to DisneyWorld...how could I say no? First stop is Disneyland in February of 2015. Nafam convention in Anaheim, so making it a family vacation. 2015 will be a Disney year for my family...and yes I'm going to Universal to see Potter! :)
I wanna go to Disneyland!!!:(
I wish my grandparents would take me to Disney World! So what I'm 23! That's still a kid right?:D

You mean immersing us into a narrow street/walkway with square buildings, a train to take you to the other park to get more money from people on 2 park tickets, and a stationary fire breathing dragon?
If you can't see why someone might plausibly be more excited by this:

then I simply don't know what to say. It is completely valid and reasonable to be excited about Universal's new expansion, regardless of what anyone else (including Disney) is doing in their parks.

PS: I made as grand an effort as I could to find the most attractive photos of both locations to avoid demonstrating a bias. I have a lot of love for both of the projects pictured in this post, but I would argue that one is certainly more immersive than the other.

Also, King Kong is actually confirmed? I always thought it was just a popular rumor and coming in 2016??

From ThemePark Insider. Link below:
Universal Orlando King Kong construction update

Looks like it's on its way to a 2015 opening. Got to hand it to Universal for the continual improvement to the rides.
Wish Disney would start averaging 1 ride every 3 years per park. I think that would be a ride a year. Would be nice.

Understood :)

Camp Jurassic and the Discovery Center are great even if you're an adult. I understand skipping kiddie rides. Ollivanders, Poseidon and Sinbad aren't really kids attractions either. I could probably spend a full day since I generally enjoy everything at IOA except Pteranodon, Seuss Trolley, Poseidon and Doom.

But keep in mind that IOA is getting ready to expand its offerings! I get how you could finish at 2.

Kong
Nighttime show
Toon Lagoon revamp/replacement
Lost Continent revamp/replacement
Seuss expansion
Potter Phase 3
JP revamp/expansion

All of those seem to be on the table for IOA over the next 10-15 years. By the MK's 50th, both Uni parks will be full day for most anyone except babies.
Yup, I'm excited for all of it.

Star Tours is probably the tamest motion simulator aside from Wild Arctic. Makes sense. BTTF would nearly give you a concussion in its later years :D I honestly am surprised Star Tours has a height requirement above 36". Didn't seem that intense at all.

And it's not confirmed... but you can see the piles of dirt and pre vertical prepping at Orlando United!

Two totally different target audiences here, so this is not a very great example at all.

You cannot say one is better than the other though because they both look great and is all really just a matter of opinion

I did not say one was better, I only said it was plausible that someone may be more excited by Diagon Alley than Disney's most recent effort in Florida. The poster I was responding to accused Diagon of being nothing more than "narrow street/walkway with square buildings, a train to take you to the other park to get more money from people on 2 park tickets, and a stationary fire breathing dragon", and I wanted to demonstrate how that description is ill-fitting.

In other words, if Diagon Alley is just a narrow street with square buildings and therefore nothing to be excited about, what does that make Belle's Village?

First awesome photographs...I love the one of the mine train. Wow...does it really look like that at night?

Both areas in my opinion are well themed and will be fun to explore when I finally get to Orlando. My only complaint with Disney is how slow they are with coming out with new rides. It's the main reason I go to theme parks.

Honestly the first pic looks like it will be narrow and very crowded walkway between tall square buildings ...I'm wondering about traffic flow there

Another one of your pics looks like the boardwark area now and I'm not sure if you were expecting Ariel to breath fire or what? lol

While some of the new Uni additions look nice...if we're comparing new dragons...I think the one in the daytime parade at WDW has to win hands down
